There might be one at Surface Pro Artist's blog about a press release but most of the info came from Wacom's own PPT image from gen 13 pen briefing a while back.

There will be a Wacom made USI pen with 4K pressure and tilt. Should be backwards compatible with many of the existing projected capacitive touch panels that falls in line with USI specs for touch panels. I can't see N-Trig Duo Sense 2 panels (in SP3, SP4, SB) not being part of that.

I'm sorry, I meant USI. I don't really know much about the technology behind how their pens work, but will this effectively let us bypass the problems with ntrig that were on the surface pro 3&4, by using a wacom pen?

How is this priced compared to professional monitors you draw on? The ones artists use seem very very expensive.

I just wish the specs were better for the price. An 8 gig sku is embarrassing. Also would love to hear more about the durability of the screen.

a little bit more expensive than a cintiq... however this is a full computer, not just a monitor

so value is a bit better here

i wish i had $3000 to spend on this :(

It's simply a multi frequency pen made by Wacom with Wacom parts that will be compatible with any touch board that falls within USI's specification. it will let you have 1 gram of initial activation force on your Surface device, which is something I think would be the biggest difference from N-Trig pen. It WON'T get rid of slow line jitter, because that's the physical limitation of the touch board the pen is working on top of.

Think of it like this. With these pro cap touch screen devices, the pen and the touch board are were never married. They were simply in a relationship. And with USI, they are no longer even doing that. Now they will be able to switch up partners all willy nilly as long as they pair up within USI spec. USI will be like a giant pen and touch screen swingers' party.

Does anyone know if the highest configuration is good enough for VR and gaming? I dont know anything about PC specs.

At a distance the screen is beautiful but when you are on top of it drawing, it’s absolutely stunning. Tycho asked me to compare it to my Cintiq, and I told him that drawing on the Cintiq now felt like drawing on a piece of dirty plexiglass hovering over a CRT monitor from 1997

he says he's not paid but who knows. It sounds like he puts a lot of time into testing their products and it would be weird if he wasn't paid.

The Surface Dial thingy has free shipping and free returns... maybe I'll try it out with my SP4.

Nah. He's been a fan of the Surface for a while now and MS invited him to play with Surface 2 and beyond. They really value his input.

If the Surface Dial had general Win10 support I'd probably think about getting one, especially if MS is committed to software using it. That precision wrist-centric control is something we've needed more of.

Like many of us, he wants his dream device for drawing with so he's keen to give MS feedback as he's said he feels like they take his feedback seriously and genuinely try to improve the products for artists.

He's pointed out things he hasn't liked with other Surface products which he linked to at the bottom of the post. So I don't think he's just shilling.

Depending on how much you can customize the functions I'll probably pick one up for use with my SP4. The biggest downside to using an SP4 for drawing is not having a good solution for hotkeys.

I believe on their website it says all windows 10 computers with the anniversary update will be able to use it. Only the Surface Studio can do the screen magic though

I wonder if Microsoft will release this sans computer. It's a beautiful piece of hardware but if I'm going full PC, I would rather stick it to a tower.
