So I'm looking through the All Star Ballot update and it's all much what you'd expect until this:

SHORTSTOP
1. Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox: 598,847
2. Alcides Escobar, Royals: 593,218

What the fuck is this? Almost as many people voted for the guy worth 0.1 WAR with a pitiful .267/.298/.313 line as did the AL leading hitter worth 3.0 WAR already who has got a hit in the last 24 consecutive games? Really?

one plays for KC, the other for boston.

we know from last year KC fans vote a lot (some of them thousands of times over many alt accounts :p)

Were you not around last year when the entire starting lineup for KC almost got voted in for the AL?

Wat. A lot of people picked them to win the AL East this season.

Yeah not sure "biggest surprise" works here. Behind Toronto (lol), Boston was the 2nd favorite to win the East, with the Yanks and Rays distantly behind.

If anyone's the biggest surprise so far it'd be Baltimore. The other big surprise would be how bad Houston's been so far.

I don't know how I would feel if the Rays tear down my old High School to build a new ballpark. But that's one of the Tampa sites they are eyeing now.

fan interference is challangable right?
because that was totally interference.

edit: they are calling a replay... there is no way that isn't called the ball hit the fan's arms about a half a foot away from the rail lol.

edit 2: I don't like that this is taking a while, this is textbook fan interference, but they did get the call right after way to long.

and now since it was ruled that the fan is being escorted out. poor old guy.

edit
man the mets are really bad in certain situations

that has to be maddening as a fan @_@

0-3 3Ks for Conforto today already. More a freefall than a slump.

Oh, and speaking of freefalls, there's the Chicago White Sox.

to be fair they hit the ground yesterday and are no longer quite in free fall.

but there is still time to find out if they merely hit the edge of a cliff and are gonna fall more or if they finally stopped.

the fact the batter didn't check his swing with the bases loaded sure helps give the white sox hope to come back and win this.

edit: YES! tie game right before I have to go to work ><;
at least I know the white sox won't lose 1 nothing now.

Freefall is a touch harsh, but given early season dominance they have just looked burnt out of late.

Sadly, the Royals got some easy games at just the right time.

EDIT: oh hi Todd Frazier

actually they don't look burnt out at all.
the worst part about the recent horrible losing is that for the most part they have only been losing by 1-2 runs, and the offense and starting pitching has been on point.

the bullpen which dominated in april suddenly fell apart. If the bullpen was working as expected instead of being like 4 and 14 over their last 18 games they would be far closer to 9-9 if not better. (quick look around 8 of the loses were on the bullpen but 1 or 2 might be before the really bad stretch)

don't get me wrong the starters and offense had a few off days here or there but for the most part the white sox have stayed competitive, just falling short repeatedly.

ideally the bullpen goes back to only giving up 1 run over 3 innings or so (so a 3 era which is a good but not overly crazy good bullpen) instead of a 8 or so ERA which they have enjoyed for the last 3 weeks.

come on alex get a hit take the lead so I won't be late to work >.<:
I can't leave while the score is tied with a runner in scoring position ><:

edit: oh well, tie game going into the bottom of the 7th isn't to bad. off to work, hopefully I come home to good news.

Felix hasn't looked right this season. Maybe this will do him some good.

Yeah, I'm not too worried. Dude has some ridiculous time on his arm for a 30yo pitcher, maybe some rest throughout the season will do good.

Apparently he sprained his calf by jumping up during a homer yesterday. His body just isn't used to seeing winning. LOL
:(

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez is heading to the 15-day disabled list after suffering a strained right calf Tuesday as he leapt from the bench to celebrate one of the club’s five home runs in a 16-4 victory over San Diego at Safeco Field. - Bob Dutton

As Mortemis pointed out.

Felix gotta realize he's 30 now ... not 24.
