Metroid Prime 3 info

Metroid Prime 3 itself will reportedly take "advantage of a number of new features in the Revolution, including the controller."

Nice :D

Music production hasn't yet begun, but we've already had some very exciting discussions with Kenji Yamamoto, who will return as the composer for Prime 3. We hope to take the music into some new directions for this title, and there's no doubt Mr. Yamamoto is going to relish the challenge."

Good, Yamamoto rocks.

I hope retro makes something else after prime 3

who interviewed them?? next time, bring a gun and make them spill out the details of the revolution

Metroid Prime 3 will continue the first-person action adventure the series has become known for, and there are no plans to add a third-person viewpoint outside of the morph ball.

*sigh*

I hope the soundtrack is more on par with Prime 1 rather than 2. Along with my disappointment in the dark world, I was also disappointed in the soundtrack. It was GOOD, but not great and none of the songs REALLY grabbed me (some nice remixes, though).

Metroid Prime 2 rocked. Weaksauce gamers can't handle the challenge. Bitches.
Ha ha ha, yeah, that's right.

Prime 2 did rock, but the dark world was incredibly unappealing. The environment and atmosphere was so important to the original game (and even the sequel), but I could not get into the dark world. That was a huge weak point in the game and I wish they had avoided that direction.

Yeah the soundtrack of the second game was not as good as the first one, but thats because they had to do something diferent i suppose.

According to the interview Metroid Prime 3 will be the end of the Prime trilogy. My guess is that after Prime 3, Retro will either do something original, or make a new Metroid that will actually take place after Metroid Fusion in the storyline.

Challenge :lol

Hell, it had less challenge because while you're fighting the enemy your health is constantly replenishing in those safe zones. It just didn't enjoy it.

The Prime series will end with a triology:

The interview hints that Metroid Prime 3 will end a trilogy of sorts, as the the third game's storyline will center on closure "told against the backdrop of an epic struggle," suggesting Samus will not be the only one battling the dangerous Metroid threat this time around

I was actually hoping that MP3 might have a third person view as well as the first person view and the player will have the choiuce of playing in either, but it doesnt sound like that will happen.

I found the light world environments to be pretty boring throughout most of the game. So going into the dark world made things a little more interesting.

Why didnt you like the dark world?

Hey are you Portuguese???:P

The darkworld was very unappealing and downright boring.

It wasn't really the Lightword or the Darkworld specifically that sucked it's just that Metroid Prime's Tallon IV was just so much more memorable.

The whole game (MP2: Echoes) is drop dead gorgeous. Technically its more impressive than Metroid Prime in every way, and it sucks that a lot of people probably haven't given the game a chance.

But I gotta admit -- there was nothing in the second game that could match the masterstroke genius employed in Phendrena Drifts, Magmoor Caverns, Chozo Ruins etc. It was an odd sort of variety, with the staple Fire Vs Ice areas so typical of Nintendo adventures, but the areas seemed as one whole world. It didn't seem jarring at all moving from one area to the next. Moving onto the sequel -- you really knew the Dark World was there the whole time in Echoes. You knew that although it would have a sweet level of detail, it would be black and purple and sap your energy like a bitch.

I hope the third game has more encounters with humanoids. Whether that be characters like SA-X / Dark Samus / etc or the Federation Space Marines taking on Metroids and Space Pirates -- I'd like to see more of it. There should be a section of the game where that is the sole perk. You could still have those lonely explorative elements before and/or afterwards, and it would help drive the Metroid Prime story to a thrilling conclusion.

Also, when I think dark world all I ever remember is a big purple and red haze. I don't remember locations or how levels were laid out. Something about how it's presented makes it hard to picture. Plus those Mud-Ing characters were fucking annoying to have to face over and over.

I am not so sure about that. While Prime 1 is the better game, Prime 2 had better bossfights imo. Quadraxis was downright awesome. Despite not liking the darkworld, I had a good time with the game, and I think the music was as good as Prime1.

I'm so frickin' hyped for Prime 3 it makes me all giddy just thinking about it. Metroid Prime with better graphics, physics, and AI is just heaven for a gamer like me.

I just hope they don't immediately ruin it and call it Prim3.

Nothing could be dumber than Prim3.

Prim3 would suck.

No to Prim3.

No Prim3.

Urg.

I realize that it's been done in every Metroid game, but do you think there's any chance of Samus not losing all of her equipment at the beginning of the game? I love Metroid games but I HATE loseing everything for some stupid reason. Heck, I'd prefer her starting out without anything then losing them.

On a semi-related note, check out this Newgrounds flash video you can watch all of it if you want, but I suggest you pick "scene select" and click on "27. Metroid Crime". :lol :lol :lol

How so? The engine didn't really seem upgraded too much beyond the original.

Think about how the games are designed. That would be akin to playing a Zelda game where Link is fully loaded right out of the gate. Those upgrades are a major piece of the game design.

