I’m hearing nothing but good things from people that have played the Batman game.
Typical, I’m out tomorrow evening and have late night work when I get back.

Same here. I probably won’t be able to actually play it until late Wednesday night, or Thursday afternoon. Being an adult with kids and responsibilities sucks.

Had an odd issue with my Q3 where I’d lost a lot of storage space. In the end I was forced to do a factory reset and re-download stuff.

I also downloaded the latest patched Red Matter 2. It’s hard to believe that’s running natively on Quest 3. Looks better than a lot of PC games.
Batman is stellar. A gold standard VR game.

My screenshots have been taking photos of each eyes view recently.

It didn’t do this in the past. Here’s a screenshot I took a few months ago:

Did I maybe change a setting somewhere? Where can I change it back?

Its so difficult to capture VR screens for me. I can't get them to look as good as they look inside the headset.

I just ordered a Kiwi Design Comfort Battery Headstrap from amazing for $40.

I’ll post my impressions. I’d post a link to the item, but I know some are sensitive to the idea of people getting kickbacks for giving special links or however that works.

I was looking to spruce up my VR gear, to get ready to play all these new games, and wanted to maybe try a cheaper headset with a battery, instead of using my default headstrap and a fanny pack with a battery in it.

Maybe Quest Optimizer, if you have that installed?

I don't really use screenshots so I can't compare, but I know that QGO includes some special settings for capturing 3D videos etc in headset.

Hmmmmm let me try that out.

That was it!!!! I must have changed a capture option from a single eye to 3D!

Thank god that’s fixed.

So I tried it out last night. I found it extremely comfortable and was happy with the added battery life. I use QGO, so the Quest 3’s battery life runs even worse. So with the new headset, and using the QGO, I got 3.5 hours, with my battery at 85%, and the headset battery completely drained.

My Meta Quest 3 was delivered today, the first time you put it on and see all those windows floating around the room is quite unreal (I have zero experience with AR or VR).

I messed around a bit and I'm super happy about the experience in general! Touching/moving objects around feels better than expected... I thought that since there is no physical feedback it would be weird, but no, it feels completely fine.

I immediately bought Virtual Desktop and then started playing Superhot VR (PCVR). Needless to say, I had a blast, and didn't get nauseous since you are mainly stationary in the game. I won't be able to play for a few days but I look forward to trying more games out.

I think the first locomotion game I'll play will be Myst, since it's slow paced. Then maybe I can try Pistol Whip out.

I helped my son today to buy the Quest 3, hes in total unbelieve how VR feels. I'll test it with him at the weekend when i have more time. He talked for the most time how it scaned his room :)

That's how I eased myself into VR. Started with mostly MR games lthen moved to standing but stationary VR games, then roomscale VR like Tea For God before finally moving on to games where there's fast movement using a stick. What really helps is to aim for as high FPS as possible, anything below 72 feels like crap. I'll sacrifice graphics if it means I can get 120 fps when doing PCVR with Virtual Desktop. For standalone games, I use Quest Games Optimizer and use performance mode when possible.

I set Virtual Desktop to 90 fps, do you recommend 120? I'm playing with the AV1 encode at 200Mbps, H264@500 seems too heavy for my WiFi 5 router (even if it shows 1500 bandwidth available playing close to the router, but maybe that's busted).

Out of curiosity I tried the intro of Half Life 2, and yep, I don't think I'm ready for smooth locomotion. :messenger_grinning_sweat: Actually I can go back/forward without problems, but as soon as I move sideways or move the camera (smooth), then I can really feel it.

Currently I bought some other stationary games (Beat Saber, Space Pirate Trainer, Walkabout Mini Golf) as I would like to enjoy the device for a bit before worrying about VR legs.
I will try some AR games as suggested above (First Encounters).

It takes a little time, but you have to push through. Smooth turning is the best option.

mèx mèx , I think a fantastic game to jump in to 3D movement gaming with will be Resident Evil 4: Oculus Edition. I say that because not only are the gameplay mechanics perfect, but it’s also to a game where you’ve likely already beaten numerous times, so you know what to expect, so you can prepare a little more.

It helps a lot if you turn the turn speed up to super high for me. The slower the turn speed the worse it feels, both in gameplay and queasiness.

I'm fine playing at 72fps and above, I don't find 120fps necessary, but in some cases higher framerate looks better. Even 60fps on the PSVR2 which is worse than the Quest (at least until PS5 Pro changing things) is perfectly fine for many things for me.

