That's just scummy politicians working for their own shitty agendas. I'm not denying that. It's fuck all to do with the Civil Service though 💀

CMA are Civil Servants, not politicians.

Shareholders makes a vote, not decision.
Top brass and their lawyers do the decision. If shareholders agree to it, the negotiation becomes effective.

@GHG is expert in this field.
It will be up to Bobby to extent or walk away if CMA still is blocking or haven't made a decision by July 18th. So there is no need for shareholders vote if Bobby wants to extent.
THis was already discussed here while back.
MS and ABK are in a bind until July 18th. If CMA still is blocking either party can walk away or Bobby can extend. It is up to him.

No it doesnt. Today the CMA announced they extended the date for the final order by the latest august 29th, and they are currently in discussions with Microsoft on a solution.
But unless the merger remains active, the final order is triggered AFAIK, so when the extension is needed and ATVI can't respond because they need a month to ask shareholders, the 18th of July arrives killing the SEC filling, and then the 10year order stopping an ATVI and MSFT merger will kick in.

Considering the political turmoil in your country and the recent exprience after the brexit, I wonder if those values is still being respected.

I heard that you guys have torries and labor problems like the US. Does that still has an effect with those values?

You want to quote the part of the SEC filing where it says the deal ends on the 18th?

That's a very good question. I can tell you from personal experience, the answer is no. Is it a challenge to stick to those values? I'd say yes. But from what I've seen, people just get on with the job and do what's best for the country, and that includes challenging poor decision making and pushing back when required.

And it's remarkable really, when you consider the punching bag the Civil Service has become.

I was going by the CMA appeal CMC meeting where MR Beard for Microsoft called it the "drop dead date"
It doesn't mean the deal literally drops dead, it's the point where parties can choose to walk away. In this case it is the point when instead of paying $2 billion to walk away, Activision gets paid $3 billion for walking away.

You are arguing semantics when it doesn't change the point I am making, that Kotick needs to get a better value for an extension or shareholders are being defrauded for him to get his payoff, and it might just be safer for him to decline an extension and put it all back to the shareholders to find a new buyer or enjoy the value that's returned to those shares from the company doing well,

Still several pages behind where people are celebrating like the deal has closed.

Look, I'm for this deal, but the one constant we've had throughout this thread is uncertainty and surprise twists.

The appeals court denying the FTC is a major hurdle overcome, but until Microsoft and ABK themselves say the deal has closed, I won't be celebrating. Also, even if Microsoft successfully acquires ABK, let's not be sore winners.

Very subtle :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Not sure what the current price has to do with it, games that launch on game pass day 1 are also on retail at full price.
Why would they put a game that has been selling really well on Game Pass right away? Diablo 4 still has another 8 months or so where it can sell a full price... and the Xbox players will pay the price.

Nobody is going to buy it if they know it's coming to game pass.

If the deal closes, it will be completely at the first party's discretion. They can do that in a week or in 6 months, that won't be the problem. But sale-price has nothing to do with it.

Oh, we know that. Microsoft covers Xbox's failings all the time.

But it's pretty obvious that they will have to increase the price to cover expenses. But the worst thing about this is.... a lot of people are going to lose their job and Microsoft won't care.
I hate to break it to everyone but COD isn't gonna cause Xbox to need more revenue. They are going to bring revenue and lots of it. And that's why it will NEVER be exclusive.

Well, don't go crying for all of them. The IRS, for example, has promised and failed to do anything about its ridiculously shitty computer system for the past 40 (some would say 60) years. The IRS can't even be bothered to answer the phone, and prefers to target vulnerable low income families instead of millionaires.

Sure, you can blame Congress for some budget cuts over the years, but that's all agencies in D.C. do: whine over their operating budget.

Speaking of which, the operating budget for the IRS has ranged from around 13-14 billion dollars a year since 2013, and if you can't use that to find some fake-ass tax returns from millionaire scumbags, then you utterly suck as an organization and you need to be revamped entirely.

I'd expect that anyone who really wanted D4 would have bought it already by this point. The benefit of Gamepass is that it can bring in gamers who would't normally play Diablo games. Just my thoughts though.

I'm not bitter at all, I'm just a life long gamer that won't willing support the detriment of my preferred hobby., but you are welcome to support the demise by consolidation if that's how you like your gaming.
I have always loved the Idea of Sony buying Square Enix. or Capcom. I love exclusives. It's what makes me go and buy a specific console. to play those games.

I know MS management is horrible, but they have been dead last for more than 22 years lol. maybe this will help them put up a fight.

I couldn't possibly comment on US government staff. My views are only on UK Civil Servants.

Not to say I'd 100% defend the UK Civil Service, it does indeed have its issues but usually relating to funding and demoralisation via the behaviour of some politicians and erosion of pay and conditions (I won't go down that rabbit hole). But the issues are not to the extent that justifies repeatedly being labelled as lazy pen pushers though (never read Daily Mail if you're a civil servant and DEFINITELY don't read the comments section!).

I swear to god some of you are acting like consolidation is new even in this industry. You'd rather these companies nibble at inevitability, even cheer for it when it's your plastic box of choice, but get all emotional as if the world of gaming ends with this acquisition.

Yeah, that's a fair take. I know everyone gripes about government...even when it's not warranted. It can be a target for the intellectually lazy.

I wonder how Xbox peeps will feel If Sony does a purchase like take2.
That is how bad these consolidation are.

I think it's kind of funny that everyone thinks Apple Google and Amazon are going to swoop in and buy up the rest of the publishers just because Microsoft got a big one. Like we all expect this to be some demon's souls game where Microsoft leaves behind summon marks to help Amazon slay the mighty FTC and CMA.
