Haptic Gamepads 4 Life
...because of upkeep. PC's have problems incredibly more often compared to a console. Most people who buy consoles don't know anything about computers so the idea of them doing that sort of thing is unrealistic. Duh.
The problems pc may have are almost always solvable and almost none is through bios. Consoles on other hand you may only cry and pray that Sony/MS/Nintendo fix them...

Skyrim has sold 30 million I guess from googling. A lot more than any FROM game, because it has a Sims-like adult modding community keeping interest alive. But Bethesda also is a GAAS studio (I mean they invented horse armor) with Fallout76 and a couple of mobile games.
Fair Enough. I think Single player and GAAS games will always exist. Yes I agree they are chasing fortnite money. But at the same time they are investing in great single player games like God of war, Hellblade 2, and Horizon.

with this metaverse / nft shit and the first city going full in (Seoul) im really thinking that is someone Like Google Amazon etc etc ..also the words in the last Spencer interview and his fears about how the entry of some companies outside of Sony and ninty frighten him.
So many things are lining up ... probably someone like those Ms rivals is buying EA...(not Sony)

Too late now. Microsoft, Sony, possibly Nintendo if they catch on and others (Google, Amazon, Apple etc) all want the best content to add exclusively on their gaming subscription platforms, or games to release on other platforms that they can squeeze maximum revenue from.

Give it a few years and there won't be any independent gaming developers or publishers. As soon as somebody opens a new development studio, it'll instantly start an intense bidding war by one of the major subscription providers. That's before the new studio has even started work on any game.

The gaming subscription war has just begun.
If that rotten hellscape ever comes to be, I will completely bow out of current year gaming and just work on my backlog until I get tired of videogames.
Just pray it's MS, Sony or Nintendo and not Apple, Amazon, Facebook or Alphabet.
They're all pretty much the same to me. There have traditionally been enough outside publishers and more recently indies that kinda level it out, but who the fuck knows anymore.

I say this as a lifelong fan of videogames, a 2nd gaming crash would be the absolute best thing for the hobby (in my opinon).

Probably has something to do with the fact that's the only thing Bungie has been doing in the past 12 years... Yeah, might be it.
I'd say beyond that: what they did with Halo and Destiny. Bungie created these two big ass IPs, so in addition to Destiny they are also buying the talent, knowledge and potential to deliver more future big ass new IPs.

I dont really get why anyone would want EA, at the suggested prices i mean (50+mil). I mean Fifa is the major cash cow, and its not even Fifa anymore, and who knows how good it will perform going forward.
Battlefield is pretty close to dead, and has died a little bit more with each game. Battlefront games are big sellers, but it seems there are licensing issues there. What other major games do they have?, Madden?.
EA isnt the EA of 20 years ago where they would release like 20 games a year.
Have a lot of dormant IPs mind.

According to WikiPedia, I don't think they are as big as you think.

$3 billion in assets, about the same in operating income.

All the shares add up to $6 billion (got to admit I don't know what I'm looking at though, so could be way off) Sony could buy them with the cash left behind the sofa.

market cap doesnt mean anything. the potential grow and profits throughout the yeears it what counts also the deal needs to be worthwhile for the owners of square

He didn't know about Microsoft & Bethesda

He didn't know about Microsoft & Activision Blizzard

He didn't know about Take 2 & Zynga

He didn't know about Sony & Bungie

All big acquisitions in the past 2 years that he didn't know shit about and yet he's going to try and "tease" about acquisitions to come?

Sony needs the next one still realistically.

If they somehow got EA that's perfect because surely you leverage the sport titles like FIA for COD to keep those game multiplat etc

Future of pc is even more rosy, considering you will literally get every game from Microsoft and soon from Sony on that platform.

There is a reason why steam is popular. If any other big companies comes in, and does what epic does, it will screw steam community.

