If MS doesn't close by the 18th then MS or ABK can walk away. To extent they need Bobby's approval. If ABK asks for more money then they will need shareholders vote again.
So it all comes down to CMA. And I get the feeling that they are on the fence (just an instinctive feeling).

You seem to forget that we are consumers and gamers, as such we care about having access to more games and not less. So despite you trying to make it irrelevant, it is very relevant that Xbox is trying to destroy the gaming platform just because they are so bad at it and couldn't win. Yes, they want to make money, but what is in it for ME?

I have a feeling the CMA won't feel pressured into closing.

Why would they? Microsoft had plenty of time to deal after the initial report laid out their concerns and what they offered was totally inadequate so it got blocked

If MS has a divestiture to restructure the deal, it seems completely implausible to me that they'll approve it by next week

CMA arent gods. They can change their mind depending on the deal offer.
Their main issue has always been cloud. If MS gives up cloud rights, that means CMA would be ok with this approach, because MS wont be in a strong position with this deal in the cloud sector.

Remember that CMA doesnt consider about console sector. Its only cloud concern that they blocked this deal.

That sounds like a red herring offer to me. It does nothing but add a middleman.

It depends on what both parties agree to.
CMA is only responsible for their country. This means that they can negotiate closing down the deal on other countries.

CMA wouldnt have given up the appeal case, if the deal was not good for them. They pretty much had a huge advantage with that cat case. Even this thread was pointing that out, especially Heisenberg007 Heisenberg007

CMA has a global ban in place. They could lift it by the 18th, but as far as we know, that hasn't happened yet. If MS wants to close this weekend then they'll have to lift the ban tomorrow.

I don't find it surprising that we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. If it really does have anything to do with CoD, my guess would be reaching a agreement with another publisher for publishing rights in the UK. Alas, I imagine it's most likely something none of us are even talking about. Everyone in here has been shooting in the dark, and then scrambling to catch up as new information comes out.

A restructured deal means an entirely new deal that has to go through the CMA's regulatory process all over again, the current deal that was announced in 2022 will remain blocked.

I guess to dumb it down everything else could be copy and pasted except for the cloud part which would have to be amended with whatever they agree upon?

That is the issue for us.
Something must have happened behind the closed scene for both parties to sit down on the table.
You dont get too much coincidence with this deal.

There is a reason why the ftc decided to request tro, even though the cma block makes it hard for MS to close it down before the deadline. Something is brewing behind the scene.

It's possible, but the CMA put out a statement yesterday saying their final report remained unchanged. We'll find out tomorrow though if the global ban has been lifted, then MS is 100% closing.
