who cares. we're debating over two pointless animals who don't affect anything on way or the other. doesn't really make much difference anyway, everything about this game just feels so pointless and meaningless by the end. honestly this game just feels like a waste. and that's what's so frustrating. kojima kept talking about how he wanted the game to be for fans, yet he spoiled 90%+ of the story in trailer -including the twist lol- (people bring up past games but he never gave away every major and minor sequence of action and voice acting prior to release, even if he did give away crucial moments), he took away the series long-time voice actor, which i dont really care about but the reason he gave was such trash considering he utilizes kiefer for the beginning and end and hardly anything inbetween. you cant make someone like snake (with a dominant personality) suddenly be a mute. it makes no sense, in any context. even after the ending. mother base can POTENTIALLY be this safe haven for solders you recruited, personally, who all play a very pivotal role in a certain mission late-game, but apart from that ONE SEQUENCE (though yes very moving), mother base may as well be a tin can. the cassette tapes may be the biggest disappointment of them all. i mean WOW there is more worthwhile content in maybe two or three Chico tapes than there is THE ENTIRETY of TPP's tapes unless you looooooooooove you some WOLBACHIIIIIIIA lengueageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Eeeeeeeeeeeeenglish streighnnnnnnnnnnnnnn-- oh or that they are used to kill/explain away just about every PW character off-screen. this game is such a damn cop out in so many respects that it isn't even funny.

"The Ultimate Scale!" that is just open fields of nothing that are worth a look if you like taking screen caps I guess? OPEN WARUDO
"The Ultimate Story!" loooooool that can't even answer ENORMOUS questions presented within the game itself (and not in a mgs2 "ooooo i get it, i am raiden" kinda way, just in a lackluster manner)
"The Ultimate Metal Gear!" "hey snake you may wanna stop that metal gear cuz ppl may find out about it, who cares if it would actually pose a threat to anyone tho"

There's a line Kaz has late game. "What was it all for?" Funny, I've never had a game's script just spit out exactly how I felt like I did when I heard that. The amount of headcanon this game requires is utter nonsense and quite frankly, pretending the series ended at Ground Zeroes is just fine with me.

This is not a classic MGS. This is an assic MGS. But woo who it got people who never liked metal gear into metal gear hooray that will bode well for the future of the franchise im sure. I'd never had anything bad to say about Kojima but yeah this game is a huge disappointment in many major areas of what MGS delivers on - story (popcorn flick in comparison to past mgs. battlefield 4 type story with a bit of supernatural mixed in), music (yawn all of the best tracks came out of ground zeroes. oh wait we have sins of the father let's just awkwardly mash it into this already-awkward scene in which two opposing characters stare through each others souls and may as well be mashing pissers.), characters - "It's opposite day!" (Snake doesn't become a demon - in fact, he's indifferent about everything because he's yanked around by the main supporting cast all game. Ocelot feels bad about torture, Huey is more evil than big boss, Eli is actually kinda interesting), bosses - ohmygod absolutely disgusting. here, have 3 variants of the skulls. (kojima: "this game will feature many bosses" looool). Chapter 2, ohmygod wot - gives away everything in chapter 2 away in a pointless and unecessary trailer - which btw, there is almost zero story in chapter 2, it's just chapter 1 missions with modifiers to make you feel like big boss oooooooooooooooooo so deeppppppppp lol more like content padding because the game got rushed out (whether it be Kojima or Konami's fault who cares) but yeah Kojima molyneux-ed the hell out of so many aspects of this game. oh well gameplay is awesome, so one day I'll treat this game as binding of isaac or spelunky and just enjoy it for its gameplay, but i don't see that day coming anytime soon. oh yeah though thought quiet was awesome, she stands out on her own and steals every scene, surprised people hate her character/treatment so much when she's more badass and has more worthwhile to say than anyone in the game lol
I completely agree. Virtually every aspect of the story fails.

I wonder what Kojima really thinks of the final product.

I got a crazy teory that Quiet is EVA's and Big Boss's daughter.
#Team Q FTW!!

PS I've just finished mission 15, so there's a lot in front of me.

Except that I didn't like Quiet's story, especially her final mission/ending

If there was one thing I really did like about MGSV's story, it would be that in mission 30/31
the way Snake and Kaz get their "revenge" is really grisly and disturbing. There really is no gore in the game despite lots of blood and limb loss, but the way Snake just coldly blasts off Skull Face's limbs for Kaz kind of shook me. It also helped by showing the healthy PW/GZ Kaz briefly covered in blood and SF's groaning and gasping in pain. Then fucking Huey goes and cheeses the scene up.

Yeah it was very well done,
revenge isn't supposed to be a glorious feat, it's disgusting and accomplishes nothing. Huey's reaction juxtaposes the concept really well since it just seems childlike and pitiful. I thought it was a more well done point in the game, too.

I think Quiet might be the best new character in tpp

Yeah I actually really love her character, despite the blatant oversexualization. I also like how Huey is done in the game because
of how it makes Otacon look in comparison, seeing how he didn't follow in his father's footsteps and become a weak piece of shit.

I like how Drew correctly guesses the big twist in the first episode

It's not that hard to see this twist tbh. Kojima has gone full idiot with all the trailers. The first trailer revealed the twist.

