Yeah I agree. I'd also say "cringe" as well. This seems to be a problem with a lot of western localizations. I hate how "they" try and throw in their own flair and snarkiness in translations.

It's not a dealbreaker for me, but at times it can pretty much turn a normal character into intolerable. Just stick to the originally intended script and leave the Fornite/MCU dialogue away please.

Also, glad to see the game doing well. I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

Translations shouldn't be too literal, but rewriting something from scratch, unless it demands a creative translation (for justified reasons) should be unacceptable.
I also wish the original writers were involved in the localization process, but this isn't usually the case.

It's cool if they want to take the FF7R combat and translate it into turn based, I think since it's hybrid it already lends itself to that. It can even retain some elements of the action system in that you could choose to take multiple consecutive turns on a single character (maybe like passing in SMT). Some of the more mechanically difficult stuff to execute in FF7R would really shine in turn based.

It never was going to, most casual audience wont care for this game and for people who do they already know its coming on PS5.

Thars exactly how it works and you know it. If a JP team hired me to localize their game to PT-BR and i insisted to them "put garlic bread between your buttcheeks" is a deep expression of love in the local dialect and culture, they'd believe me. After all they dont know any better and they're under the impression i'm trying to make the script work in the local language, not use it to spread bullshit.

Since you asked, yes it kinda screwed up the thread and your meta commentary to the replies sounds like a humble brag but what do I know. I'm just a guy.

On topic, however, what I will note is that I do believe Metaphor will be a success but trying to work backwards from a steam best sellers list is not the way to determine success, similar to how a console not selling out is not indicative of its sales success.
