A 100$ discount on a machine that supposedly has more demand than supply?
MS can't compete in this market unless they bled money.
Xbox is not profitable.
In any case, for now this is good for consumers.

Yeah this is a ploy for holiday unit sales to stay as competitive as possible with PS5. When I saw them do this with Series S, I said it was a smart move. But to do it with the Series X??? Let's call a spade a spade - It's pathetic and embarrassing. All these damn talented studios and you don't have the management capacity to ship respectable number of games during the year.
Any evidence of that in recent years?MS can't compete in this market unless they bled money.

Tell that to the french MS dude saying something about "we will not have enough consoles for xmas" trying to generate fake scarcity "get it before they are gone".What is with people, and these arguments?
Does everything have to be a war?
This move benifts the consumers, since it saves them money. I am sorry, that people like you guys have to make it childish war.

If demand would be actually that high, no sale reduction would be necessary, any company in its right mind would allocate more units to France instead of getting rid of units in America. Sony isn't reducing their increased price, just bacause Black Friday and trying to be nice, because they actually have high(er) demand. MS supply seems to be exactly what is being demanded for months now.
Of course it's nice that some customers will save money, but the "warring" is based on BS PR on MS's side.
Do you know how much userbase are in US?Tell that to the french MS dude saying something about "we will not have enough consoles for xmas" trying to generate fake scarcity "get it before they are gone".

Absolutely incorrect.Stop looking for excuses to justify console warring. Series X is still supply constrained and will be sold out over the holidays.
There’s no holiday price promotion for Series X.
Helps to read the OP before jumping in
Ok Mr expert.Absolutely incorrect.
Series X is consistently in stock on Amazon for months. The constraint is totally gone for this console as far as I can see. You can get one if you want it at any point. Stop lying to yourself

And yet, right now, it’s only available on Amazon US by invitation, where it’s marked as a ‘High Demand Product with limited supply’. Sold out on Best Buy, where it’s marked as a ‘High Demand Product’. Sold out on GameStop.
You get the picture.
Not to mention the demand for consoles skyrockets in the holiday shopping periods, so availability data in the past few months is no indicator for holiday availability.
Imagine having to explain to someone on an enthusiast game forum that demand spikes during holidays
Only on GAF will you find some users complaining about a discount coupon as a negative.
It’s one way to separate the corporate shills from regular people.
why does Ezekiel find this funny.
Maybe he meant that it have been consistently available and maybe black friday week have sold them out for now? (at US)
Still, outside of USA things have been different and demand of xbox didn't skyrocket in 2021 holiday.
You could literally walk into a store and buy series x on last december, I did that and they were available till end of january, sold out for some time and now have basically been available since that.
Series S have been available since the launch, and demand is so low that used units barely sell for 100-150€ now.
So you both are right, depending of the country.
PS5 have been available only on small batches now, but still available on bundles for few days here and there. So supply is getting better at high demand areas where playstation dominates. On some stores here, there is literally 1 (one) game for xbox for sale, and rest are 80% playstation, 20% switch games on the shelf.
If all consoles would have high demand, they would not have to sell them on sale, right?
Unless they want to sell even more, but that would mean that the demand isnt that high if they can sell even more by lowering the price.
they should drop series x to 399€ from 500+ euros, that would be better move as it could help sell them on lower demand areas.
The target seems to be kids this holiday.
They want that Thanksgiving and Christmas tree for xss.

The console was already at a fair price for the consumer, as evidenced by the loss incurred on each unit, as well as the sales performance of their rival (PS5). At just 2 years into a Covid-stunted generation, if you're resorting to lowering the price of the machine, you have a serious problem. Games/services are supposed to be the consumer's primary motivation at such an early stage of the game, no pun intended.

Same people who won’t stop talking about the business side don’t wanna talk about the business side.
Dam if only they had some games!!
Ps Xbox fans plz don’t reply saying they are coming, they are always coming soon lol, ps5 barely has any games, Xbox is like the desert.
I am already in the matrix, just like hassan. So in other words if we tie you down the problem will be solved
Constructive reply Mrs NoviceOk Mr expert.

How is that an issue then?
Maybe in the states where Xbox for some reason has a disproportionate popularity rate. Worldwide though you have ZERO issue getting one. You can buy one any day in stores right across the UK. The supply has met the demand.
Yet all these threads are filled with Sony fanboy business specialists including you trying to argue this must mean how horribly Xbox is losing with people only spending 16 billion a year on them. Very "tired of being bombarded" indeed.Well it doesn't help when this board is essentially being used as an advertising tool.

And the crazy part is that they are advertising on Neogaf, like most people here haven't already bought a console or wouldn't already know where to look for a console deal.Well it doesn't help when this board is essentially being used as an advertising tool.

If you want to market/advertise something so blatantly then be prepared for the objections and criticism. It goes with the territory.
why does Ezekiel find this funny.
Objections and criticisms .. on people being able to get a highly sought after item with a discount ?
G, you know very well where the line between criticism and shit-posting is
Here's the problem, we have catch-all discount threads. This isn't even confined to newly created threads either (if it were then you might have a point), it's happening in threads that are about completely unrelated games/platforms.

Sounds like supplies are not moving and they have to get rid of them.

Microsoft advertising is too overzealous, and it comes off as desperate and unattractive.
Complaining of being bombarded by threads you actively contribute in.
That’s new
Over the years interacting with these people I have learnt that apparently unless you spend a lot of time conspiring about evil Microsoft satisfying the endless thirst of these warriors, you must be a paid shill. These people seem to have way too much free time, going to every single Xbox thread and all day replying to everyone making sure everyone who owns a Xbox feels bad about their choices. Once someone gives in and leaves the thread, they move on to the next target. Its almost as if they are not doing this at their free time, but this is a real job.Yet all these threads are filled with Sony fanboy business specialists including you trying to argue this must mean how horribly Xbox is losing with people only spending 16 billion a year on them. The console(s)? Yes.any proof of xbox not being profitable?
There should be one big black Friday thread with a regularly updated OP.
The console(s)? Yes.
Microsoft is out there making moves to grow install base and you're upset that a video game enthusiast forum is talking about it? That's pretty weird.Well it doesn't help when this board is essentially being used as an advertising tool.
