According to whom? Cause those people need to redo their maths.Don’t know why everyone is so upset about valve evaluation. 12 billion is generous considering net worth was reportable 3 billion.

They can, just need to borrow some money, which is very easy right now. Great rates and inflation on the horizon.Ok so Sony cannot buy them

How can it be seen as a show of power?
If your response to a 70 bil purchase is a 4bil purchase, I can assure you no1 see that a sign of how powerful you are. If anything it further proves that MS and Sony are not playing the same game.
Seems like a standard purchase for Sony. They like high quality studios that produce strong IP that has legs.
It does matter, it might not matter in the future. This really doesn't matter.
He can say that now and still sell in 5 years.
Well, your account getting ban goes for anything be it console or PC. Secondly, you're assuming the console player buys disk and the stats show buying digital is up, so again, you'll be back to square one if you're banned like you said could happen. And lastly, I don't know what your statement has to do with the convo myself and the other guy was having about the acquisition and how it affects PC. I don't have to convince myself of anything. I don't foresee a situation where PC gamers will settle for locked out content and forced to a subscription service as the other gentlemen replied. But yeah...You do realize that us PC gamers haven't owned games in like 10 years or more, right? If your Steam/EA/Whatever Acc gets banned your game library is done for.
On console, you could always just make a new Profile on the same console and throw in the disc and be up and running again. Can't do that on PC if the game isn't on GOG or DRM free.
So I don't know who you're trying to convince.
Valve is 12B only? Why has nobody bought them yet?
Well, do tell us of your experience in these sort of acquisitions. Which companies have you bought and where does your expertise on the matter come from?Sweet baby jesus
It's clearly not a show of power. You seem to be forgetting that Sony have second pickings behind MS, they only got Bungie because MS didn't want them, it's really that simple.Bungie are the creators of halo and are now owned by Sony. Of course its a show of power. It doesn't mean Sony need to be as rich as Microsoft.
Sony just broke their record with the price and have said "expect more". Basically it's Sony saying we can spend too and even go after publishers if we want. If sony ended up with square and capcom, are you telling me it isnt s big power move just because they won't cost 70b? This actually makes it look like Microsoft wasted money. They paid that much just for a declining call of duty that would have come to their platform anyway. They could have bought like 20 good studio's for the same price but what do they do? Buy call of duty instead.
PlayStation the hardware will continue to exist, but it’s clear for everyone to see and out from Sony’s mouth themselves that the goal is to expand beyond the console.
The point is to sell software, or subs, or MTX, that’s where the business is. The console is just a vehicle.
I ... no ... what ?
Through 2023.I bet COD stays multiplat in order for this shit to pass
I don't disagree with you.It does matter, it might not matter in the future.
I also think that the ftc would be looking at the fact that Sony would have control over a game engine that alot of their competition are using to various levels.
And then moved on to pixel counting. Good times.Remember when we all used to argue about games?
But if one company makes enough money, haven't they earned the right to own the market?
That's capitalism, isn't it?
Btw, not saying I endorse monopolies, just curious about the moral context behind free markets, etc.
Well it is the Olympics time. And here comes the mental gymnastic team going for the gold.
Of course selling beyond is the console is the goal. But the starting point now and into the far future (for the Playstation brand) will be the console. PSVR2 doesn't exist without the console. Everything PS related begins and revolves around the console.
The console is the cake; whereas subs, MTX, etc is the frosting and whip cream.
I think Sony will end up with one of the big Western publishers after Microsoft now getting 2 of them. Things will level off a little bit. They all suck big time but ubisoft would be the best of a bad bunch.
If for some crazy reason this acquisition falls through Jim will probably try to get a refund for Bungie
The Chinese government wouldn't allow to sell Tencent to foreign people, so nobody will buy them. This time I think it's Tencent.
Nothing can be as crazy as Activision tbh.
But I do see MS or Sony going after CDPR, they are wounded after Cyberpunk debacle and stock had plummeted hard.
How did you come to $20B?$12B is the estimated net worth of Valve, but I never said that's what they would sell for. Activision's net worth was around $20B before MS purchased it for about 3.5 times as much. I admit that I forgot that Valve wasn't publicly traded though, so I guess unless Gabe wants to retire it probably won't happen.
Service being on Sony and Nintendo has long sailed, that was done and dealt. It's not happening anytime soon or at all, if so you'll be looking at a few years, and even then Sony could have their own gamepass settled on PC and other consoles, considering this is the future where we're heading.Does anyone know why the Nvidia ARM deal was dropped ? Activision games is going to be on multiple platforms so I do not think there should be a problem. There have also been rumors Microsoft want to have their service on Sony and Nintendo platform as well.
i dont think it will pass antitrust in MS case. Why won't MS just outbid for Valve if that happened?

If you think COD is all they got with the AB purchase then no one should ever take anything you say seriously.Bungie are the creators of halo and are now owned by Sony. Of course its a show of power. It doesn't mean Sony need to be as rich as Microsoft.