I like Prime 2 more than the original Prime. I like some of the music better too, especially the remixed Super Metroid tunes that they put in there. Aside from the Light/Dark World aspect, its gameplay felt more like Super Metroid to me and I like that a lot. Screw attack, colored doors... I'm a sucker for them all. It also featured more challenging enemy encounters and I thought the item placement and finding these items were much more challenging and better placed that the original Prime.

I also preferred Tallon to the light and dark world. Although the light world wasnt bad, the dark world was just a mixture of dark colours just repeated again and again and again. Tallon had so much more variety in environments and it helped you enjoy the game a lot more, especially with backtracking, having a nice envionment to look and move in helped. As for MP2, the environment just seemed to look the same.

MP is my favourite Gamecube game this generation, I loved/love that game...

I didn't even bother to finish Echoes, when they sent me on that last fetch quest... kthanxbye

I think he just means that Samus shouldn't start out fully loaded and then lose her upgrades through some freak accident. I would also prefer it if Samus just started out with nothing. The rest of the game can play out like a normal Metroid game.

Favorite new enemy in Prime 2 were those robot sphere floaty things that would make your entire systems fuck up and you had to "reboot" yourself, that was pretty funny :lol

And although I like the boss fights in Prime 2, all the bosses are in the darkworld (haven't gotten to Quadraxis yet) and they all have that same muddy plus purplish mix colouring that just makes them ugly. (shrugs) I love Metroid, I own and love literally every Metroid that exists (except for the Hunters demo), why oh why can't I play this one for more than an hour before getting tired?

um, prime had a fetchquest and I'm pretty sure prime 3 will have one too

anyway, Tallon > Aether, however, I think the gameplay is better on prime 2, it's much more challenging (hard mode is actually hard, OMG) and the Boss battles were much better. And the dark world is actually much easier than the light world, every dark enemy can be instantly killed by shooting a light beam at a light crystal/beacon or even better, the anihilator beam

That's exactly what I felt about MP2 but couldn't quite place my finger on it.

Ha ha
An all-new interview with the team comes from from Luminoth Temple, an exclusive, Nintendo-sponsored information hub for Metroid fanatics, full of vague details about Metroid Prime 3. Thanks to Demi over at the Gaming Age Forums for confirming this.

Meager information aside there is re-confirmation that the controller will be interesting.

Prime 1 is my favorite game of this generation.
Prime 2 I couldn't even finish cuz it was so unappealing.

Hoping Prime 3 will capture some of that magic back.

MP needs what the Zelda franchise needs; new challenges, new items, new enemies. That's one of the reasons why I was thrilled by MP because there were some familiar standby's but a lot of new stuff plus it was the first time in 3D for the franchise too. I remember thinking a lot more during MP2 "when the hell do I get my boost/bombs/missiles/etc. back?" as opposed to "wow! That's a cool new thing" like I did playing the original MP.

When I see a challenge I shouldn't be thinking "well I need xx back in my inventory to do it;" I wanna be saying "WTF is that? How the hell do I do that?"

I never felt I was on a fetch quest in MP, even when you needed to get all the artifacts. It was your new abilities that got you places, not stupid keys.

In Echoes, it felt like a constant fetch quest
Get 3 keys, now get 3 more, ... 3 more... NOW GET 9 KEYS!!
It felt like a huge step down in level design from MP. The enviroments are for the most sake brow and dull too. Don't even get me started on the dark world.

Um, All imo of course

Naturally Prime 1 is more memorable than its sequel. Even discounting all the drama surrounding the original which had it doomed to failure thanks to all the fatbabies gossip and early prototypes, the level design and structure was still superior to the sequel.

Of course, when they decided on the light/dark world structure, they sort of gave themselves a more challenging undertaking to make the game structure work, and in some ways it did, and in others, it didn't. Like many have said, the Dark World just felt too barren and uninteresting compared to the light world.

Also, it was tough to come up with environments that didn't seem too overused in the Metroid universe, and they succeeded with Sanctuary Fortress, but the others felt more underdeveloped.

I could go on and on, but in the end, Prime 1 is the more memorable game, and I would assume that Retro has taken into account what has worked and what has not in the design and development of Prime 3.

One thing I would like to see is more less-obvious "fetch quests" since I know they are a staple of the series. But I would have enjoyed it if there were more obstacles to overcome to get the "keys" in both games, rather than just "there they are, find a way to get to them".

I hope they introduce a narrative and voice acting. Even if it is just a computer voice going over the text.

Hell, Super Metroid had that and that's one of the most memorable things for me in that game.

"The last Metroid is in captivity, the galaxy is at piece"

***starts playing that bad ass Samus theme from Super Metroid****

ARGGHHHHHH... Super Metroid is still the greatest fucking game ever.!!!!!!!!

METROID PRIME 2 WASNT HARD
JUST BLAND COMPARED TO THE FIRST

The only area in the game that impressed and immersed as much as the first was the Sanctuary Fortress.
