Can someone give me a brief overview of the difficulty levels and how they make it harder.
I bought the game last night..finally..I was scared notch was going broke
and ive played 6 hours so far...F'n game.lol.
Im just learning the ropes on easy but still get beat up some, Im thinking I should just up the difficulty and start over before I get too far in??

If you want the vita version for free, you have to buy the PS3 version. I think you have to own the digital PS3 version to get vita version free but not entirely sure. Then add $4.99 to upgrade to PS4 version.
And Vita version isn't out yet.

So is there a known bug in the PS4 version that let's your houses and all stuff in it disappear? I got this game 3 days ago and had to start my 3rd new game already.
It happened 2 days in a row that I loaded my saved game from last night. I got spawned where my bed should be but all my constructions and boxes disappeared. Only the stuff I had on me was still there.
I really love this game already but if this keeps happening I won't keep playing it for long. All those hours of 'hard work' lost.

Me and our boy went out for a pootle about on it at 9pm on the PS4 - have a quick look, check the performance differences, faff about here and there.

yeah. i only did the front. forgot i had a back where they can spawn from and fall in lol. guess i'll go mine some stuff and ugprade to the fancier walls

There has to be. I went to a mine and came back up and huge chunks of my house were missing...very annoying.
Also people have things in their chests disappearing.
Was up to 2 am yesterday checking out a deep cave near my new jungle railway station. Goes deep! Was able to find a lot of gold, and several pieces of diamond. Also now have over 350 redstone dusts. I now literally could make a control station for the 1st path, haha.
With this new supply of gold, I'll be able to make more tracks and extend my line a lot further. I am way in the air in the jungle track! Just above some of the largest trees. Has a nice view, though scare as hell when trying to extend it with fear of falling. haha

Check out the chart on this wiki page for optimum powered rail spacing, no need to waste precious gold with a bunch of powered rails that don't boost you any faster or further.
If you enable sneak mode (click R3 on PS4) you cannot fall of edges of blocks. This makes building "sky rails" or other over hang structures much easier to handle.

I hate to ask this question. Out of the box, who has the best version of minecraft? I've only ever played the the pc version. My 6 year old daughter is really big into it and I want to get her setup with something that might be a bit more natural for her to use.
Thanks! I prob could revisit some of my other tracks. The huge track going from underground to way above the ground really kills it and needs a good bit of powered tracks.
It's funny, my son only plays Minecraft on the PC, and has been playing it since the alpha. I think he has learned an enormous amount about how to use a PC and Windows in general from years of dealing with installing mods and figuring out how to run his own MC server on the PC.
Pretty sure getting him Guild Wars when he turned 5 also taught him in large part how to read.
Don't move her off of the PC version, it can be a learning tool in addition to a game. You might have to step in to help install some shader mod or something, but kids are amazing in how you show them something once, and the next thing you know, they're doing it better and faster than you.

I've died at least 3 times hurriedly trying to find my stuff with nothing on me to defend myself, so it looks like I'm gonna have to build up all my tools and start again.

This happened to me while in the jungle. I think im done playing the game now. I was having so much fun, but I refuse to get all the stuff I had on me again. I cant even make a map again because Ive yet to find redstone. Fuck this game. fuck ittttt
Dig down. Way down, way way way down. Redstones, while uncommon, are quite everywhere. Iron/Coal is quite common.
I've died a few times and lost good items before, sucks when that happens. I've had quite a few close calls with monsters before too.
I've fucking lost everything again, in the same mine. Every time I see a mob down there I turn around and there's at least 5 more, so whenever I've gone back to retrieve my stuff I've died over and over again. The annoying thing is the mine has a shit tonne of ore in it as well. I even saw diamond but had nothing to mine it out with (I was there to get iron). All the iron I had mined out is now gone forever with the rest of my stuff. I'm so pissed right now, hope the neighbours haven't heard me raging.

Hmm I'm thinking of buying this for Ps4. I've never played this game before, the demo was...okay/good but woah...this game is ugly. I'm not sure if I can stand those visuals for more than two hours.
I don't like getting killed by monsters at night or in mines (and losing all my stuff). Seems to be very frustrating.

Believe me, I've restarted waaaay too many times on PC because of that. My best advice is that you just need to build up your home base a lot. Once you get some supplies saved up, you don't mind dying. Just don't take more than 2-3 pickaxes, since that guarantees you won't stay down there mining forever (you'll have to come back up once they're gone).

