I'll post this here incase anyone has some ideas. These errors seem to be fairly common as of late in the server console.

It appears to be something to do with mobs having the same UUID. I have attempted to kill specific mobs with the /kill command and the UUID but had no luck fixing the issue. One solution would be to kill all mobs on the server, not exactly something I want to do.

And Gafopolis Academy has been completed!

I modeled it somewhat off the design of the National University of Ireland in Galway, but I would've needed way more space (and I don't remember much of the inside, haha) so I just exercised artistic liberty.

There's many relevant and interesting courses for students to enroll in! Check below to see some of the offerings.

Not to mention the charm of studying in a building that has such a classical style and rich history. Why, it almost has a full week of history today!

We're looking forward to your enrollment

Looks like a generic MC issue, since searches for it are pulling up pre 1.9 issues and stuff with plugins, as well as 1.9 vanilla queries.

Anyone notice weird mob spawning rates since the change to 1.9? When I first got on after the update I was on alone and rates were really bad from my guardian base and out in the wilderness. Another time I was on with 3 or 4 other people and the rates noticeably better, which was weird since rates usually go down when there are more people who are spread out.

This morning there was just one other person on and nothing would spawn in my guardian pools and I found just a single spider when I ran out into the forest at night. Spawn rates have been noticeably lower in my nether fort too for some reason.

I've wanted to venture out into the dark wilds since the combat is supposed to be much more dangerous now but it almost feels like I'm on peaceful sometimes.

Haven't noticed anything weird regarding spawning on my end. Certainly enough skellies shooting me full of holes in the woods.

Cool, that's good news I guess. Maybe there are still some unlit caves nearby or a bunch of zombies holding things and unable to despawn.

It might just be general server lag, which has unfortunately ticked up a bit with 1.9. I was walking past Nihon's and realized that his entire stable was empty. Thought Minsc had nuked mobs for some reason, but when I came back a minute or two later they had all reappeared.

"'Skeleton trap' horses spawn from a fraction of lightning strikes during thunderstorms (3.75–7.5% chance on Easy, 7.5–20% on Normal, and 11.25–33.75% on Hard, depending on regional difficulty). They despawn after 15 minutes (18,000 ticks) if not triggered. Naturally-spawned traps are always skeleton horses, but with commands any horse may be made a trap."

Wonder if they'll end up decreasing that spawn rate, because that sounds like a royal pain for solo survival players.

I'm fortunate I've only run into them in areas I could easily escape. Considering the horses spawn in the ocean I'm afraid I'll get screwed one day when I'm not looking where I'm going and get riddled with no escape :p

I had two spawn on me in my NeoCraft episode within about 3 minutes of each other. Either I'm unlucky or those numbers are too low.

Even if it's 33% per lightning strike, a single storm can have a ton of lightning strikes. So if you get 100 lightning strikes in a storm, that can be 33 horses.

I've noticed this empty caves and the like.

One thing I have noticed is that local difficulty was reset and also appears to be tracking oddly. The first time I got on after the update it was a week or so after and the local difficulty was less than 2 and the day was 8 I think. A while later when I was seeing the really bad spawn rates the local difficulty had gone way up to around 3.5 and the day was somewhere in the 50s. This morning the local difficulty is exactly 3 and the day is in the 30s.

I'm not sure what all this means and how the number of days actually went down but I think this could explain the weird spawn rates. If I can I'm going to just sit in my base AFK until the inhabited time is maxed out and see if that improves things.

UPDATE: Local difficulty doesn't seem to be it because this morning was the worst example of the problem I've seen yet and the difficulty was 3.75 and day was 100+. When I logged on rikui_x2 was already on and said he was going to be AFK. What were you AFKing for btw? Maybe it can shed some light on the issue.

Anyway, after killing a couple guardians that were in my farm from last time I logged I didn't see another mob for the next 2 hours. There weren't even squid in the ocean in all directions as far as I could see. After working on a stairway build I decided to venture away from my base to a cave and see if anything would spawn. As I boated away from my base I did start seeing squid, sheep, and cows. When I found a cave I went in and for about 30mins I explored around gathering ore and using no torches. I saw ZERO mobs the entire time. I even ran into a abandoned mine shaft that was actually abandoned!

