Why on earth would they call this the Meta Quest Pro? When the Quest 1/2 had a high focus on games.

This should be a completely different product line and named as such.

"Pro" is short for "Professional", so I think the name makes sense. Its easy to to forget the true meaning of "Pro" when marketers co-opt it for things like the PS4 Pro, for instance. The PS4 Professional name doesn't make sense whereas I think Meta Quest Professional does.

It's clear Facebook is moving away from having the headset be gaming focused. You will still play games on it but they will want to now get people used to the thought of wearing a headset when working and doing normal day to day stuff.

Facebook are releasing and positioning this in anticipation of Apple's upcoming headset. You think that will be gaming focused? Apple will want you to wear their headset and use it like you use a smartphone. As such, Facebook will want you to do the same with this headset.

The Quest Pro was always positioned as a productivity and AR device aimed at businesses. Next year they will release the Quest 3 and other kinds of headsets. They are still supporting and pouring money into new games.