I do! One of the reasons I was so surprised by all the mobs was because I though I had put down plenty of torches. I just keep getting overwhelmed by a group of mobs, particularly skeletons, especially when I have barely anything to defend myself with (I was getting the iron mainly to build some armour).

Take your own bow and arrow to defend yourself, that sucks items disappear, I've only died once but managed to get all my stuff back.
I try to not carry valuables with me.

Mind, I'm terrible at it. I get Dead Space vibes when I'm dicking about in a mine. I hear a groan and the world stops. I hear another one and I'm fucking out of there.
I started playing on Survival for the first time ever two days ago. My first map was a nightmare, kept dying and losing everything. I was frustrated and deleted the map and started over.
Second map: I've been having so much damn fun. I've build a great stone home with steel door, functioning farm on the roof and a mining shaft in the back. I dug straight down to level 12 (as I hear this has the most hits) and am absolutely drowning in ore. I have a full set of Iron Armor plus about 125+ iron bars, , 15 gold bars, about 8 stacks of 64 redstone dust (which I've yet to figure out how to use), 50 or so diamonds and about 75 lapis lazuli. The only thing I'm struggling to find is emeralds.
I'm planning on rolling back the mining and maybe start to figure out enchanting and potions at some point. Great fun, why did I never play this on PC?

I really enjoy the thrill of naked, nighttime suicide runs to get back your items and equipment after dying. Its nerve-wracking at the time, but in a good way. I've pulled off some amazing recoveries and also suffered some disasterous failures. But when it does work out, you feel fantastic for it.Fuck. You do get better at knowing how to protect yourself too, and its not simply about what weapon and an armor you have.

I was playing co-op. There's nothing funnier than seeing your Brother scanning the majestic occupancy he's built from the opposite shore and not notice the creeper idling up behind him...

I loved it when I died, I crafted a sword and nothing else and went into revenge mode to get the swine who killed me and get my stuff!
Is the garden well lit? Monsters can spawn in dark areas, even if you have them blocked off.
Get light everywhere. No dark corners or dark spots in the middle of a room, or monsters can still spawn there. All it takes is a dark corner. IRL I'd probably die from smoke inhalation from all the torches in my house.

So is the upgrade from 360 to Xbox One thing just kind of a crap shoot? It seems it works for some and not for others. My friend isn't able to get it working. He even tried uploading a map, playing online, got some achievements, and saved his game. Nothing.
I was able to upgrade from PS3 to PS4 no problem.

So, I decided to cave and bought this after the demo trial ran out, and I was still fooling around in the opening area.
I am having fun with it...spent yesterday building a house with local co-op just on the tutorial level, and explored the rest of the tutorial level today.
Opened a new game to play online and fooled around trying to survive in that too.
I am actually wondering what to do next... I mean, I've gotten a handle on most of the things like fishing, cooking, etc., but do I just mine stuff in caves now?
If I start a new world (outside of the tutorial), are there areas in the game that are dungeons? Or is everything the same as the tutorial, but with less pre-made structures? What do 8 players in an online game usually do?

Ooo that be cool. You should see the tract now, I bent it right diagonally and then right to make it go straight for few hundred meters. Still haven't even left the Jungle. haha.
I've fallen off a few times now, so I've gotten smart and leave a chest-cart behind me with all my stuff and only carry an ax/shovel/sword and oak wood planks. So If I die and can't get my items back, no big deal!
Edit: I now have over 700 redstone. haha

Hope I'm not being annoying, few more points:
-Is there any hope for Adventure mode on consoles? I'd like to download a created level and just play through it.

Wtf is going on with this game? I've played another several hours yesterday just to find my house and all stuff in it disappearing again when I loaded the game up today. The small screenshot in the loading menu shows the right picture where I left off, I get spawned where my bed should be, I still have all my inventory but the whole map seems to be reset. Everything I built and dug is just gone.
I tried to delete the game and all offline and online saves and reinstalled it again. I started the game and just built a small hut. Exited the game, loaded up the save, which again showed the small hut in the screenshot, but had the same result. Nothing was saved except my inventory. Everything else disappeared.
This makes the game completely unplayable for me. Nobody else having this issue? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any suggestions what to do? I'm getting really frustrated now.