I headed back to my base and there was still nothing spawning until nihontiger logged in and then a couple guardians and slime showed up. Not sure what that means.

I googled this problem and found that pack spawning was changed in 1.9-pre2 but that doesn't sound like a complete explanation.

I've been playing recently my own modpack with Extra Bees mod. And suddenly I got Mystical bee, which demands 'Mystical' flower type.
Can anyone help me with understanding what flower it actually wants? Hour of googling gives me only this:
http://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/binnies-mods/files/2229932

Used mods:
binnie-mods-2.0-pre14.jar
buildcraft-6.4.14.jar
ChickenChunks-1.7.10-1.3.4.16-universal.jar
CodeChickenCore-1.7.10-1.0.6.39-universal.jar
CoFHCore-[1.7.10]3.0.2-262.jar
forestry_1.7.10-3.6.6.24.jar
growthcraft-1.7.10-2.3.1-complete.jar
industrialcraft-2-2.2.817-experimental.jar
NotEnoughItems-1.7.10-1.0.4.100-universal.jar
Railcraft_1.7.10-9.6.1.0.jar
Reis-Minimap-Mod-1.7.10.jar
ThermalDynamics-[1.7.10]1.0.0-122.jar
ThermalExpansion-[1.7.10]4.0.1-182.jar
ThermalFoundation-[1.7.10]1.0.0-81.jar

I actually don't want to update any of bees/trees related mods, because dev tend to change recipes very often, and I have my own exploration strategy with notes and so on (instead of just finding fastest solution in the Internet). So I may be use some outdated versions.

Just an FYI, I stumbled across the village around -3000, -1900 while riding the rail and I want to breed some of them and take the offspring back to my base to start my own breeder. Not sure who built the additions to it or if anyone cares but just wanted to drop a note here that there is a nether portal there now and will be some sort of breeding setup in the future but I'll take it all down after I get a bunch of villagers bred and transported.

Connect the village to the nether line? Right now the village is right along side the overworld rail line, not sure which one though. A couple of them did have some decent books (Efficiency 4 and Fortune 3) but I don't think that's worth building an entire rail line for. I'm going to have a dedicated rail line in the nether back to my base to transport the villagers but once I have them I won't need it anymore.

I'm assuming you're talking about the light blue line, so it'd be north of Spookyville.

Oh, I'm talking about having exporting villagers to another place.
We can also just spawn them from creative mode or play cure_zombie game, but if one does want connect breeding village to nether rails system, why not to ask?
Since they made villagers tradeable (at 1.4.7 ? ), it is very tempting to build custom villages. One of my old plans was making village in open ravine.

The thing with transporting villagers is you need a pretty specific rail line since you can't lure them with wheat like you can with cows and such. You need the rail line to go directly to wherever you plan to house them. That's why making a general purpose rail line to a breeder would be a lot of work for little benefit. I know you can spawn them in creative but I like the challenge of survival.

Yeah the amount of effort I went into luring zombies in my early days on the server... only to be an idiot and accidentally have the village wiped out, so I had to start over...

But now I've got enough villagers to spawn in five or six iron golems, last I checked :)

Nice. I only need 3 to start a breeder but it's already been pretty challenging. Since my spawn rates have tanked since the update to 1.9 my non-lethal modifications to my mob farm are a bust. When I do see any mobs spawn it's usually not zombies so waiting around for zombie villagers would take forever. It's funny that building a 1000 block rail tunnel through the nether will actually be easier than waiting for a couple mobs to spawn.

There are things you never become tired of. One of them is building towers, and another - building rail lines. Every person wants to build a tower, play with rails a bit, and build a castle. First two things are way more simpler.
The idea of rail transportation is making whole rails concept useful. It always cool to see a server with working rail system. Even if nobody use it very often.

Anyone actually done any villager breeding in 1.9 yet? I got my 3 villagers, one up on a platform with doors to create the village and the other 2 down in a holding area below. The problem is that the two villagers who are supposed to start the breeding won't pick up any of the carrots I throw at them and thus won't throw them at each other to start the willingness. AFAIK carrots will work with any villager. Maybe their inventory is full? Maybe I need to trade a bunch with them?