The bigger impact would be mods. That is the main thing, why I like steam.
Who cares why steam is popular. If anything concerning happened then people have an option to stop using Steam and they can just use mod managers like the good old days. You say the PC players will Be screwed by these acquisitions but the fact that we are far from a monopoly and the inherent nature of the platform making it hard for one to exists. With that said it makes your whole post a bunch of fearmongering nonsense

<audible groan>

Ah yes, these amazing insiders who not only had zero hints out about Sony buying Bungie, but also had no hints prior to Microsoft buying Activision-Blizzard or Zenimax, either.

scary-movie-shawn-wayans.gif

After the fact, they definitely have a lot of convenient "juicy info" to drop, based on things anyone else can guess with some common sense!!

I'm just gonna start calling them Captain Hindsighters from now on.

I also hate the Steam worship from "teh PC gamerz". Their reaction to Epic store was so fucking cringe and embarrassing. Guess what guys, as a PC gamer I think Xbox Game Bar is better than Steam.

The market cap is not what they would go for though.
True, but they aren't going to go for 50 billion when they are only worth 6 either

2x the share value would be attractive to shareholders I imagine, and even that will still come in under what Sony apparently have on hand, minus the Bungie outlay.

Activision market cap is 62 billion for reference here.

Lets be real, Sony could buy square and probably have enough for a down payment on Kojima Pro on the same day.

my point is valid.

We have epic, who are now having 70$ games. Their games are hard to have sales on 3rd party key sellers. MS store is straight up garbage. Practices like these, are why I am afriad of these companies.

While steam is not perfect, its much better than those 2. Having a clueless owner, will impact the way steam operates. Sony axed 3rd party key sellers. Imagine, if the new owner does that.

This is Grubb bullshit.
Its always bullshit 99% of the time, thats why they always do these cryptic clue bullshit. From what he said you could take it as 'Take Two' or EA, or maybe even another studio, and with the curent climate of publishers being bought up, there is obviously a chance one of those will happen, its been speculated for ages now.
The 'insider' then comes out looking informed when one of these buys eventually happens.:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Hmm, let's think about these options:

  • Square Enix - not getting anything you don't already get, but close relationship. Oddly the crown jewel is probably FF14. IP has lost some of its luster in the west.
  • Capcom - have some incredible IP and studios firing on all cylinders. Taking an awful lot away from Nintendo especially if making their games exclusive. Would probably require a high premium.
  • Kojima - if rumors are true then currently making a MS exclusive. Has great relationship with Sony, and games are cool and unique. This is a super likely target.
  • Ember Labs - ehhhh, a single IP studio that is brand spanking new? Not likely. Most of Sony acquisitions are of people who worked with them and impressed them, or major devs (Psygnosis, Insomniac, Bungie).
  • Sega - If Sony really wants to move into the PC market in a bigger way then Sega is a decent addition, if not then what do you do when half their sales are on PC? From an IP perspective Sega has loads, but otherwise most of what they put out today are niche and smaller selling series. Does get you Atlus, but those games are already pretty much "exclusive".
  • Konami - This is a joke. Konami has the worst studios on this list, and you pay a premium for a bunch of businesses that Sony is not involved in. I get they own cool IPs, but the people who think you can just really randomly spin up AAA devs and churn out a game in 3 years from their IP are smoking crazy amounts of peyote
  • Remedy - Not enough of their own IP, but could be a pickup if Sony is just looking for a developer to re-make some IP.
  • FromSoft - Have to buy a bunch of unrelated businesses, but on the other hand Sony owns part of the parent company.
  • Firewalk Studios - See Ember Labs up above
  • Arrowhead Games, Lucid Games,, Deviation, Haven -
Guardians Of The Galaxy GIF

The one you are missing that would be the greatest pickup is Bandai Namco. Games are killing it, Anime and Manga is something Sony is highly invested in, have a good number of IPs, and have good active development studios right now

I think it is a 2x minimum price at the moment honestly and yeah, they could afford it but I don't see them doing anything after that for a while.

Honestly, where is Apple in all of this if they are supposedly working on a new console. They buy one of the big 3rd parties and that gives them the inroads they need to be competitive.

That would make a ton of sense for both companies, but 1. Japan would not allow it, and 2. there is no way some fat video game journalist would scoop an aquisition like this over literally all other journalists.
Japan isn't the issue. The fact that Sony just purchased Bungie would mean they aren't in the process of getting sold.
