Not a good haul but you have to factor in the potential 50 game suspension.

Yankees were very, very close to trading Andrew Miller to the Astros during the Winter Meetings. Would've been similar to Ken Giles deal.
It's not. Davis is the best prospect in the deal, projected to be a mid rotation starter at best (BA ranked him as our 6th best prospect). Jagielo has power but can't field and will have to move to first soon. Cotham could be a decent bullpen arm and Renda isn't much of a prospect.I'm a Reds fan. Is this sarcasm because I really don't know.
The offense and starting pitching are still....average.Certainly makes the Yankees World Series favorites with that bullpen. Down right scary.
Good luck. Can't wait to see Donaldson, Jose and Edwin take him yard
Not a bad deal. The 50 game suspension is unfortunate but it's a one time cost. You take the one time WAR hit into account.
Just for some perspective, the Yankees had the 14th best odds of winning the World Series as of December 23rd at +2500
If anybody seriously thinks Chapman rockets them anywhere close to 1st where the Cubs currently sit (let alone to the Top 10)....lol.
The offense and starting pitching are still....average.
Runs - 2nd
wOBA - 4th
wRC+ - 6th
The team is old, they'll start out hot and then fall apart. They need young talent.Runs - 2nd

The starting pitching only has to last six innings and then you bring in the guns. The offense and starting pitching are still....average.
Didi, Castro, Severino, Bird, Hicks, Judge, and Sanchez will all be under the age of 26 by the time opening day comes. They have some young talent, it's not the best, but it's a whole lot better than just a year or two.The team is old, they'll start out hot and then fall apart. They need young talent.
If he's suspended for more than 45 days, the Yankees get get one more year of control.hes suspended 50 games for sure?
pinstripes will suit the wife beater
So how do you guys feel about having to root for Chapman now?
That's not the type of young talent that will carry them to a World Series championship. Castro and Cashman are a pretty good start though.Didi, Castro, Severino, Bird, Hicks, Judge, and Sanchez will all be under the age of 26 by the time opening day comes. As for the whole morality thing, I really don't know. This is on a whole other level than PEDs.

We have Centaur power to counter that. It's almost like old players get worse as they age

Likewise. Especially when you consider that the Yanks play in a division with tons of power hitters and hitter friendly ballparks (Including their very own) so I wonder if that diminishes Chapman's mystique a bit.
Good lord that BP.
Good lord.
And they got him for basically nothing.
Chapman da gawd.
Chapman?
But why?
Chapman?
But why?
I mean, they got Starlin "accused of sexual assault but never got charged because of insufficient physical evidence" Castro.Domestic abuse is a-okay in yankee land.
