This is how what I imagined what that author of the Polygon article looked like when writing it.
He made Ridiculous Fishing.
On the Giant Bombcast last night Brad hinted that he had heard that this game started out as a Batman game. Wonder if that's true?
You didn't unlock it. The game is just letting you know that keep earning money and spending points on sword and you can eventually buy that particular skill. There's one for daggers and bows as well.I thought it said I unlocked the ability to pull of multiple finishing moves in succession after I completed a sword challenge (white sword on the map). But I can't figure out how to do it and I can't find anything referencing this ability in the menu.... Anyone know how to do this?
Ah, okay! That makes sense. I'll try that and see if it's still intuitive enough for me. Thanks!
that's a damn shame. We have way too many Morality/Piety Police, and they're all as phony as a 8 dollar bill! "Oh noooo he kissed his wife the same way he kills his enemies..." Some people just look for stuff to "attempt" to show how righteous they are. It seems some folks are just looking for something to point their fingers at, and condemn. Pathetic...really, pathetic.
Games can make us feel those different emotions. Theyre that powerful. They have the tools to do that through their lighting and their animation and their context and most importantly and sneakily, through the way we actually control them. When a designer or animator gives up and decides to use the same controls and animations for two actions that couldnt be more different its a giant wasted opportunity.
Its squandering the most powerful tools at our disposal. Its even worse when a designer actually conflates the two contexts as Shadow of Mordor does, saying that a sneaky kiss and a stealth kill are the same, that one is training for the other. In doing so, it throws away any possibility of real emotional relation to your in-game-characters wife.
Wait, I can stealth-kiss orcs in this game? That's so badass.
Good point. Any romance options in this game? I'm not normally so into orcs but when times are hard...
A whole new depth to the nemesis system. With orc exes.Good point. Any romance options in this game? I'm not normally so into orcs but when times are hard...
I think we're on to something here. Polygon, you've got another article to write regarding the absence of orc-love in SoM...A whole new depth to the nemesis system. With orc exes.
Ranger! You broke my heart.... now I'll pierce yours!
I personally am having an amazing three way romance in this game. I have spent many intimate moments with my sword, my bow and my dagger. They even have names and I have gone so far as to personalize them with runes. I love them all so much.Good point. Any romance options in this game? You're supposed to beat them by decapitation/piercing them in the head with a finisher. If not there's a slight chance that if their will is strong enough that they will come back. And if they come back once they can come back again. Voila you have a nemesis.Wait, the Orc Lord I killed came back? Shit. What is this madness.

Fire arrows are your best friend.Oh god, I think I'm boned. I screwed myself so hard, I got a 20 power warchief with 2 bodyguards one of wich is also 20 power and the other is 19. How do I deal with this? They all have hard as fuck to exploit weaknesses. The 20 power bodyguard is only weak to fire, how do I bring fire to him? Or does it have to be on site?
Which I still don't know how to consistently do lol. Is it when their health is low enough and you do the trigger plus square?I think they come back even if you pierce them in the head. The only sure fired way is to decap 'em.
So those of you who have invested a decent amount of time into the game, how long do you reckon it'l take to beat? even 100%?

I just beat it a couple hours ago and steam clocked me 17.6hrs. I did more stuff than just main missions and such though.
What?the "this guy sure is wacky" music for the ragtag stuff is so bad
If you turn both FX+Prompts off the only visual cue you have for a counter is the enemy's actual wind-up. As far as I can tell the only thing it still leaves in as prompts go are those stars above an enemy's head when they're dizzy and ready to be finished.
What?

Haha, yeah, it doesn't really work for a game this grim. I do like Ratbag though.
The music in this game is so damn good.
I have more success with decapitations using the execution maneuver (Y+B/Triangle+Circle).
I'm enjoying it at least. The main menu music when you first load up the game is excellent in my opinion, like a louder and more powerful version of God of War.Really? I'm pretty disappointed so far, it's nowhere near as epic as the movie score, for example.
I do love the music that plays in the upgrade menu, reminds me of Inon Zur's stuff for Prince of Persia 2008.
