Let's just agree to disagree.

And I am also not talking about the gameplay/infiltration, I am talking about the fact that there is a lack of diversity of mission obejectives in the game. Heck, Ground Zeroes even was more creative than the whole of TPP. You had to use a cassette tape to locate Paz's location, none of this is in TPP.

Like I said, I personally don't think that's an issue given the multitude of ways you can approach the same objective (a la Hitman). I also think the game sufficiently plays with your expectations regarding certain objectives to keep the player on their toes (taking hostage extraction as an example:
The Child Soldier escort mission, the mansion escape, the prisoner that escapes in the jeep, the prisoner hunted in the woods, The Skulls attacking during the Kaz extraction, having to follow the interrogator to find the prisoner's location, stopping the execution of prisoners etc.
).

Trick I learned with
The Skulls on the Phantom Limb mission is that they very slowly zero in on your position, even when they have no idea where you are. So if your patient, you can draw them away from paths or objectives then circle around them.

That's how I got Perfect Stealth on Phantom Limbs and Mission 16. Fulton makes the latter easier but if you can draw them far enough away from the truck (40m) I reckon you can ride it out of Dodge City fairly unmolested.
I'll try that today, thanks.

So took my time building Rex's railgun on the Kotobukiya model, paint it(even camo)....
ball joint snaps as soon as I attach it to Rex.

Anyone know where this is from?

Hopefully that means the Marines' Ray is on the way.

MGSV is now my favorite, it is special to me maybe because it is the first metal gear i played at launch, got through the story without being spoiled prior to playing and the controls, design and gameplay is top notch imo but i can say that Peace Walker which is my former favorite has a better story.

heh i havent even finished the game yet (still like mission 32 or something) but I feel like I know how the game will end because Kojima spoiled everything in trailers. I don't think there's been a single cutscene that hasn't been shown in one of the many trailers. lel

keep playing man, you're in for a surprise lol

I have also watched all the trailers i mean i haven't read/watch spoilers when others got their copy early.

It seems like everyone but hardcore MGS fans like V. Not saying anyone is right or wrong, this is just what I noticed.

Story wise not as good as the first four for me but I enjoyed it overall(better than PW's singing A.I's). Gameplay wise, I fucking love it, best of the series by far and damn addicting because of the sheer freedom, tools you have and how good just everything feels. The people who say GZ is better should go play it again after playing TPP, the salt over this game is fascinating to me really.

I went in with no expectations(like I do with all my entertainment shit) and came out enjoying aspects of the story, disliking others but overall loving it. I guess people watched the trailers 100000000000000000000 times + analyzed every frame and went in with expectations up the ass when we all know Kojima has been misleading us ever since MGS2 when it came to trailers. Ever since then it's become a trail of twists and tricks.

Being mislead by a Kojima trailer is great. Being mislead into thinking a game will have a story when it doesn't is a problem though. Especially with Metal Gear.

So I did Mission 30/31
Skull Face
last night. Super easy to 'No Trace' through but a cracking mission nonetheless. Very tense. Loved the now famous line at the end. Fiddle levels of awesome.

So, without spoilers further ahead than that, I get the sense people don't like the
Vocal Cord Parasites? They're all but lifted wholesale from William S Burroughs, so I didn't find them all that weird. Quite a cool reference. I imagine they're going to end up the precursor to the nanomachines in some capacity.

Kicking myself that I wasn't able to
stymie the epidemic,
but that really made those last few missions nerve-racking. Loved the boss fight with
The Skulls too, that cutscenes was great. Classic zombie horror.

A wild hyperbolic statement appears...!

Please Screaming. Wait till you've finished chapter 2 before you guess why people don't like this game. Please.

You got me all wrong, Shy. I've already been told in this very thread that
the parasites
aren't the reason people hate the game as a whole. It's a separate query regarding the general consensus on
the parasites
specifically. Posters have been mentioning them in derisive tones ("Don't forget the...", "Wait till you get to the...", "Did you enjoy hearing about the..." etc.), so I was just wondering why.

Don't know how you managed to be on GAF without getting the ending spoiled. Maybe you did already, who knows.

Me? The only things I've had spoiled are
the parasites (THANKS CHAKRA KHAN), the variable difficulty missions, and the Sniper Wolf costume for Quiet.
That's three things more than I've had spoiled for any other MGS.

That's not too bad. I got the ending spoiled in the OT.

Really? Fuuuck.

I generally skip to the bottom of a page and ignore anyone who isn't replying to me or clearly asking gameplay questions. :D

I was only really pissed about the first one, but it was an accident and I'm there now, so fuck it.

It was so stupid they didn't spoiled the ending directly but what they posted was a confirmation of the theory I had.

Just like Brau once wrote in the community thread that Joosten voiced Quiet and jumped to the conclusion that she would talk and Dawg came and wrote "That's a spoiler". Lol.

Never forget.

The entire set of trailers were basically all a big fat lie because we don't even get to actually experience first hand how BB turned bad, lol. It doesn't connect the story in a meaningful way and just retconned everything the previous games did.

Doesn't also help that every cutscene in the game was shown in the trailers so there was almost no more story to tell in the actual game. Hell even some scenes were cut in the final product.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

The trailers were straight up false marketing.

Also hello MG GAF, first time posting in this thread despite hounding every MG thread elsewhere on this site

I genuinely can't think of a single Kojima directed game in the Solid series that hasn't done that in some way.

EDIT: Oooo maybe MGS2?

The trailers were straight up false marketing.

Genuine question (don't lynch me): which trailer was it that actually said we'd witness BB turning bad firsthand?

Also: hi!

thats it?

I wrote my thoughts in the spoiler thread. I'm very torn. :p

I successfully did it! I kind of saw the twist coming, but I didn't get it spoiled! The only thing I got spoiled for was
parasites
and
Quiet leaving
. Honestly, I'm not sure how I didn't get spoiled. But go me.

i really like
venom

he is really growing on me compared to
big boss, fuck big boss

Nah, man
BB is still way cooler. Venom is just you.

My copy arrives this weekend. I caved and I know the twist but I'm still ignorant of a lot so I think I'll still enjoy the game.
