Rankings are stupid.

I thought people knew that by now.

Werdum is ranked 3rd, Overeem is rank 8th, yet Overeem is by far the favourite to win the bout, and I think the favourite to win the whole GP, too.

Brock Lesnar being ranked 2nd is an even bigger joke...

A win over an old man, Shane Carwin, whose most wins are from cans who don't even have a Wikipedia page, being 1-1 with Frank Mir, and beating Heath Herring by decision, who was a crappy fighter even in his prime gets you ranked 2nd?

Lesnar's record is 5-2, and he's rank 2nd in the world as a HW.

I don't know how anybody can take that seriously...

Now, if Lesnar beats Junior Dos Santos, then I'll be impressed.

This.

it's weird i coulda sworn last year mousasi was talking about fight four times a year or more. now he hasn't fought since september and won't be fighting again til april (mike kyle, bleh)

He fought a K-1 bout in last December Dynamite!! 2010 against Kyotaro.
He won by decision.(gassed out in the last round but he dominated the entire match)

Jimmy Wales Wikipedia said:
Mousasi defeated Kyotaro via unanimous decision (30-28, 29-28, 29-28).

EDIT: Oh youre probably talking about MMA right? Disregard my post then V__V

Either all of the Fight Club tickets are already sold out, or ticketmaster is just f'ing up, because I can't get any number of tickets at any price....

It's funny how up till the King Mo fight so many people, including me, were expecting him to be the 205 version of Fedor (I mean old Fedor, not fucked up management Fedor).

he was an interesting prospect for sure. he's become a total afterthought now and it's b/c of his own decisions tbh.

Mousasi is one of my favorite fighters it would be a shame he leaving MMA .... for boxing.

Meltzer says 33,000 were sold by 10:30

http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/19411/

--We don't have an update on UFC ticket sales for the 4/30 show in Toronto. They had passed the 33,000 mark at 10:30 a.m. this morning for the Fight Club member pre sale. Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday. Tickets remain on sale for Fight Club members the rest of the day today as well as tomorrow, and for UFC newsletter subscribers starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. There will be some tickets held back for the public on Saturday, but probably not a lot. Of those tickets, at least 23,000 were sold at more than $100.

Goddammit!

I blame all the Torontonians who bought Fight Club memberships just for this event.

*Gives cold stare at BigJonsson*

I was able to get UFC 124 tix at like 7pm on the day of the presale... :(

Blame my buddy that bought 6 tickets and TWO memberships + ticket packages today so he can sell them at face value to people he works with

But really blame the UFC for having ticket + FC memberships available at the presale.......they might as well just hike the price of all tix by 90 bucks then

Why are tickets to UFC events so expensive? I now understand why people who paid for tickets to watch silva dance with maia were so pissed. Some of those people paid like 800 bucks?

GSP is a money making machine.
Plus is one of the most talented fighters in the world

<3 GSP <3

Because people pay for it. They are priced at what the market will bare.

I bet at least 15k of those seats were bought by "ticket brokers" (aka douchebag Scalpers with bigger pockets)
Yeah I saw something about how there's thousands of seats left to 127 because they all got snatched up by overeager scalpers. This seems to be even more of a problem for the foreign shows for some reason.

Damnit, I wish I was still in SoCal...

This would've been interesting! My Alma Mater is organizing the following with an old alumni...

DAMN @ Shogun's kicks... Guess his knees really are recovered.

Again, I've got Shogun all fucking day against Jones.

Yep, if he's healthy... Jones isn't gonna like it when a murderer is attacking him.

And I'm a Jones nuthugger.

Man, I'd love to sit in on that. Lorenzo's one of those guys I can listen to talk all day.

Word on PVT is that he started training cardio awhile back when he couldn't do any heavy work with his knees in order to stay in shape, I hope it's true because we all know what happened last time Shogun had a long layoff between fights.

they're fighting k-1 rules now? b/c that's about all that will keep shogun upright for more than a minute in that fight

We need to make a wrestler version of the old "a bjj black belt turns into a white fists are flying" line.

We need to develop some higher tech PEDs so that MMA fighters don't get injured so damn often :|

Nanotechnology man. Inject these fuckers with some kind of medical nanobots that rebuild damaged tendons and whatnot.

UFC 400: JC Denton vs. Walton Simons.

Shogun has some sick Jiu Jitsu and great sweeps, Jones can certainly plant Shogun on his ass but keeping him there is going to be problematic. On the feet Shogun absolutely kills Jones.

What the faq!

GSP doesnt do Conditioning,Cardio and Strength training.

So i was reading Sherdog HW Rankings:
1. Cain Velasquez
2. Brock Lesnar
3. Fabricio Werdum
4. Fedor Emilianenko
5. Junior dos Santos
6. Shane Carwin
7. Frank Mir
8. Alistair Overeem
9. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
10. Antonio Silva.

Lesnar > Werdum,Fedor and Overeem? Really?
Carwin and Mir better ranked than Overeem? Really?
Rankings are typically based on wins against decently ranked opponents and not who you think who can beat who hypothetically. For anyone of them to be above Overeem is reasonable.

Lesnar's position is arguably though. Based on his wins he should be top 10 though. Couture (I think), Mir, and Carwin were all decently ranked by Sherdog (and most MMA websites) when he beat them. Maybe even Herring also. 3 recent ranked wins is a lot more than most Heavyweights can say.

When you start ranking based on how you perceive someone's ability and disregarding wins, then you tend to get wacky and even more subjective rankings.

Shogun:

+150 underdog against Chuck
+360 underdog against Machida
+160 underdog against Machida for the rematch
+180 underdog against Jon Jones

smh. This is what happens when you let people buy 8 tickets per person in a presale.

This will be the highest scalped event in Toronto's history. My guess is 75-80% of those tickets will be resold.

Dana's response: "I LOVE CANADA" in caps. God dammit.
