Mo states that the Cards had discussed a longer deal with Lynn, but then they agreed on the 3 year deal at a lower price.

Sounds like someone is adamant to test free agency.

Aoki to the Giants on a 1yr deal.

lol at Grant's take:

First, thank goodness for the Braves. After trading Evan Gattis and Justin Upton, the Braves are projected to hit six home runs next year. This means when the Giants hit seven, everyone here can point at the Braves and laugh and laugh. "Can you imagine? Six home runs! Just like us, but without the Guillermo Quiroz inside-the-parker. What a world."

Aoki hell yea. We about to have the weirdest outfield in the league when Gregor gets injured and they got Ishikawa Aoki and Pence out there.

will gain confidence one day
The Braves probably blew up their shot at signing any more Asian players after the Kawakami disaster anyways.

The Tigers have avoided arbitration with David Price, agreeing on a 1-year, $19.75 million contract for 2015. Price's contract is the largest arbitration contract in MLB history, topping (former?) teammate Max Scherzer's 1-year, $15.525 million agreement last season.

So just like 2012 then? No problem!

lol at the Phillies and Braves at the bottom there.

There are the Giants, all by themselves. The Braves and Phillies project to hit relatively few dingers, and they’re also projected to suck. The Giants are projected to hit even fewer dingers, but at the same time they’re projected for almost as much position-player WAR as the Orioles, who have the highest team dinger projection. It’s almost like the Giants know what they’re doing. For as much crap as Sabean has taken over the years when he was thought to be the furthest thing from an analytical executive, that was never close to the truth, and here we have evidence to support the idea that Sabean believes in WAR. Or at least that he believes a run is a run, no matter how it’s created. Power, right now, is highly valued. So Sabean has sacrificed power, without sacrificing much in the way of total value.

I dig the Aoki signing. Pretty good bat and a great LF defender was going to be a problem anyway. Him platooning with Ishikawa will have to do for now.

I'll totally take aoki to platoon. Better than nothing.

It'll be Aoki starting games with Blanco moving in as defensive replacement late.

Though given Pagan's history of injuries, it'll likely mean Blanco in center with Aoki starting in left and Perez going in as defensive sub.

Players who did not agree to arbitration before Friday's deadline. First figure is what the player requested. Second figure is the team's counter offer.

It's going to be interesting to watch a Braves team that's in full rebuild mode. First time since the 80's.

Should make tickets cheaper at least.

It probably means Zimmermann is gone. That's the most likely scenario. But this could also mean Desmond is gone as well OR they plan on signing him.

But shit if it happens then 2015 rotation will be killer. And then I'll be disappointed when we choke in the playoffs.

@jonmorosi: #Nats have been talking with "multiple" teams on Jordan Zimmermann trade possibilities over past few weeks, sources say.

Hopefully the Red Sox are on him.

I would keep Zimmerman over signing Scherzer. Max is too much money's, and I don't like his fly alll rate or pitches per inning. He's poised to fall off a cliff.
