MLB 2016 Regular Season Official Thread - Do Not Attempt to Ketchup

Maddon likes using him for multiple innings.

I get this line of thinking, but it's pretty bad managing. Matheny does it too. As we just saw, there is no 10th inning if the reliever gives up a run in the 9th.

Should always use your best reliever at the most critical moments. Save Warren for later, when it's actually in extra innings.

lead off triple can't score ;/

oh well, ideally sale and quintana are on point and the white sox can take the next two.

taking 3 out of 4 is ideal, but even just a split would be fine. at least they won the first one to guarantee cleveland won't be in first after this series.

really I will be super depressed if sale doesn't go 10-0 tomorrow :p

Salvy continues raking at Target. 5/5 tonight with three singles, a double, and a triple. Sad he didn't get the cycle, but that's a wild stat line.

Yeah he's doing awesome.

Also it looks like there are more Royals fans than Twins fans at the Twins stadium.

And everyone is making weird as dog howls there now.

Well at least with Kershaw pitching the Dodgers can typically expect a win. Now let's see if Kershaw can get the CG win :)

edit: No drama, Kershaw gets the side out in the 9th. Dodgers win! :)

edit2: Now it's up to the Padres to beat the Giants to make the night complete ;-)

The Cubs huge lead is now 5 on the Bucs. Coming scorching out of the gate really helped us because we are playing like crap. Not sure there is really a savior in the minor leagues this time either. Wilson Contreras could get the call(number #1 catching spec in the MLB per a few reports), but Maddon pretty much said he wouldn't hand the pitching staff to a rookie. I guess we just have to wait for things to straighten out.

to be fair it was expected even the cubs would go through a rough patch. it just happens. any good team is going to have a period where they don't play well and any bad team will have a period where they play well. at least your lead was even better. white sox have to fix themselves now or fall back hard as they are facing the second and third place teams for the next week.

believe it or not the braves and twins both will likely have a 4-5 game winning streak and sweep someone before the year is over :p

Detroit is hit its way back into the picture too. As expected Miggy couldn't be un Miggy like for more then a month before heating up. JD is heating up as well, Maybin is actually giving us production at CF, along with VMatt,Kinsler and Nick still raking. Just need more vintage JV like the last couple of starts, Fulmer to continue improving and the Zimmerman issue not being to serious and Norris finally getting on the mound so we can banish Pelfry to the neverrealm.

Rich Hill: 7-3, 2.16, 1.11 WHIP, 10.1 k/9, 2.1 WAR, $6m.

For AL pitchers, 4th in WAR, 3rd in ERA, 2nd in Wins, 5th in K/9.

1st in hit batters.

Sale should get the start in the ASG, but Hill's got an argument to be next on the bump.

SO hard to watch Jose Abreu look clueless at the plate and he couldn't hit a softball on a tee right now.

Hope Sale is on tonight and the offense gets him some runs. I hate that almost every game the White SOx either do just enough to win or just enough to lose.

I hope Julio Urias turns out to be a gem for the Dodgers at the MLB level whenever he gets called up *fingers crossed*

Holy shit, just seeing now how well he's started in AAA this season. 4-1, 1.1 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and a 44/8 K/BB. We've gotta give him a shot one of these days.
