Microsoft to hold Xbox & Windows 10 Media event Feb. 25th

Of course they're hesitant to put the brands that define Xbox on PC. Xbox One doesn't have the 3rd party advantage that Xbox 360 did so exclusive games are pretty much the only selling point for the console. Take those away and Xbox One is pretty much done.

I do suppose that is true, and a big bummer for a PC only gamer

I'd be very interested to hear what makes Sunset Overdrive less of a random game than those that are already announced for Windows.

"random games" was a bad phrasing, a more appropriate term would be non-AAA titles

This still doesn't really work. Gears, Halo Wars 2 and Sea of Thieves are all at least as AAA as Sunset Overdrive. Hell, despite being f2p, Fable Legends probably is too.

The divide seems completely arbitrary tbh, and seems to pretty much just amount to "those don't count" in general. I can already imagine if those two games were announced, we'd still be hearing about how it's only "2 year old ports... give us Gears 4 and FH3 if you want to show you're serious".

I expect release dates for titles slated to hit the Windows Store this year. Since the majority of their first party titles are coming to Windows 10, they might as well announce other titles that have yet to be announced for the platform.

I can't tell if these comments are jokes or not. This event for an Xbox slim? For Halo 5 on PC?

We'll be lucky if we see new gameplay for games we already know exist.

Not expecting anything big. We might get like a gameplay teaser trailer of Recore which would be cool and then maybe a big reveal at E3. Also I do believe they will release an xbox slim this year, however that could be announced on or after E3. Id say after with a Gears of War 4 bundle. It would be killer.

Can't wait to hear about how extremely committed to PC gaming they are but for some reason continue to not release any of the proper Halo games on PC, and keep many of their other big games as Xbox only.

Also anticipating them compounding this by continuing to talk about how easy it is to port Xbox games to Windows 10.

They (MS) are in a bit of conundrum as they are trying hard to push win10 as a viable gaming platform to force people to upgrade without alienating the xone playerbase.

This means pumping out games that are not aaa exclusives or system sellers and pushing for this streaming stuff/cross integration.

New Microsoft IP trademarked:

Roboraid
Fragments
Phantom Dust

One can hope we see signs of one of them, but I'm holding out for E3.

Sorry for the bump buuuuut...

Thats about what I predicted. A few indies, their own published titles, and their marketing deals.

Someone ask them where the fudge ReCore is as well

Yea, I think we'll hear some things about "going forward PC/XBO cross-buy/play on first party titles with digital preorder" or something. That way people can assume stuff coming from MS.

My half-realistic prediction:

- from now on, every Xbox exclusive is also coming to Windows 10
- Xbox One receives possibility to Stream games from a W10 PC like Steam Link
- They announce a Xbox One Mini, no possibility to play games natively, has only streaming option and runs apps like netflix. Pricepoint: $100.
- They announce a line of Xbox branded PCs that run W10 games at the recommended level. (Think GTX970 etc)
--> Giving more choices to play Xbox Games. They still commit to the dedicated console business.

Hopefully there will be some clarification about universal apps on Xbox One. You would think that after the Windows10 transition there would be an influx of different applications, but there's been hardly any new release or announcement. Sure it's been only two months, but maybe we could know when/if things are coming ?

How I see it too. Seems sensible.

Maybe microsoft are holding back the release of black ops 1 BC on xbox one for this event. showcasing it at this event would have a much better impact than releasing it on any normal day imo.

Yeah I think they finally have to do it, since the One Reveal and Win8 they told us about tons of Apps and Universal Apps, but they still haven't proven that.

The official Quantum Break activity feed says you get a "free PC copy" for pre-ordering the game on the Xbox One store.

That seems like the kind of thing that would be saved for Build, at the end of March/beginning of April, since apart from whatever private behind-the-scenes deals they've been making with specific high-profile developers (ie, if they've been working with Netflix, for example, on a new Universal App client with Xbox support to prove out the framework ahead of the public rollout), the big news would hopefully be opening up the SDK for app developers in general.

Fingers crossed for MCC and H5! Come on good guy Microsoft! I'm counting on you guys!

I think those two games would give their new store a great boost.

Yup. It would also really help improve their image after the terrible MCC release. Maybe the PC version will be better. Halo deserves better, 343 can still redeem themselves.

How are the chances of 360 backwards compatibility for windows 10? That would be huge

I guess they could do that. The BC stuff on Xbox One is basically a VM and it should be possible to make it run on W10 (unless they really optimized it to just run on a Xbox One)

I'd say basically 0%, but I would've said the same thing about BC coming to Xbone, so I could be wrong again.
It'd be very surprising to me, it would require a huge effort from the technical side.

Some stuff should stay on the console

Why would make a years old game running through BC a big impact? Black Ops is nothing to write home about

Don't think we will see that in the upcoming conference, though i thought about that either but for next gen time, Microsoft could decide to go that way instead of making another standard console, they could move everything into their Windows 10 store and release a few models of Xbox, which at that point would just be pre-build mini PC with Windows 10 made by the Surface team with Intel i5/i7 and medium/high end GPUs depending on the model you choose, of course at that point something else should also change in the actual W10 Xbox App and Gold subscription will become something else

That's a solid prediction. 👍

Any chance of them dropping the XBL gold requirement for MP? I feel like if they brought the games with gold/deals with gold subscription to PC they could probably make up the difference from lost subs if they drop the MP requirement on consoles.

Microsoft is now platform agnostic so this makes no sense

MS just does this because they are losing and have no chance, it was the same with WP they start putting everything on Android and Iphone, see if Google got their apps into WP, of course not. Plattforms need some kind of exclusivity to gain some steam, WP had neither, its the same story right now with Xbox, looks like MS cant do anything right these days, W8 and Vista was the same story...

Xbox 360 was a different story because they had the sales and share, they didnt need to put those games on Pc they didnt even bothered when everyone was begging them to give us Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 etc... And suddenely they care? haha this is MS saying "hey we have lost the console space but we still can cover that with selling games on Pc."

I think this event will not please Xbox Fans who invested 500e to play exclusives and see everything going into Pc.

As far as im concerned, i love this, it just saved me what 600 euros? i dont need to buy a Xbox anymore as the best choice right now with a Ps4 is to build a decent Pc that will run games better than Xbox and im all set so yeah thanks Microsoft :P

No Cuphead? :(

I was expecting a release date.
