BS strike zone, as always vs these guys.

Hopefully Betances has his usual yips followed by crazy dominance for months after the first few games.

Royals #2 starter is 36 year old, 6'10" Chris Young. His fastball is 87 MPH. He needed a rib and his scalene muscles removed to fix his collarbone so he could feel his fingers. He strikes out nobody. He gives up no ground balls, and has the lowest rate in MLB since 2002. He gives up either a fly ball or a home run almost every single at bat.

The fact that he's above Ventura and Kennedy in our rotation tells you all you need to know about Royals starting pitchers this year. Should be...interesting. I'm a Young fan, but he's a long reliever at best.

Fascinating dude, fascinating article on his operation and recovery:

Sorry what does "game played under protest" means? Is that some new rule?

It is a rule as old as time.

4.19
PROTESTING GAMES.
Each league shall adopt rules governing procedure for protesting a game, when a manager claims that an umpire’s decision is in violation of these rules. No protest shall ever be permitted on judgment decisions by the umpire. In all protested games, the decision of the League President shall be final.
Even if it is held that the protested decision violated the rules, no replay of the game will be ordered unless in the opinion of the League President the violation adversely affected the protesting team’s chances of winning the game.
Rule 4.19 Comment: Whenever a manager protests a game because of alleged misapplication of the rules the protest will not be recognized unless the umpires are notified at the time the play under protest occurs and before the next pitch, play or attempted play. A protest arising on a game-ending play may be filed until 12 noon the following day with the league office.

Thank you, how do you even prove that this play affected the Yankees chances of wining?

you really don't.
I am not following the game, but I am assuming if it went under protest it would be because of the base running thing people were talking about.

which is a judgement call of the umps.

which isn't reviewable.

so a protest in this case is little more than throwing a hissy fit.

you basically have to show beyond a doubt that there was a violation of the rules that the umps missed or that the umps were legitimately out to get you. it's pretty much not gonna happen with all the cameras on plays anymore for the first part, and the baseball higher ups would never admit to the second thing happening so yeah..
