Bad news, Scott Rolen is starting again tonight. Hopefully he doesn't embarrass himself too much on national tv.

I missed this. He misused pine tar?

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120715&content_id=35003412&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

Ozzie told the umpire that Harpers bat had too much pinetar and it was above the label after his first AB. Harper's second AB he comes up with a new bat with even more pinetar on it and then points the bat at Ozzie and Ozzie loses his shit at the Nats dugout.

Its ironic of course because Ozzie wasn't trying to make a big deal about it. He could have showed Harper up the same way the Nats did to Peralta by asking the umpires to look at his bat before the first AB but decided to not make a big deal about it, and Harper still acts like a punk anyway.

Davey Johnson whining about the whole ordeal is freaking hilarious. Gamesmanship all the way around.

Yeah. He's got a lot to learn about the unwritten rules of baseball. He tends to make showy gestures, which is what got him beaned by Hamels. (He had been pumping his fists after base hits like he's on Xbox Live).

Whatever bro, Harper gonna harp

Anyway don't act like you wouldn't take the chance to show up Ozzie if you had one.

I also think that the other guys in baseball are a bit jealous of how big he is as a rookie, and they are looking for reasons to be pissed off at him.

Harper is awesome

He looks like he is going to be a great great player, but there really is no reason for what he did yesterday. The Marlins were not being dicks about it at all. There was no reason to point his bat at their dugout and make a tiny thing into a much bigger thing.

Fuck Ozzie Guillen.

For what? This is a game of numbers and rules, whoever knows more gets the better advantage. Coaches have every right to get petty.

Also, that series with the Reds was no fun to watch, I've been busy all weekend and finally got to see a game last night and of course the bullpen gives it up. Blerg.

I thought we all knew this.

Greinke is gone. Thornburg is taking his spot on Wednesday, Greinke removed to "recharge battery."

In other words, deal in principal.

The Braves are going to be scary good. No way do they collapse in the 2nd half this year.

Is this real or just attempting a jinx? Boston looked scary good this time last season. Teams with names that start with "B" have a tendency to swoon at the most inopportune times.

No jinx at all. They are already really good and they are adding one of the best pitchers in baseball. Boston had no pitching last year, so their collapse isnt a huge surprise.

Brewers won 96 games and the division. When did they swoon?

If you're talking about last season, you're 50% wrong.

If you're talking about in general, you're 100% wrong.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton can block trades to four teams, major league sources told FOXSports.com: the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs.

It’s not known whether Upton would use the no-trade clause to block deals to those clubs. Often, players include high-revenue teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs in no-trade protection, thinking that those organizations are better positioned to offer financial inducements in an effort to convince the player to waive the clause.

Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers has said publicly that he’s willing to listen to offers for Upton, the talented 24-year-old who finished fourth in National League MVP balloting last year but has been booed at home this year.

Upton went 0 for 10 during a weekend series against the Cubs and is hitting .254 with no home runs in his past 17 games. Upton is under contract through 2015, so there’s no urgency for the Diamondbacks to trade him.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been viewed as one of Upton’s most serious suitors, but the clubs don’t have an obvious trade match. The Diamondbacks would like a long-term shortstop or third baseman, and the Pirates don’t have a player to match that need.

He is a baby and a melodramatic.

I'm sorry that your team was being handled by Strausburg Mr. Guillen. Harper didn't point the bat towards the dugout until AFTER Guillen started barking from the dugout the 2nd time.

Now maybe he did come out to bat the 2nd time with more pine tar on his bat than before after Ozzie's first mention. Maybe the wrong thing to do but I find it hilarious.

rules are rules. if the pine tar is above the stated level then he can be called out on it.

18 inches from the handle. A foot and a half. Clearly the ump didn't give a fuck. Cry baby Guillen couldn't let it go.

Guillen would not shut up about it. Overdramatic Ozzie.

"Yankees manager Billy Martin immediately protested that Brett's bat had more than 18 inches of pine tar. The umpires called Brett out and nullified the home run. However, league president Lee MacPhail overruled the umpires. MacPhail said that the pine tar restriction wasn't about competitive advantage, but economics. If too much pine tar was on the bat, pine tar would end up on the ball and render it unusable for play. MacPhail said that the umpires shouldn't have taken the home run off the board, but simply discarded the bat."

Who gives a fuck about pine tar?

I'm not even a fan of the Nats or the Marlins .... who cares.

The Pirates schedule is pretty favorable for the next 25+ or so games... Over that stretch we play the Rockies, Marlins, Cubs x2, Astros, Reds, Diamondbacks and Padres.

We can put ourselves in pretty good position if we handle our business over the course of this stretch.

Reds got it pretty easy, too.

In other news, No Votto in the lineup. Frazier batting in the 3 spot! Stubbs leading off, Cozart batting second. Pretty big shakeup.

Flubbs, Nozart, Down Goes Frazier (to AAA Louisville), DPhillips, Blose, Nowin, Crysley, Handawin (to the other team), Bronson Okayo.

There goes the win streak.

Just now looked at the lineup. Yikes.
