You should use that 'hide unwanted threads' code, Meaty.

I have not clicked into the spoiler thread once because of it.

As far as I know, I am 100% unspoiled for MGSV. It's a nice feeling. Looking forward to seeing everything 100% fresh eyeballs.

As in, a plate of fresh eyeballs on my lap when I boot the game up. I like medieval French cuisine, what can I say.

Fortunately, the only things that have been spoiled for me are two (what I assume to be) Easter Egg type things and a (kind of) gameplay mechanic that I already assumed would be in it based on
GZ and the rest of the series
(I would've liked them to be surprises but not too big a deal).

I'm going in to TPP with pretty much the same level of knowledge I had for every other game in the series, which is all I can ask for in the age of interwebs really.

Off-Topic: you seem like the kind if cool and together gentleman who likes Chris Morris.

I'm currently playing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. I ever only gave it one chance, and thus completed it once back at launch in 2008, on a SDTV while on vacation, so right now I'm going through it on my own pace.

The game ruined MGS2 and the series for me back in the day, but I figured I would go through it on my HDTV, and explore and give it time. I really love Act 1 at the moment, and the whole war economy, weapons customizations, auto-camo and such.

Anyone in Germany near Essen - Nordrhein-Westfalen with info about retailers giving copies out early? Would love to play it this weekend. :(

I'm starting to wonder if the game doesn't have some secret ending à la Peace Walker that reviewers have not seen because it requires so much time to reach.

This is just getting cruel at the stores... They removed the pre-order boxes from the shelves and have the strategy guide as well as mad max in Stock but no metal gear....

One guy told me, Konami would not send copies to his store until Monday....

I don't know what to think or do anymore... =(

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
The impressions in that impressions thread are killing me, hurry up monday!

There is a reason why each game negates the ending of its prior installment.

Talked with "Angelica" for 20 minutes. Amazon customer service people may as well not even exist, I couldn't get the simplest nugget of information from them. "is there an issue with this shipment?" I dunno "Do you know what warehouse this might ship from? I dunno "Where's the nearest warehouse to Detroit?" I dunno

If my CE doesn't ship by Lions kickoff tonight I'm going
nuclear

all of this new zealand will it or wont it talk couldve been avoided if konami just allowed to preload like every other company. just saying

Asked in spoiler thread but didn't get a response.
I know you can go crazy customizing our MB/FOBs, however are we able to customize the soldiers/guards assigned to it?

Just as an example, make all of the base black but have the guards all wearing red BDUs.

they had a week if they wanted to put in pre-load they clearly could of.

3 days to preload is better than none

I said it the other day and it rang true for a couple people. And keep this completely in mind for MGS4 when you replay:

There are two kinds of Metal Gear fans in the world. Those who catch the wink and the nods and those who miss it. Know it's on a balancing beam of completely self serious, informative, and captivating and tongue in cheek, intentionally campy, tropecentric roller coaster.

I like to think about MGS being an action movie, MGS2 being postmodern art, MGS3 is Bond camp, and MGS4 is an action movie parody. And I think none of those take from the others. If Liquid is going to mimic the end of 1 then yell JUST KIDDING then this is some Evil Dead level camp.

Did y'all read about Kojima's dream ending for MGS4? Can't really spoil anything since it all pertains to Solid Snake and his mission is ka-poot.

the one that explains why "Here's to You" has become a series staple?

pretty interesting, they were talking about it on the giant bombcast earlier this week.

I reckon MGS1 is the action movie parody. MGS4 is a parody of... Metal Gear?!

I read this article on the influence Twin Peaks had on True Detective and this particular quote stood out to me...

"Both characters welcome visions and dreamscapes into their professional investigation, but Rust’s seem unwanted, like a bad habit, as he “mainlines the secret truth of the universe” with woe. Critics of the show have pointed out that True Detective collapses under its own weight when it takes itself too seriously, and this is exactly where Lynch shines—Twin Peaks’s joy in the frivolity of genre conventions creates for a wacky, yet mystifying experience, with the serious moments becoming all the more shocking in the face of such lightheartedness."

....and this is why I firmly believe that Kojima is a Lynch fan, which excites me about tpp.
