If demand would be actually that high, no sale reduction would be necessary, any company in its right mind would allocate more units to France instead of getting rid of units in America. Still, outside of USA things have been different and demand of xbox didn't skyrocket in 2021 holiday.

You could literally walk into a store and buy series x on last december, I did that and they were available till end of january, sold out for some time and now have basically been available since that.

Series S have been available since the launch, and demand is so low that used units barely sell for 100-150€ now.

So you both are right, depending of the country.

PS5 have been available only on small batches now, but still available on bundles for few days here and there. So supply is getting better at high demand areas where playstation dominates. On some stores here, there is literally 1 (one) game for xbox for sale, and rest are 80% playstation, 20% switch games on the shelf.

There’s definitely a lot of Series S pushing these days. In all fairness I could’ve done the same with Ragnarok threads, though.

I think GAF is largely split between PlayStation/Xbox players. Nintendo and PC fans are the minority.

The console was already at a fair price for the consumer, as evidenced by the loss incurred on each unit, as well as the sales performance of their rival (PS5). At just 2 years into a Covid-stunted generation, if you're resorting to lowering the price of the machine, you have a serious problem. Games/services are supposed to be the consumer's primary motivation at such an early stage of the game, no pun intended.

Over the years interacting with these people I have learnt that apparently unless you spend a lot of time conspiring about evil Microsoft satisfying the endless thirst of these warriors, you must be a paid shill. These people seem to have way too much free time, going to every single Xbox thread and all day replying to everyone making sure everyone who owns a Xbox feels bad about their choices. Once someone gives in and leaves the thread, they move on to the next target. Its almost as if they are not doing this at their free time, but this is a real job.
This is just a thread about a 20% holiday discount, but some people seem way to invested into convincing everyone this is somehow very bad for Xbox as a platform, and making sure the messaging is conveyed the way they want it to. If that is not PR, I don't know what else is.
