Should change the pct of to stay on as well. Whats the sense of seeing someone year in and out get 20% until the last 3-4 when they get 40-50% and still not make it. 5% to stay is really too low.

Off topic: Interesting to go through the years and see all the people that got at least 1 vote and wonder how some of the guys got a votes and wonder why and what the reasoning was.

Yeah sure he been struggling in AAA but he was there #2 prospect going into this season by baseballamerica ranking and giving him in for Jake Peavy. Thats a Dave Little type trade.

And he was struggling in the PCL which is the minor league equivalent of touring launch pads. They have multiple home parks in the circuit equal to or greater than Coors Field in hitter friendliness, none of them keep their baseballs in humidors either.

He's incredibly young for his level and previously was always a lights out guy. Huge get in exchange for Peavy. If this is what selling this year looks like the Red Sox could do very well if they decide to move the desirable pieces in Miller, Uehara, Lester, and potentially Gomes or Drew if a team has a specific need (and the Sox pay most or all of their remaining contract).

Olney is reporting the Red Sox are only going to pay half of the remaining salary for Peavy ($2.5 million) and he is expected to start Sunday night against the Dodgers.

They got Edwin Escobar for Peavy?! Whaaaaaaat?

Escobar hasn't been doing that great in the minors. Could be another Tim Alderson type situation.

Giving up Escobar AND Hembree though was probably too much.

lol Sabean

Then again, he's had just enough wacky transactions turn out to work perfectly so we'll have to hope that even year magic holds up.

Giants trying to pull out all the stops to keep us from taking the NL West. First Atlanta's favorite son Dan Uggla and now Jake Peavy.

They scared.

Dodgers haven't made a single move all year!

In other news, Puig stopped by PlayStation HQ.

Midseason moves were the keys to 2 championships. Sabean trying to stick to the formula!

Probably didn't get high enough -- that easily could've been a double play ball. Though if it hadn't dropped for a hit, Gibbons probably would've been arguing just that.

EDIT: okay, that was pretty bad. Maybe Girardi didn't argue because he was too embarrassed his infielders couldn't catch that?

lesters cool but he would be an expensive rental since we know he wants to go back to boston anyway

I'm thinking the dodgers won't make any big trades at this point.. if they can just find a ricky nolasco type to fill out the rotation and maybe a bullpen arm

The teams with those kinds of starters are probably waiting to see if anything happens with Lee/Price/Lester. If they don't move, the 2nd and 3rd tier starters all of a sudden become more valuable.

Carp asked to be traded. Could be a good guy off the bench.

@PeteAbe: Mike Carp, a valuable bench player for the #RedSox last season, has requested a trade. Spoke to the team after the break.

Lester is going to go for the money when he hits FA.
