Microsoft Stores across most of Europe no longer stocking Xbox Series consoles

https://www.microsoft.com/es-es/sto...les?icid=Cat-Xbox-QL1-Xbox-Consoles&source=lp

The regional stores across most of Europe are either completely out of stock of all models (even reconditioned units) or go to a page displaying 0 items when going to the Xbox consoles store page.

Observed with Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria.

Xbox is officially not supported in Luxembourg so that's normal https://www.xbox.com/en-US/regions

I.. I don't understand this strategy. Do all retailers have the ability to send back unsold units after a certain period as part of their contracts? Is that why this is happening and there is no way for MS to prevent it?

Why would MS prevent it? They want Series consoles to die as soon as possible at this point

Big anniversary for Xbox's 25th anniversary is coming in 2026 (GTAVI, FH6, Fable, Gears) and without Xbox consoles in stores while PS5 sells like crazy, a flawless plan.

Not a good sign. I guess this is the beginning of the end fir XBOX. I truly think the damage done to the reputation brand is beyond repair at this point and once again, I don't why they are "supposedly" trying another console next generation at this point. The multiplatform strategy definitely isn't going to help their console going forward especially when consumers expect to see their games on their desired console.

They plan to use the last 3 as a welcome gift to PlayStation fans. Look at the rich history of Xbox, now you can play anywhere!

I will bet FH6 launches simultaneously despite previous comments. No one is willing to to put money into an Xbox library with all the water flooding the below decks.

Right before a holiday season this is a big alarm bell. If they're discontinuing production without a replacement they won't be able to just let it die without an announcement.

Why? They still have 2 years for the next one. Why not at least sell whatever is left in stock?
There isn't a next one. They will keep leaking docs and keep it up that they are making a dedicated hardware for next generation until they have no road left to travel and cancel it.

A company isn't going to tell their base of folks that still give them money every month for rentals and online play, microtransactions, etc, that they are closing up shop. That would dry the well, so they will keep the bait out and get as many fish as possible to recoup what they have spent on other companies and the division itself, and in the end leaving console players with empty libraries of rented games.

Nadella already made that decision on trying to milk as much money as they can with gamepass on console.

That makes almost too much sense for it to be completely true. lol

So why won't they just announce it already that Xbox consoles are done

Why the long drawn out death. Next xbox will rebrand to Microsoft Gaming entirely

I don't get this either.

If the console has been discontinued by MS, it seems strange we haven't seen retailers trying to sell off existing stock, including games, at a discount.

Did MS either recall all of the stock that's in the wild or allow retailers to send back unsold stock?

It's a very bizarre situation overall.

Were Dreamcast units discounted and cleared out that way? I can't remember.

I vaguely remember the games being heavily discounted at Walmart. I'd still see the games year later in an endcap at the back of the video game section next to automotive parts.

I was buying everybody I knew $50 Dreamcast during the clearance sales. :messenger_grinning_squinting:

Because they know their remaining hardcore fanbase are stupid enough to hang around and be milked dry.