I've bred villagers in 1.8. I doubt it's any different.

Try trading with the villagers, that increases willingness to breed. Also how many houses you got? Might not have enough houses. Need at least 35% more "doors" than number of villagers to meet minimum breeding requirement. Unless you're trying infinite breeding bugs which it doesn't seem like.

I am trying an infinite breeder. I have a villager on a platform with 6 doors and then the other two about 13ish blocks below it. I'll try maxing out their trades but they should be picking up food regardless, right? Maybe their inventories are all full for some reason and I will have to cure zombies after all to have "fresh" villagers.

They don't have a farm in the village I got them from but it looks player made so I'm not sure where they originated from.

Fairly certain the one you're talking about was natural and just got touched up by someone or another (cause yeah the default villages don't look that pretty :p)

Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's right next to a desert temple and has an upper and lower level. Never seen a split level village naturally generate before.

Ooooh, that one. Yeah that one I made up. Just the temple was there originally, and I trucked in the villagers from the village a metro stop NE of it.

Hey guys! I was around here a couple of weeks ago asking if Minecraft was okay for my 5 yo. We have it for the xbox. We are having a BLAST.

I was watching a 'how to' survive first day tutorial, and they say to build your shelter on top of a hill, is that still advisable?

Also if you can't build a bed to pass the time, Do you guys just hang out? Can your Co-op player sleep in your same house or does every player need their own shelter?

Its actually very simple. You can wander around the first day to grab some wood and kill some sheep. As soon as you have 3 wool blocks and 3 planks block (from wood blocks) you are good to built a bed. It should be a priority in my opinion. For shelter it could anything. And as many players are the shelter can take. Being on a hill doesn't change anything. Its all about not letting mobs inside, thats all

Thank you so much!

Is there one resource that newbies should use? Seeing SO much that you can in this game (with animals, breeding them etc)

Torches! And lots of them. Torch up your whole shelter/base area so when you leave to go exploring there won't be any mobs spawned near it. Also torch up caves as you explore them both to prevent mobs spawning and killing you and to help you find your way back out. Choose left or right and always place them on that side of the cave wall as you go deeper into the cave so you know when you see them on the opposite side you are headed back the way you came. A wheat farm along with some penned in sheep or cows that you can breed and farm for meat will give you unlimited food. Grow wheat by planting seeds and then hold wheat in your hand to get sheep and cows to follow you to the pen. Iron is also something you shouldn't pass up early on since you'll need it for basic armor and tools.

Also, since you are playing with a 5 year old who is really into it, redstone machines are a great opportunity to inject some basic computer science principles into your gameplay. Something as simple as a button or pressure plate that powers a line of redstone to open a door or turn on a light somewhere else is a perfect way to teach the basics of input/output logic and such. Check out Mumbo Jumbo, xisumavoid, impulseSV, and TangoTek on youtube for everything redstone.

Those youtubers also do survival Let's Play videos that are fun and probably 95% kid friendly unless you have no problem with the occasional "dammit" and then they are 100% fine.

Great idea about the torches! I'm guessing there will be a good supply of coal to build torches?
Yeah, mostly in caves there's tons of it. You will also need it for your furnaces to cook food and smelt iron and gold ore. It also gives you XP which you will need for enchanting stuff but that's a ways away for you guys most likely.

You next problem is hunger. Start punching herb on the ground to get seeds and create a hoe and plant them near water. You will grow grass that you will transform into bread before you starve.

My advice is to learn it yourself. Many of us would pay money to forget how to play minecraft and learn it again.
You need to be killed by creeper explosion, die in lava after about few hours of mining resources, lose all your items at some place you could never find again, quit playing minecraft after such loses and return to again.
Your best source might be minecraft wiki. It will tell you how to make bed and many other items.

Yeah I have to say the Minecraft wiki's "how to play/first few days/nights" article just seem... joyless. I popped into my original 360 world the other day and while it looks amazingly bad compared to my standards now, I still appreciate that I learned how to do everything with it.
