Ok, so i really want both but can only get one right now for a new PS4 game.

Im looking for a good adventure game i can jump in and jump out of and have side quests, and other things to dig into also.

Which would you all recommend? Both seem to have great reviews...

Help me Obi GAF Kenobi...youre my only hope!!!

EDIT-- Going with Witcher 3, but definitely going to get MGS5 too once i have more money ready since you guys all mostly give it high praise too! Thanks again!!

Play as big boss or some nerd with a ponytail? Choice is already made

I couldn't even finish witcher 3 but I can recommend mgsv

MGS 5 side missions can be pretty fun. The nature of the game allows you to jump in and out of missions at your whim so if you want to do few you can. And the gameplay is designed to allow you to tackle those missions however you want.

It plays far better as ell. Just know it's not really open world it's more like a sand box.

Personally I'm enjoying MGSV a lot more. Some of the Witcher 3 conversations bore me to tears. I just want to slice people up with a sword!!! Don't get me wrong I like a good story and characters but Geralts voice is sometimes too fricking annoying.

If you want a richer narrative experience and a world to immerse yourself in: The Witcher 3

If you want amazing gameplay: MGSV

I prefer MGSV of the two by a good margin, but you can't go wrong with either. MGSV is better for jumping in quickly due to its mission structure and its less dialogue/story driven so you can accomplish a lot more in a short amount of time.

I've found that Metal Gear Solid has held my attention better and I've enjoyed it more, but The Witcher 3 is still a good game and much more accessible if you've not played others in the series as opposed to MGS.

I'd go for MGS if you've played others in the series, but The Witcher is still pretty amazing. It's hard to go wrong.

I think TW3 fits your description of what you are looking for a bit better.

But on PS4 MGSV is probably the smoother experience technically.

Flip a coin.

Damn, what a tough question as both ganes are one of my all time fav series. I'd say go with MGSV if you know anything about MGS. If not, go with Witcher 3.

MGS V has really good stealth gameplay but The Witcher 3 does everything else (open world, writing, story, side-activities) much better.

So The Witcher 3 is an easy choice for me.

Both are amazing. Though i my opinion Witcher 3 is just really the better game overall. The sidequests are amazing and the world has just so many details and things to find.
I'd recomend W3, but definitely get MGSV right afterwards.

The Witcher 3 probably has a better story and dialogue than MGSV if that's important to you. I haven't played it, but I have played MGSV and can say the story presentation and dialogue in that is not exactly good.

The Witcher 3 because it's an open world game that actually does open world right, and doesn't have a godawful story. I've finished both The Witcher 3 and MGS V, by the way.

Can we do without this obvert hyperbole meant to drive how much you're a fanboy of your favorite game?

My favourite game? MGS: Snake Eater. My favourite franchise MGS. MGSV is a bad game and when the honeymoon period is over, you'll see more people saying this.

I am literally fuming at what Kojima has done to the MGS franchise. It's worse than SE with FF.

hmm

Got MGSV on x1 and it's my first MGS game and I love it!

But witcher 3 is also a very very good game. I loved it from beginning to end.

Can't decide which Is better :/

So far, MGSV is slow and a little monotonous. I can see the level of detail that's gone into the game but Witcher had all of the detail and it was paced incredibly well. Go Witcher

Witcher 3. Especially if you know the books and the other games. Witcher 3 has so many amazing little things, such beautiful graphics, incredible tracks and an actually good combat system for its scale.

I really like MGS, especially 2, but they're some of the most overhyped games on this planet.

The Witcher 3 and it's not even close.

MGS is my favourite series ever, I've been playing them since the beginning, but I had nothing to complain about when it came to The Witcher 3. It has a better open world, with much more life and a lot of variety in the environments. MGSV feels empty in comparison and there's not a lot of variety. The Witcher 3 has a satisfying story with unique handcrafted side quests that all have their own stories. MGSV has repetitive side quests which mostly feel like padding and unfortunately it suffers from cut content which leads to a very unsatisfying conclusion. MGSV also has the worst story of the all the MGS games imo, maybe Peace Walker is slightly worse, I don't know.

With that all said the actual gameplay of MGSV is really good and the game runs really well on the PS4.

ed: I think The Witcher 3 has ruined open world games for me, it's almost too good.

Sorry Kojima.

They're both really good. Had you asked me a few days ago I'd say MGS5, now I'm not so sure. MGS5 has much better gameplay, but it does get a bit tedious after a long time of playing. The Witcher 3 has worse gameplay (not terrible though), and it also gets tedious after awhile, but it has a rather good story to make up for that. Something MGS5 definitely lacks. I'm not quite finished with MGS5 so we'll see if it picks back up.

But really, you're fine either way.

Honestly. Toss a coin. Im playing mgs5 after coming off witcher 3 and both offers excellent gameplay. Like seriously can't go wrong with either of them

Personally I'd go for MGSV. It's just so much more interesting than the Witcher even with (or maybe due to?) its silliness. I can play it for longer without feeling much fatigue, but also feel like progress is actually being made when I only have a smaller window to game in.

MGS V gameplay and technical aspects (graphics and optimization) is way beyond witcher 3. But the world and story is better on witcher 3 IMO. For me gameplay>Everything else in games. So MGS V for me.

Either way you win OP, both are great games. Have not beat MGSV yet but i like it just as much as Witcher 3 so far.

Having said that, you did say "adventure" which i feel is captured more in Witcher 3. But you also said "drop in and out" which definitely falls into MGSV territory.

Okay. Do you want to play with a sword or gun? Simple as that really!