Yeah, strafing and turning can be disorienting at the start. As for frame rate, it really depends on the game. The faster the movement, the higher I want the FPS. I would try walking around in Walkabout Mini Golf since that's pretty slow paced. Even then I had to use QGO to switch to performance cause I didn't like the default 72 that Walkabout has.

I have been playing thrill of the fight 2. It is quite good. My body is destroyed. I wish I was 20 years old again, the recovery is really bad.
If you need some fitness in your life, you MUST try this, especially if you have decent space for it (2x2.5m, doesn't have to be perfect with passthrough, you can just exaggerate your play space a bit as long as you don't destroy your room).
I am sitting here with sore back and arms (but not the bad kind of sore, if you go too hard you can cause all sorts of tendon damage, so be aware).

Do they have a fun campaign / structured mode to play through or is it mainly just playing multi vs live opponents?

Not yet. It's early access, but it's also $10
They will add it later.

If you want a more polished but gamefied experience try Creed
Something with a series of AI fights that feels close le to boxing would be Thrill of the fight 1

Well, I've started to settle into mine.

I've got Sidequest installed, and Stremio runs much better than I expected. With a capture card, Dex also works well.

I did just get my first bout of motion sickness playing in The Office world. Had to bail on some 10-year-olds for fear I'd be puking live.

The passthrough cameras aren't great. Even in decent light they are grainy, and I can barely read my phone.

I think I'll stick to using a Rokid Max for most videos too, as OLED colours are just... so much better. They much lighter too.

Well, having played around a bit more, the passthrough is borderline acceptable and useable.

It allows for safe navigation and to use it around the house. That's the best that can be said. I couldn't even set up using my phone without lifting up the headset. I can barely read the text on my keyboard.
Yes, cameras need light and you can't expect great passthrough in low light. Even in very well lit rooms the passthrough is a grainy mess.

That said, for the price and the quality of the rest of the headset it is still fantastic.

I actually have no problem with the passthrough at all, can fully use my PC with the headset on, and my phone. Weird. I have much more trouble with the PSVR2 passthrough and trying to read a walkthrough while in game with that headset on is way trickier, same with trying to read my phone.

Like you say though, it's really just useful for moving around the house and mixed reality IMO. I can setup my headset in different rooms and go to where I use it without worrying about running in to anything, and perform most simple tasks without issue.

I can use my PC and phone, but only barely. My phone, I can't even read the passwords in my password manager, so logging into stuff is a right pain.

Looks like I get to post here and share that I got a quest 3 directly from meta should be here tuesday. I also got a good deal on the wireless charger, the rubber face replacement thingy, the replacement head strap with the battery something elite can't remember what it's called, and the carrying case, I think those are all worth easily 300 bucks and I got them for $100. So I'm pretty excited.

I've been catching win of this Bobo website that I guess they have good accessories but as long as that battery thing gets me hopefully double the battery life, I think I'll be content. I know the quest 3 gets about 2 and 1/2 hours or even less if you're using the mixed reality and all that stuff.

I've already got a bunch of games and backlog from when I had an index but any essential apps or tips I would gladly hear it and bullet point form or if you have any links to something I'm all layers. I'm looking into virtual desktop as I want to play it mostly wireless and I understand that's one of the few ways to play walking Dead or some other games without using the wire. If I can have it where it's wireless at all times and not have it together to anything I think that would be a major win.

If you're getting a Quest 3 or 3S don't forget to claim a referral before you setup your device. In December, you get double Meta cash for it. You can do it up to seven days after having already set it up, but you'll have to delete it from your account and factory reset your Quest.

Here's mine if you anyone wants to use it, but you can use any recent one (Reddit has plenty of people): https://www.meta.com/referrals/link/Tams80

Also, for December, a lot of games have 20% off using code CREATOR20. Here's a list with links (I have no idea if this bumps up some creators metrics, but honestly, who cares): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rRQHx_rHKMxWBTr-ns5LziquylSYxuzuNUG_4AE6-YI/htmlview

I ended up getting a BOBOVR S3 Pro Super Strap and PRISMXR VR streaming air link. Had some strong recommendations for both and I'm really eaget to use the Quest 3 cable free. The air link has me really excited as I already really enjoyed the 3s I tried over my wifi 6.