But it is. There are people who don't watch trailers or read the interwebs. They just wait and get the game and play. So for them the twist is something huge.

It isn't. Also Drew watched all the trailers. You make your own avatar and the other guy has the voice of Kiefer. Even Brazil called it from a preview event.

But sorry, I promised I won't talk bad about this game anymore in here.

no lies detected

lately I've been thinking... a game like MGSV would have been perfect if it took place before the les enfants terribles project started in the MGS canon. light on story and heavy on gameplay. and that gameplay is awesome and make you feel like a bad ass mother fucker, just like it did with this game. of course, this is all to get across the idea that big boss is the world's greatest soldier and this is why he is ultimately cloned. a story lite metal gear can work, it just has to be very specific circumstances.

light on story is the last thing I expected with a game that bridged the gap between big boss' story and metal gear 1 :(

Bit of a stretch sayign he Molyneux'd it, he actually delivered a very good product that is immensely fun. It just wasn't the metal gear the fans expected or deserved story wise sadly.

Would have been nice to have it finished too, think Kiefer was a good choice, Hayter would've butchered a lot of the lines,
particularly the man who sold the world tape at the end

Just got the real ending and I can't see why people didn't like it. I loved it. Very Kojima.

Well I guess I know WHY people didn't like it, but Kojima never does what people expect anyway.

The only side missions i have left to do are the motherbase target practice, some of these are though, the targets are really hard to find. :(

Ohh look. Another patronising post as to why people didn't like the story in the game.

So tell me, why didn't i like the ending then. ?

No. The game's story is shit. Complete and utter shit. Thank god for MGO3.

Just started chapter 2 and feel like not continuing to play tbh...the fuck is up with the rehashed missions? And I also need to do side ops to advance the story? Disgusting. Even if the gameplay is amazing...everything else just flat out sucks.

Honestly I just youtubed the ending and the tapes. I just have no drive to even go further. It is what it is I suppose.

God damned mission 16!
I don't have fulton cargo 2 and don't stand any chance against those fuckin' freaks.
What is the easiest way to obtain Transportation Specialist?

To get what you need, check the top right when picking a mission, you should see a list of thing you can collect, go through older missions and you should find what you need. I believe.

So there isn't any other option?
No problem then, just got to get my shit together and stop playing John Rambo.

I think there is one on a mission you've probably already unlocked
Angel with a Broken Wing
.

You can always (Mission 16)
drive the truck out
like a Boss, although that is a shit ton more difficult.

After you finished the game, I would advise you to watch Bunnyhops Review/Analysis of MGSV. He is totally on point. This game has no personality and lacks diversity for a game that is over 50 hours long.

I've tried that yesterday but it's rather impossible because
Skulls are jumping on truck's cabin and after three or four of those jumps it's destroyed.

As off
Transport Specialist
, mission description says that there's one in
Pitch Dark
and
Angel with a Broken Wing
. I've tried the latter but with no success. Maybe I shouln't have been requesting those bombardments? :)

You can kinda chees the mission, easy S-rank if you have the Fulton upgrade that you can fulton trucks.

Just run to the back of the airport, google the mission on youtube, and fulton the turck, run away, call d-horse. Really easy that way.

Trick I learned with
The Skulls on the Phantom Limb mission is that they very slowly zero in on your position, even when they have no idea where you are. So if your patient, you can draw them away from paths or objectives then circle around them.

That's how I got Perfect Stealth on Phantom Limbs and Mission 16. Fulton makes the latter easier but if you can draw them far enough away from the truck (40m) I reckon you can ride it out of Dodge City fairly unmolested.

After you finished the game, I would advise you to watch Bunnyhops Review/Analysis of MGSV. He is totally on point. This game has no personality and lacks diversity for a game that is over 50 hours long.

I disagree with those last points but to each their own. The game is unquestionably suffused with Kojima's unique voice and the variety in missions is very much left in the hands of the player.

To elaborate on the latter, the objectives aren't all that important (although I'd argue things are mixed up fairly regularly to keep players on their toes). The variety is in how one completes these missions. No one would complain about the lack of variety in a Hitman game simply because the objectives are all identical, right? In both cases, the players are given incredibly robust gameplay systems and a smorgasbord of tools with which to manipulate them. Simply because some players only wish to play optimally or lack the imagination to mix things up doesn't mean the game lacks variety. If you'll forgive the crude comparison, this is (IMO) Metal Gear for the Minecraft generation, where the objectives are secondary to the "journey" (how one completes the mission and the game reacts to the player's decisions).

I don't know about the story but the gameplay of MGSV is the natural evolution of everything that has gone before it. Each base/outpost is both a classic MGS room writ large and a full MGS game in miniature. Personally, I think it's brilliant and everything I was both promised and hoped for. However fucked the story becomes, I can safely say this supplants MGS2/3 as the MGS I come back to for years to come.

Let's just agree to disagree.

And I am also not talking about the gameplay/infiltration, I am talking about the fact that there is a lack of diversity of mission obejectives in the game. Heck, Ground Zeroes even was more creative than the whole of TPP. You had to use a cassette tape to locate Paz's location, none of this is in TPP.
