I PLEAD TO ALL USERS ON THIS FORUM...
DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE, MAKE FOX LOSE THE RIGHTS!

THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH DON'T LET YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WATCH IT EITHER.
YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY SHOULD NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THIS.

Yeah...still hopeless I think.

There is an incredible amount of bad blood between Marvel and Fox and I don't see this happening.

Could you elaborate on this?

I despise this movie. I hate it with every fiber in my being, and yet it doesn't exist yet. I had no idea that Fox had the rights to Annihilus. He's one of my favorite comic villains of all time, and I was expecting him in the MCU eventually. This soul-crushing reveal, fills me with rage and contempt towards this new FF reboot.

Downgrade for all characters. Jessica Alba is probably a nice person but she was miscast. And they still did worse than her.

It's a super hero movie made by Fox. They haven't made a good movie since 2000, and even that one is not all that great. Do you expect it to be better now?

Even with its last twenty or so minutes, The Wolverine is a good movie, better than most of Marvel's tbh.

Anyway, I'm here for Kate and MJB.

Guy Pearce, Margot Robbie, Dwayne Johnson, Liam Hemsworth.

These aren't very good picks. Robbie is too young, Hemsworth isn't black, Johnson isn't made of rock and Mr. Fantastic is smart.

who would they cast? what choices do they have? Zoe Saldana was probably booked. Zendaya? Keke Palmer?

Surely black female actors exist outside of Nickelodeon.

Quvenzhané Wallis.

I agree for the most part. Either make both Storm siblings black, make The Thing black, or even Reed black. Hell, make them all black. It just seems contrived based strictly on how it's casted right now. Maybe it will make sense once we find out why one sibling is white and the other is black.

Maybe they will use blackface for Susan Storm?

EDIT:

^Same solution!!

Can someone tell me what's so wrong with this casting?

Continuity. Although I don't think in the very short time I read any F4 back in the day that it really went into detail about the parents. Just that the brother and sister were on the same team, same dad and mom is dead.

Have no problem with each as an actor but just seems odd. Like casting Will Smith as Iron Man. I have no problem with it, but it would be different having read the comics and such.

Other than that, I'll watch it (not in theater) because I just like visually 'cool' movies with stuff. And yes, I don't mind Bay films either.

Nothing.

Unless you (this isn't directly at you, of course) have a REALLY hard time accepting the technicalities of having a black and white brother-sister combo. Which seems to be the rest of the thread. It doesn't matter a bit, what does matter is whether or not the story and the characters will be done well.

But fuck that shit, right? MBJ is Johnny Storm and Kate Mara is Sue Storm, doesn't make sense, man. Doesn't make cents.

ADOPTED.

Daredevil (and imagine at some point Deadpool) reverted back to Marvel but that's because the source material didn't fit in with Fox's 'vision'. Daredevil really needed a darker turn than Fox was prepared to chase and thus it wasn't worth anything to them.

Daredevil returned to Marvel but not for lack of trying on Fox's part. They were trying to get a reboot started up with Joe Carnahan attached (and this was after they courted Affleck to direct/star in another DD movie) but they just ran out of time before hitting the seven-year deadline.

Deadpool is still in their hands. I'd assume it's part of the X-Men franchise, but even if it's separate, they have a script they've been sitting on for a few years now.

I wonder how bad it'll get amongst the fans if the rumours about Victoria Von Doom turn out to be true...

The Ultimate Fantastic 4 is such a shit concept anyway regardless of the cast, completely kills the family dynamic of the team when they're all teenagers.

Daredevil wasn't a priority. Simple as that. If Fox needed to have that IP at their studio there would have been a film. End of story.

Carnahan gave them a pitch that took place in the 70's (I'm sure the 'mood reel' he put together is still out there) and frankly even that sounds too 'high brow' and risky for Fox.

Simply put if it needed to be done it would have been done. Fox saw no value in the series and thus it got booted.

While any associated with the Deadpool film wants an R rated that script will stay on a shelf indefinitely.

Fox don't make R rated films. Especially superhero ones.

Any word on who's playing Doom?

If current casting if anything to go by....,

Michael Cera.

..., actually I would like to see that.

I know the PC Brigade will hate this, but Torch's casting comes across as a lame, weak attempt to diversify the team. Instead of having the courage to cast Richards or Grimm as a black man, they cast the brother of a white girl with blonde hair as the black guy. Just comes across as an unnecessary complication to me. I'd prefer that either both Storms were black, or Richards or Grimm were.

heh, might be fun to see Torch cast as a gay black male. That way, anyone who might complain about it could easily be labeled racist AND homophobic by armchair activists. I mean, is there anything about Torch's character that requires him to be a straight white male? I can't think of anything.

Otherwise, I'm indifferent to the casting as a whole. But yeah, I'll echo others in saying that I wish Disney owned the rights to F4 so that MCU could grow even more. Depending on the trailers, I might see this in the theaters.

I don't how they could make this movie any worse than the first too, so eh.

Although I guess there aren't any black females that exist to play Sue Storm.

Makes me remember the very first episode of Boston legal, where a little girl wasn't giving the leading role in a "Annie" tour because she was black.

I don't know if someone else pointed this out, but, regarding the criticism about them being way too young for the roles, they were teenagers in Ultimate FF4, so it's not like there's no precedent for that.

Oh, great. Now they ruined the Fantastic Four franchise.

I bet it turns out to be the best one yet.

That is an awfully low bar to set.

That needs to happen.

True. You could go from Batman all the way to Batman & Robin, then jump to the Blade-series, via X-Men to arrive at Spiderman 2002.

But I agree with you that the current wave indeed started with X-Men.
It's not necessary to rely on the Batman series alone:
Batman Returns (1992) The Crow (1994) The Phantom (1996) Spawn (1997) Blade (1998) Mystery Men (1999) X-Men (2000)

There were plenty of comic/superhero movies in the 90's. Not as many as since 2000 of course, but they were not unknown by any means. There were not many Marvel movies, but there were plenty of comic and superhero movies.

History seems to be the common answer.

Which I find dumb. These are fictional characters. More templates for writers than people.

This is why you've had some starkly different interpretations of them throughout the years. As long as you're keeping to the core template (in Torch case immature hothead) I don't see why they can't be changed in a myriad of ways.

Saw the other day that Doom may not even be in this. Supposedly the script has Annihilus as the villain and they travel to the Negative Zone.

Funny thing but Thanos is King of the Negative Zone in Ultimate FF4, it's like his only appearance in the Ultimate Universe as well. It'd be epic level trolling if Fox somehow had the rights to Ultimate Thanos and chucked him in before Avengers 3.

I am thinking it is a big troll using Annihilus to remind everyone we wont get Annihilation on film.

jokes on them Ultimate Thanos is a lame take on making Thanos more like Darkseid.

So they made human torch black, but couldn't be bothered to also cast sue, torch''s fucking sister, with a black woman?
Either he's adopted, she's adopted, or they have different mothers.

I guess they may have shared rights? Kinda like with Quicksilver.

Looking at their version of Quicksilver, I don't think the general public will really care that much.

He'll be as quickly forgotten as this dude in that silver painted costume.
