Guys, which Sound mode suits better for MGSV with the Gold/Silver headsets ? Or which customization presets would give me the better sound ?

So... hear me out.

The following is a series of thoughts i've been pondering about for a while now. I tagged it as spoiler since i am discussing some of the meta commentary and potential misdirection of Kojima and the game.

I am around 30% of the game done... so have not even finished it. lol.

What if the whole theme of TPP is not only related to missing what used to be there. But also the distorted morals of people when they look up to someone? In this case not only Big Boss, but Kojima himself, and what Kojima Productions represent to the media and the masses.

One of the tapes has Kaz and BB talking about how different groups are taking his actions and words and distorting them to justify their means. He quotes "It takes a person of the same caliber to understand another great man" or something like that, i am paraphrasing. They go on and on about how they are misunderstood and the people are just plain stupid. lol

The whole idea is that people just want to hear what they want to hear. They look up to just little bits of the whole picture, and then draw their own set of goals or impressions, even opinions based on them. Taken, of course, out of context. So what if TPP has meta commentary outside of the game. So what if Kojima still has a lot to reveal on TPP?

We already know that the ending misdirects everything... so part of it has the whole missing limb feelings to it. But what about Kojima? We believe that he left... we mourn his departure.. and even when they took away the A Hideo Kojima Game we attach to that and make a big deal. Its like we feel it should still be there. So what if this was intentional? I am not trying to say that maybe he never left Konami.... but in a lot of ways, his writing and presentation of themes are so universal that they seem to apply to a lot of things outside of the game.

So what if he wants to surprise people with more content to the campaign after the fact? and what if he has more up his sleeve that he has not revealed?

Knowing Kojima i don't think i would be surprised if he did, but know i would be surprised that he fooled everyone once again.

This also ties well into the ending of the game. Which i guess has a lot of the same format. But i can't say for sure until i see how everything ties together. But as is, it looks like a big setup to a followup that could be pretty big.

TL;DR Kojima is a troll, he makes me think way too much.

Any thoughts?

Um...having finished the story myself, I think you're not to far off the mark. However you probably should finish the game, get all 3 endings, and the the "Truth" tapes.
By that point, you might have a completely different take away from it.

Is.... is it bad that I sorta want to buy some of the DLC if it's cool enough?

Even though I hate Konami for what they did?

God I'm a part of the problem.

*cries*
I feel the same way. As I progressed through the game, I was a bit dismayed by the lack of camo unlocks and such. If DLC comes, I'll bite my tongue. :p

SPOILER! don't read unless you've finished the game.
From what i have seen, read and spoiled myself. I think the ending is far fetched. But when i put it in context with everything that is happening and the theme of the game. it makes sense.

Medic being the character you play as is completely related to the whole you are just a mirage of who you want to be. It makes sense in that light. In any other way it would just be dumb. Like playing as Raiden.

So i dunno... i feel Kojima left a lot of the game with big plot holes on purpose. and i feel he will release something else to surprise people after the fact.

How do i get the remaining %?

Develop all items and weapons? S-Rank all missions and complete all optional objectives? That's all I can come up with.

Have you done all of the optional mission objectives for each mission? You probably need to do those. Probably getting S ranks, too.

Edit: yeah what Cryo said :p

To add to this is seeing all the cutscenes needed? Because apparently to see a certain cutscene you need your GMP to go into red, and also there's one (kind of spoilery?)
to celebrate you birthday as well

My takeaway is that the game as a whole is basically just one big adaptation of David Bowie's Song, "The Man Who Sold the World." Which according to Wikipedia, is about a man who encounters his doppelganger, who is later implied to be an alter ego of the title character.
MGSV kinda took it both ways. Venom isn't just his doppelganger, he basically IS Big Boss mentally. Or at least an idealized version of him.

Its kinda lame if you think about it.

The game in my eyes was going to be him spiraling down into madness... we see Big Boss turn into the real demon. But also doing it in a way that makes us feel fragmented an support his actions that maybe later we would feel bad about. He is righteous in his mind... and justfied... but how much or how far can he go?

That was what i wanted from TPP. A game that had sequences of nightmares that haunted him. Delusions mixed with illusions, mixed with metal gear.

But the game putting you as a doppleganger nulls all of that. Whatever you do in the game in the end is not you as big boss... looses impact. Because you think you are doing the right or bad thing, but non of them relate to what really happens.

IMO... its trying too hard to misdirect.

It does however strongly imply that the Big Boss that Solid Snake defeated in MG1 was indeed Venom though. Which would also explain why he magically came back in the sequel. If only to get torched in the face. Though ironically Venom can take Eli's Petrol bombs like it's nothing.

I get it... but still... in the end it reads more like a spinoff than something canon. you know?

