Those who pay for monthly XBL and PSN have to pay for FOB as well? Goddamn that's brutal. I sincerely hope GMP can be used to pay for the FOB function.
Sounds like you can only build struts with MB coins, which are only available through microtransactions.

I am fucking livid about this. Hopefully it's a mistake on Gamespot's part and we can use GMP, but this is exactly the kind of thing Konami would do.

Edit: though this whole thing may be a misunderstanding (fingers crossed).

Edit 2: Looks like everything's okay maybe?

Basically all the optional features that aren't required for the story will have microtransactions. Bummer!

There will be a Cheat Engine script within a day that gives max GMP and Max MB coins. Maybe I should just avoid FOB for that reason, getting invaded by people with maxed out stuff fairly soon after launch because they speed up every facet of production.

So basically, you need to buy water area in the ocean to start building your FOBs. The water can only be bought by MB coin, which is real money. So I assume once you buy the water with MB coin, the rest of the FOB developments will be done with GMP, which is the in-game currency.

Fucking Konami.

Invaders can only bring the standard 2 arms + accessories anyway, so that won't be a problem.

I sure dislike how this mode, this huge mode that looked so promising is DOA just because of Konami.

Well that's something, but yeah completely disappointing. The FOB system looks great.

I love how today all the reviews were how Kojima made a phenomenal game, but Konami has to step in and go "OH HEY GUYS, GUESS WHAT"

EDIT: Apparently Ken pulled a clutch and said you can make MB Coins in single player from various missions and whatnot. That ain't too bad then.

hopefully this isnt a "Well you technically can get enough MB coins for 1 FOB ifffff you do missions over and over again in both normal and hard, alll with S Ranks" like most f2p bullshit

I wonder what difference the territorial water will have for your FOBs, since the prices are different.

Scroll up a bit.

You can play FOB without having to pay after all.

Just like you can play Dungeon Keeper totally normally, right?

Don't let your guard down about this just because you can "earn it by playing." You know how paywalls affect grinding.

I'm guessing this is the ground Kojima let Konami gain to keep the rest of the game from disappearing behind the same system.

gotta say it still reeks of bullshit, a story playthough probably gives you enough for 1 FOB and not much else

Ooooooh. So basically you literally have to pay for that area to expand so you can play FOB. Okay, I get it. So if you're impatient and have to pay to develop new struts instantaneously, then you can probably do the same to open up an FOB ASAP as well.

Totally makes sense now.
Not mad/10.

Wait to see how much digital labor you have to put in. Seriously.

The future is full of microtransaction labor laws. The Cyberpunk tomorrow... today!

Whoa whoa. I'm too scared to delve into the whole night of posting in fear of spoilers but what have I missed?
The review scores so far look great, but the mictrotransaction cat is out of the bag?

Might take a while, but with so much stuff to do in game with missions and whatnot, shouldn't be difficult at all for anyone that's going to really spend some time with the game.

I believe that's the argument used for Mother Base, but I don't think that's gonna apply as well to FOBs. This has gotta be Konami's way of making Konami-style money after Kojima's gone. Can't wait to see how we'll be squeezed playing MGO, as well.

Wonder if all that was the reason for post-poning?
Or has MGO always released on a later date from main game?

MGO was supposed to launch day one along side the main game. But I guess development is taking much longer than anticipated thus leading to the delay. IMO I'm okay with the MGO3 delay, I'm gonna be so busy with the main story for months I wouldn't touch MGO3 until well into the next year most likely.

I didn't realize their embargos were later than the US. I thought it seemed a bit light, only 7 reviews on Metacritic.

Well Videogamer.com said their review embargo ends on 9am BST. Also we haven't seen Europeans reviews like Eurogamer so I assume they have different emabrgo from the US.

WAIT WHAT?

Or not?

For reals though, does anyone know anything for sure regarding this? I'm guessing it's supposed to be a feature that opens up later in the game but you pay to get it early. Once your first FOB is ready you start getting coins and whatnot through missions, just a guess.

This talk about final bosses and endings is a bit much. Wouldn't you think someone would get fired for such a thing? Why are they getting paid to show us what we're spending real money to find out for ourselves?

A disclaimer in the eyes of the internet is like looking at porn. You go onto the site and enter a birth date that is over 18 years of age. They aren't carding you, they don't ask you what your CC info is, or anything.

I'm a bit peeved that whoever would do such a thing would be doing it to gloat. It totally made Batman a bit less appealing knowing who the Arkham Knight was from IGN's comment section. I just think we should be entitled to something with a product. Video Games are not like films at all. They don't need to be because that's what you pay money to experience. I just don't get these journalist at all.

You have guys the same age as myself writing these reviews. We were all there at the same time when MGS came out over the years and yet they're pushing as much content as possible just because they think we won't bat an eye. I think these new games are eaten up by the press and series like MGS fall under this "job premise".

I don't want MGS spoiled when I am sitting here a week before launch with money put into a few things that these guys get for free or they're just showboating more and more screens. I was on the day 1 train the day they announced it. I just don't see what makes them go a head and spoil the entire game's ending. The ending boss to any game is a big deal.

Greg Miller is probably what 1 or 3 years younger than me. I went to Babbages and bought MGS. He got a job writing about games and gets to spoil bosses for people. That guy wouldn't have been liked if he had done that around gamer(s), but since he's in the circle he gets to do it. I think it's a bunch of bull that these guys use their job as this tool while we grew up the very same way if not paying more money for our games to begin with.

He's in with the crowd who gets their copy early with everyone else and is told to make a video. Is it true? How senile is that? That's horrible.

Have we seen any alt outfits besides
DD BDU
Battle Dress
Sneaking suit(TPP)
Sneaking suit(GZ)
?

Kinda hoping the medic/Kojima's uniform is available or the XOF uniform.

He spoiled the first boss, not the last.

I'm glad to hear because 70% of what you get from sneak peaks is just like stealing $10 out of your pocket.

It's like that guy who comes into your group and starts telling you what you'll expect for your money. The reason I play games is not to be told what I'm buying from someone else. I think video games rely on the actual experience and not necessarily the exposure society is cashing in on right now.

From quick snippets from the trailers, different camo pattern BDUs. The CE/Day 1 ads have shown Blue Urban and Black Ocelot BDUs if I recall correctly.

I'm back guys. I see that you don't spoil anything here and that's relieving...

About the FOB:

I don't know if it's already been posted, but look at the currency they use for FOB purchase.
MB Coins....unless its some kind of GMP scaling, like 100 silver coins make 1 gold in some games, i fear it's microtransactions....

rjp6kGU.png

It seems i was right but the sad thing is, that i am going to buy all three of them eventually...

I don't want to be spoiled either but that's a bit over the top. Having the initial surprise sucks but are you saying you don't replay games because it's worthless knowing when you know what happens. If a game is good, the gameplay and story is still enjoyable whether you know what happens or not. That's what you're paying for.
