Slightly irritating that knocked out soldiers always wake up when you fulton them.
I must admit the 80's music really reminds me of my early teenage years.

Does anyone know what we need to do in GZ to get ready for TTP?

If I'm not mistaken you don't need to complete 100% of the game and complete everything in both difficulties.

Here is what you need :

Complete DeJa Vu mission to get the Sneaking Suit
and
Rescue every POW and unique targets.

Is there any way to check preload download progress from the PS4 OS? I had to unplug my system for a few hours today and as far as I can tell the game isn't downloading yet even though reports have it that preloads started around 2pm.

Nice OT.

Got my Collector's Edition last Saturday, put about 24 hours into it and still only barely scratched the surface. It's going to take 1000 hours to 100% this game.

How reviewers beat this in 30 hours is beyond me, truly.

So, I plan on mainlining main missions for quite a while before touching side-missions.
How much do you seem to lose out on by not tackling side-ops immediately? Assuming you'll be able to play them at any point in the game, this theoretically wouldn't be an issue -- or would those who've played the game recommend interspersing regular play with side-ops as they come up.

I was under the impression that the sneaking suit was something you get for just importing a save, period? This image implies that too.

Is it confirmed that Raiden stuff transfers over? Seems odd to me that it would.

I have no knowledge about about the Raiden stuff, I'm not sure if its an easter egg from TPP or a transfer from GZ.

About the Sneaking Suit I was under the same impression too, but I read in another thread, I don't remember which one was if it was the MGSV Impressions thread or the MGSV Spoiler thread, but someone who already played the game wrote that you need to complete the DeJa Vu mission in order to get the Sneaking Suit, I'm not sure if its correct or not, I completed the DeJa Vu mission just in case.

Jason Kidd murdered my dog in cold blood!
Played about 20 hours this week.

Spent 15 of those hours riding my horse across barren land from mission to mission.

Alright.

Put in a marathon 8 hour gameplay session today to cap off my weekend playing. My head hurts, but my heart is happy.

It's kind of everything I was afraid of, which is going to sound stupid when I explain it. I'm nervous about open world games these days because they tend to inspire me to play in these marathon stretches that leave me feeling worn out at the end. There's always one more thing to do. MGSV is totally like that. There are a huge number of side ops, and the story missions are really extensive. And considering how methodically I played a lot of the open world stuff, I sunk a ton of time into the game while still being far, far from the end.

I'm trying to find healthier ways to play. The nice thing about the Side Ops is that you can take them less seriously, since they aren't graded and lack the exfiltration conditions of the story missions, meaning you can just warp back to the chopper once the objective is achieved. The more annoying time sink is the Mother Base itself. I don't mind all the menu-related stuff, and building it up has a meaningful and rewarding impact on your time in the field. The real issue is the base itself. It's nothing more than a nice reminder of what you're achieving, which is awesome to see. But moving around it is a pain in the ass, and the mechanics that keep you there (the shower, soldier morale) are much less rewarding than sending your men on missions or having them make things for you.

The missions are fantastic. Earlier on they could be fairly easy, but now the base infiltrations require a lot more sophistication to pull them off without alerting or killing anyone. And the objectives are incredibly open-ended and flexible most of the time. The game just about always rewards thoughtful play, and it just about never spits out a game over for missing some scripted point. One of my favorites so far was
a timed mission where I was tasked with destroying various important vehicles traveling across the map. Racing back and forth setting up ambushes here and there, rushing in resupplies for my limited explosives, trying to pull off an impromptu prisoner rescuer all the while...
the moments of improvisation in this game can be just as thrilling as executing a well thought-out plan.

After the intro the story has been pretty thing (yay!), and what is there is anime ridiculousness to set up questions, but whatever. That's not why I'm here.

I have a question for the people that have the game.

Does the game have multiple saves or is it like Ground Zeroes?

I just copied this from a neogaf user Tabris from the GZ gamesave transfer thread :

Current information so far:

- Need to extract 19 POWs and Agents through out the missions for 19 Volunteers in TPP. Just needs to be done on Normal.
- Need to beat Ground Zeroes Mission for the Sneaksuit Costume
- Need to beat Deja Vu for Snake Costume
- Need to beat Deja Vu Hard for Grey Fox Costume
- Need to beat Jamuis Vu for Raiden Costume
- Need to beat Jamuis Vu Hard for Raiden White Costume

Nice OT. Won't have my copy from Amazon until Tuesday night, but I'm hyped.

And then the first weekend post-release will be 3 days thanks to Labor Day!

If it's like Peace Walker, the main missions would get significantly harder if you don't do the side ops to unlock more powerful weapons/tools/skins. & in Peace Walker you need to do all the side ops to unlock the final main mission.

No multiple saves, at least that I could see.

Well, that sucks.

After downloading the TPP patch that just went live I noticed 2 things

1. Trophies now appear

2. You now get timers on things you research (thank god)

Not sure what else the patch has done

What numbers do we expect this game to do in its first week? Could it be this gen's biggest seller atm?

There's a good chance it will dethrone Arkham Knight for fastest selling game of the year. But as far as size goes I don't see it competing with GTAV, CoD or FIFA.

There's advertising all over the world, must have cost a lot to market.

We can't split numbers between PS4/XB1 and past gen, so we're unlikely to ever know.

Honestly the only point of comparison is GTA, but GTA had some serious double/triple dipping going on, not sure if it can hit those kinds of numbers. If it can overtake GTA regardless that would be mind blowing, and it potentially could from people's impressions.

So was making my way to a random side op last night, when (Spoilers For Mission 11 - Not side Op 11!)
Quiet out of nowhere! Tried to bring her down with my sniper rifle and tranquilizer, had no luck, then on miller's advice I tried to flank and get up close, but again had no luck. Just could never get close to her.

I'm in work today, so had to leave it as it was getting pretty late. Obviously going to try again when I'm back home today, and just wondering if anyone has any tricks or tips?

Don't do that. The main missions are getting very hard even before the middle of the game (at this time I have 35 hours, 31% of the game and 60% of the main missions).
A good way to do that is something like 3-4 side ops by every 1 or 2 main missions. (Maybe more side ops, your choice). In that way you build nice weapons and a better Mother Base for the next missions.