Something I think is still dumb about MGS2's big AI codec conversation: AI Rose and Campbell lecturing Raiden on being "selfish" and not "trying to reach out." He's a child soldier who never went through nearly enough psychological rehabilitation. He was the only one who "hated his past," while the others suffered every day because of it? That sounds like the other soldiers are barely-functional and still completely addled with PTSD. It just comes off as some serious bullshit to expect Raiden to act like a normal person and mock him for not doing so.

MGS4 is over ... finally ...i can drop the controller

I AM FREE FROM THIS MEME , I AM FREE SURPRISE BUTTON PROMPT
I AM FREE...TO SHUT DOWN MY PS3...ONE...LAST ...TIME

Old-Snake-Salute-300x168.jpg

anyway...time for some questions about MGS4

at the first i didn't believe that liquid possess ocelot , so in the end ocelot was in total control ?
then why i fight him last time ?

the patriots helped me to take down liquid who was in fact ocelot in disguise ?...i don't get it
the patriots are gone , eva and ocelot worked together to get back big boss body
why didn't eva join ocelot ?

so , in the end original idea of zero mutated and the new AI who is drifted away created the war
so i was fighting skynet ?

1. Ocelot lost control the second he decided to become Liquid. It was Liquid's "ghost" in MGS4 the entire time until about the MGS3 part of the fight.

2. Because Ocelot was Liquid, not Ocelot.

3. yes

Vita is not the HD version tho. Just FYI.

HD collection on emulator would be best probably. Whatever you do tho.. HD Collection for sure. Specially since they add the native controller second stick support. Even when you can map the d pad to the right joystick on the vita.

PSP version is the same for the vita... not HD. Cool thing is you can remap the d pad to the right stick. I would map left and righ to the stick. and up and down to the right up and lower corners of the screen. worked perfect.

HD on ps3 has all that figured out from the get go.

Dunno how it runs on emulator tbh. But PC always trumps everything else.

don't forget the psp version is 20fps locked compared to the 60fps in the HD collection

oh , forgot this question about the ending in MGS4

Brau, you should take a look into the spoiler thread or ask AAMARMO to send you the pic that
Takes the ending and makes you doubt what you just seen and heard. Seriously it points out some major discrepancies in the "Truth" scenes.

My take on it is this, Ishmael IS a hallucination, nothing ever happened in regards to a body double, Zero had Ocelot use Hypnosis on Big Boss to make him believe in time that he wasn't Big Boss, It's hard to explain but it's kind of like reverse hypnosis, how would Venom know BB rode off on a Motorbike with Ocelot 3 hours AFTER he got on the ship with Ocelot? it was all implanted into Venoms head to make him doubt he was Big Boss. Seriously watch the full truth ending and look at times of day Ocelot got back to Venom, the bridge to the lighthouse as well as the time of day that Big Boss rode of on the bike. Non of it makes sense. Especially if you watch the last scene in OH where Venom is listening to BB's tape. It's all in his head, a demon, SMOKE AND MIRRORS. it tells us at the start of the game that it's OH, but when Venom punches the mirror and sees BB in the reflection how come the insignia changes to OH? That'd mean BB was actually in OH and not venom. Furthermore ask yourself is a doppelgänger and a phantom the same thing?

MGS4 ending spoilers I guess. Do we actually need to tag those? Anyway,
at the first i didn't believe that liquid possess ocelot , so in the end ocelot was in total control ?

They're two old soldiers who have been fighting their entire lives with nothing left to fight for. May as well just fight it out to see who wins. That's why they inject each other with the nano machines, they want to keep fighting.

I got ignored in the other thread. Does anyone have the OST for the game? I want to get it, but its only import. Don't want to deal with that just yet. So if anyone can share it with me, i will be eternally grateful.

Listen to this beauty. So good.

After doing missions 25-29 yesterday I think I'm taking a break from main missions for a while. This damn story bullshit is getting the way of my open world Fulton game, lol. I was seriously freaking out the whole time.

I pre-purchased on steam-- wasn't I supposed to get some stuff? I dunno if I got the "V" emblem, but I really don't care about that. I think I got some guys, but wasn't there supposed to be some kind of video?

brau

Thanks, dude! How did you even find that? I tried looking in my library, and on my game page...

Part of the streaming service i guess. Doesn't download like other games extras on to your folder. Just looked for the name of the preorder video, found that.

Kinda tricky tho. Wish the link was included in the main TPP game page. So you know where to find it. Even in the store page would make more sense.

Finally played all the way lethally and went Rambo on an outpost trying to get my people back. It felt satisfying to call in an air strike use decoys and go guns blazing.

Does this game have in-game stat tracking? I need to know exactly how many headshots I've made.
