They just want to put the CAT and the CMA under pressure by manipulating public opinion.
this worked so well that CMA dropped the consoles

"At the Remedies Hearing the CMA asked Microsoft if the 10-year duration is sufficient and whether there would be a 'cliff edge' for Sony at the end of this period. The 10- year period is [redacted]," wrote Microsoft. "Microsoft considers that a period of 10 years is sufficient for Sony, as a leading publisher and console platform, to develop alternatives to CoD.

They should get started!

I want the deal to go through but its not looking great. My hopes will rise again if every regulator approves except FTC and CMA. FTC will probably lose in court(that is what analysts on CNBC have been saying) so that leaves just the CMA. If we reach that point the irrationality argument carries more weight with CAT if the CMA is isolated. But so many things have to go right for MS and even if MS wins the appeal with CAT then it goes back to the CMA lol.

Amazing the outright dick-headed hubris that is in that MS statement.

They’re approaching a 10 year cycle for some of their games as is, Playground were recruiting for Fable in 2017, 6 years ago.

CMA doesn't care what happens elsewhere, their job is to protect UK Consumers.

They've blocked deals otherwise accepted by EU in the past:

https://www.gibsondunn.com/cma-stops-the-show-cargotec-deal-abandoned-as-uk-blocks-after-eu-clearance/#:~:text=The UK's competition watchdog has,it considered the deal problematic.

CMA has never, ever changed a decision on a Merger, even with JD Sports, they LOST TWICE at CAT & JD Sports was still forced to sell Foot asylum.

Microsoft can waste years fighting this, in the end Sony was making insane strides while Xbox was distracted, they threw the whole generation away... Again.

Also another question is does Activision want to keep fighting for this? Remember the longer they fight this the more opportunities they will lose with strong competitors like Sony.

Interesting, EC approval with remedies seems likely based on this article and the CMA will likely not give a crap.

And as stated multiple times. Its not an appeal per see as you cant appeal the CMA. All you can do is summit a request for the CAT to review the process that lead to the ruling, and even if the CAT find said process lacking all they can do is order the CMA to make a new ruling in the case which could just as easily be the same. And as stated the CAT themselves can take years to make a ruling as their job is to analyse literally every piece of the process.
