Ok, I suppose that most of the land on this map is like completely explored and extracted of pretty much everything...
Is there a region that is not too far from the end of a line where I could go and have my piece of land and underground for my mining pleasure?

There's plenty of virgin land to stake your claim. North, west across the ocean, or south are your best bets though--a lot more people moved east than in those directions.
 
Oh my! I need to apologise in advance for when you eventually check out the fortress. The walls and main entrance are ~80% done (lots of towers and paths on the walls need building as well as a little something extra which I haven't yet figured out) and we have literally just started to build stuff inside the walls very recently. We have epic plans to do with separate castles on each of the mountain peaks contained within the walls, a town at the base with shops and whatnot, barracks and training grounds for an army of snowmen+golems, secret laboratory, maybe farmlands outside and a train station somewhere out in front of the entrance to connect to the TAMPON..... loads of plans and we're barely 5% there i reckon, not including the walls. Oh well!

Anyway, myself, Fran and Kien have been busy IRL recently which is why we've been on infrequently, but hopefully we will be on more often in future.

Steaks? Looks like we'll need baked potatoes to go with that! Hmm, maybe a field of cane as well. I wish I could make a windmill for the farm, maybe I'll Youtube those and see if I can find a nice design.

Fine video! I hadn't seen a lot of that stuff even when I was working on the rail, and now I can update the Metro map with those settlements I hadn't visited.

Edit: Also, I'm down for Clue. Would give me a reason to finish furnishing the Lodge! (Also I've begun hoarding in the attic now.)
 
Hey, I just noticed this bridgelike structure on the horizon of where I'm building and I was curious if anyone knew what it was. I was planning on building out that way as I expanded my build, and it's awful close. It's not that big of a deal, If it's something important, but if someone just made it temporarily and I could get rid of it, that would be great.

It's not that big of a deal, If it's something important, but if someone just made it temporarily and I could get rid of it, that would be great.

Yeah that's the red line. Charlie steams forward full power so if you can to divert it any you need to supplicate to him now :p

Speaking of lines.... updated GAF Metro map, in which things get even tinier! Haven't figured out what I'm going to do for Charlie's line, I guess it'll need its own map :p Click to make huge.


I'm thinking of running a line from Eskimo's under the water to those chaps on the western landmass, or i might just sit back and start double-tracking and finishing off rails; the Orange line is complete from the end of the line to TML's castle, and at portions between Tunlu and the western town, so I'll probably finish it off for proper bi-directional travel.

I've also excavated a path for the currently unused (and either light blue or magenta) line from GAF Central, sticking it through Mengy's ravine. You probably need to dig a bit further to be clear of his build, but beyond that the direction is up to whoever wants to use it.

Didn't realize the stronghold was so close to the middle of our map! Do we have a grinder set up in The End yet?

Not to my knowledge. I only visited briefly. I'm going to make a proper entrance and roads to the stronghold soon methinks.

EDIT: I've run some roads south from my place, and will have it sort of follow the orange line. Didn't know where you are going to build your station though.

The Grey line under the water should be connected to the circle really, or even extended all the way past spawn to Central. Who's responsible for the Eastern end of it and would you permit me to alter it?

Yeah, it was made by Andy. It was having rate problems in the beginning but I don't know if that has changed at all.

Potions make it a lot easier but a respiration helmet works fine too. I tend to look around the different grinders and farms for helmets.

My pride and joy is a respiration, aqua affinity, unbreaking 3 chainmail helmet. I've renamed it Scuba-duba-doo

Urgh, ok no problem I will move it. Not quite sure where too since everything is pretty messy to the south. I'll dismantle it later today when I can get on minecraft. I may accidentally generate a huge sphere of TNT right next to your ice palace though during the process. This would be purely a of maliciousness ;-) ....... did I say that out loud ?

Don't worry about it! The TAMPON actually looks really cool, so I wouldn't mind having the line go by. Really, it's fine.

Did some calculations. If i'm to restart my NeoCraft project on Gafland, i need some 5000 blocks of sandstone. And that's for the floor, walls and roof (though in practice it is likely enough, even for interior things).
Hmph. Why do i have to think big? And choose a block type that isn't the most readily available material...

I figure a simple CnC Construction Yard would be a much easier project... though it lacks the grandeur the other idea has.

I'm sure you can pool sand from other people. I've probably got some stacks I can start throwing your way. Just make a chest at spawn and I'll start contributing.

Also--Woolley, I dismantled one of your beacons and moved it to Joe's place, since I'm extending the rail past his place into the sea.

Looks like I am south of you now. Right the other side of the mountain at Diggeth's place and the "futur lake". So we are new neighbours, Im gonna take the surroundings of the meeting point between the Mesa plateau, Jungle, Moutains with snow tops and forest biomes.

Actually with the new terrain gen, sandstone is very common. Big hills or mountains in the desert (there's one SE of spawn) are solid sandstone and you can demolish them in seconds with a high efficiency pick. Fill your pockets in no time :)

That doesn't sound too big. It's only one and a half double chests worth of sandstone. Or six double chests worth of sand (313 stacks of 64). Just find an abandoned desert, make the 157 stone shovels you will need and dig it all up, and BAM you are golden.

NOW, if you are really ambitious, take that desert and mine all of that sand and sandstone underneath the surface! Build up a cobble floor under the desert surface to preserve it for serenity's sake, and then just hollow it all out underneath your new Desert National Preserve. THAT, my friend Woorlong, is thinking BIG. :)

Hollowing out a sandstone mountain is much much easier than mining sand (and leaves the surface pristine too) The one SE of spawn is unspoiled. I've hollowed out loads of mine. There's a bunch of promising hills around the crisp-o-sphere too.

Kind of blade shaped structure. You can see my original project on NeoCraft (i don't want to finish that one though, creative mode ain't fun), the desert near the spawn.

Sure, if there is one that is some 40-blocks high (14 wide, 28 long) and is in reasonable location.

No hurry, i need to make some plans. No idea when i get a chance to play properly. Need to finish AvP2 re-playthrough first too.

Speaking of lines.... updated GAF Metro map, in which things get even tinier! Haven't figured out what I'm going to do for Charlie's line, I guess it'll need its own map :p Click to make huge.

I'm thinking of running a line from Eskimo's under the water to those chaps on the western landmass, or i might just sit back and start double-tracking and finishing off rails; the Orange line is complete from the end of the line to TML's castle, and at portions between Tunlu and the western town, so I'll probably finish it off for proper bi-directional travel.

I've also excavated a path for the currently unused (and either light blue or magenta) line from GAF Central, sticking it through Mengy's ravine. You probably need to dig a bit further to be clear of his build, but beyond that the direction is up to whoever wants to use it.

Dang, I was hoping we'd have the MCM Lighthouse and "Structure" done before you all went putting it on maps and what-not. Oh well.

I was thinking it might be easier to build a rail to our continent through the nether, rather than in the overworld. Either way, we could build a station in the base of the MCM Lighthouse to serve the rest of the western territory. There's a small subterranean ravine beneath the lighthouse that we could start out with for that purpose, if needed.

Just finished Slime Pit phases III and IV (24 columns + tube tunnel/main entrance). Total mined blocks count so far is over 1 million. ~700K mined using diamond pickaxes. Radius is 127. 157 with columns.
