Metroid Prime Hunters Is The DS Killer App

This game is just a ton of fun and really even overshadowed Mario 64 DS for me.

I got a really cool sensation playing this, it just feels really unique.

When you get the thumb strap down (make sure it's nice and snug around your thumb), in some ways I think thumb strap aiming may be superior to even using a mouse.

The only thing I'd like to see NST fix is for a way for you to spin Samus faster around without having to lift your thumb off the touchscreen.

I'm not even a huge Metroid Prime fan (haven't even played Prime 2: Echoes yet), but Metroid Prime Hunters seems like a really solid game.

Its interesting they left the original control scheme in there too.

Buy UT2004 instead of this crippled Metroid game which is going to taint the name of this treasured series.

weakest troll ever? possibly.

The full version might be, but not the crippled demo. Using the touchscreen control felt very natural, but the gameplay itself was about as deep as Doom.

Yeah, it's a lot of fun and actually more comfortable to control than Mario (my hand cramps while moving the character around in Mario), and it runs very smoothly.

Too bad the final won't be out until May :(

Not a troll.

Do you even know what Metroid Prime Hunters TOURNAMENT (name in Japan) is about? It's our worst fears when Metroid Prime was announced in first person fully realized.

I'm just doing a friendly service to try and help out the disillusioned who think MP:H will be a decent game.

This is gonna stirr up conversations for 5 years.

Seriously, Metroid Prime : Hunters demo is a dumbed down FPS with a control interface that is worse than mouse/keyboard and dual analog sticks.

If you use your thumb on the second screen, you don't see it at all, which render the map useless. The second screen could have been an analog stick and control would have been 2X better. Just imagine sniping a moving target with this control and you will understand that the lack of tension and the slipping surface makes the controls annoying.

There's no killer app for DS, the system is cool, but there's nothing cool, on the software side, at the moment, please let the fanboyism aside.

Well, I thought Hunters was quite a fun game from my play time with it. I'm glad they have morph ball challenges in it, which I expected in Echoes. I hope the full Hunters game has morph ball races.

Your opinion = Fact?

Ok.

The Hunters demo is the best showcase for the system so far (until Animal Crossing, Advance Wars come out).

However, the falling Mario mini-game in Mario 64 is pretty good as it shows how both screens can act as one large screen. It did make me notice that the touch screen is generally darker than the top one though.

UT on DS!!!! Mrbob trolls it! :lol

So so sad.

Yeah I just played the Mario trampoline mini-game ... man that is really something cool that does use the touchscreen very well.

What I like about that mini-game is the control of it becomes really frantic after a while and you can use the stylus to react so quickly that it raises the fun factor. I'd like to a see a full blown game like that.

This is a bit off topic but i need help in MP2 ECHOES. Im at the Torvuss temple and i can't beat the bosses second form help.

Nope, but for this, my opinion is pretty dead on. I said you can't see the map while using your thumb on the second screen, and unless you got some sort of cloaking device, it is true. So, basing opinion on this fact, you already see that the second screen is absolutely worthless on that title. It could have been an analog stick, and the tension and capacity to re-center would have made a more accurate aiming experience. Also, you don't have to move your thumb off an analog stick to make a 180 turn.

I'm all for the innovation the DS brings, but if the innovation means that I'll be playing the same types of games I'm already playing, like FPS, with shittier controls than on a console, Nintendo can keep their innovations for themselves IMO. Now, if they bring out a good RTS, that will be another story.

NOA, NCL, NST whoever is in charge...PLEASE CHANGE THE NAME, DO NOT DO THIS TO METROID. PLEASE.

Make this a spinoff with the space marines or something.

They do need to figure a way to let you make Samus spin 180 without having to take your thumb off the touchscreen, but actually I felt even more comfortable using the thumb strap than even a mouse.

This is all part of Nintendos fear of a brand new series not selling so they drag a license into the mix and drag it down in the process.

These Ntards do not even LIKE Metroid, they act like they do, but they don't. They only support the 'if Nintendo says it is good, then i like it' mantra. Do not ruin it.

This is true.

I'm wasting my time trying to talk to blind Nintendo loyalists.

Finally you come to understand none of them give a shit about your glass half empty whining. You can go away now.

Let them get on with thinking whatever they want to think. Not like you need to care. Actually its kinda disturbing that you do.

:lol

And on the same token, it is a bit disturbing that you care enough to post about what I might say to Nintendo fans. :lol

After seeing some of the posts in this thread, I decided to start another session of MP:H. Using the default control with the stylus, people who complains about the controls need to focus on their right side of the brain a little more. Passed the demo thrice, died once in the last 2 sessions.

The only thing NST needs to put badly in the final version is the sensitivity of the touch screen and of course, a much more sophisticated single experience.

Given Pikmin's success, or lack thereof, it's no doubt Nintendo is reluctant on new IP.

On topic, I haven't played Metroid multiplayer, So I can't form an opinion. It would be like commentating on Quake 3 or UT before playing the Multiplayer. Controls nice, though.

There wont be a Metroid SP game. You ever play UT? Remember the SP in that game? That is all you are getting here.

Yup.

So sad that others haven't realized this yet. My original comment is spot on and the ntards will realize how foolish they are come March.

Default control scheme is annoying, I much prefer tapping the screen to shoot, though I fear that the screen will suffer some damage with all the tapping.

I'm a bit miffed about the direction the game appears to be heading in, though. Maybe they'll make it work.

And no, Mario 64 is the killer app.

Have you even played the game or are you just posting in the thread to be a total jackass?

You can make a point without making yourself look like a 7th grader in the process, btw, even if you don't agree with someone elses opinion.

Try it some time.

I never felt like emailing Nintendo before, but this is going to far. Let those Digipen industry rejects work on Pokemon puzzle challange for NDS or something.

Hello? You ever play a Metroid game? One that is NOT on Gamecube? Might want to turn off the N-Chip on your brain, you might see where we are coming from.

Alright. Mods, close this thread, clearly there are some people here who can't discuss a game for its own merits.

And yes, I have played Metroid and Super Metroid. Very good games, but some people need to get over the fact that these are different types of games set in the Metroid universe.

That issue is 5 years forgone.

THIS TOPIC IS NOT ABOUT METROID PRIME ON THE GAMECUBE OR NINTENDO'S DECISION TO TRY THE SERIES OUT IN 3D VIA A FIRST PERSON PERSPECTIVE.

If you want to talk about that please take a DeLorean back to 2000.

This is a topic about Metroid Prime Hunters for the Nintendo DS.

You must work for EA.

Please, from a Metroid fan, never say anything about the direction Metroid should take EVER.

I praised the controls and the engine, I would Nintendo would make this into a new IP. Hell, I wish Nintendo would licence the engine out to other developers. There is not point using the Metroid name, Metroid is not one of Nintendo better selling franchises.

Thank you for completely missing the point. For the last time, turn the N-chip OFF.

No, some of us are talking about that game.

Hellrizah had critical comments about the game, and that's fine.

But some here are simply trolling and from the sounds of it haven't even played the game.

What part of this.game.is.not.worthy.of.the.name.metroid. are you having problems with?

Metroid is one of the last franchises Nintendo has that they have not fucked up yet. It is wrong to have some sort of standards?
