Whether he caught the very corner of the bag or not, it never should have been an issue. It's just the latest in a long line of awful baserunning mistakes by Torres this season. I hope they dump his ass this offseason.

Yeah, I think he's gone.

I remember the Ryan Church game, and I fucking lost it because it was so obvious he missed the bag. Here, I don't get it. The ump wasn't even in the right angle to see that, how was he SO SURE he missed the bag (which he really didn't?).

On September 3rd, Rackley was umpiring at first base during a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets. In the 9th inning, the Mets' Andres Torres led off with a double and represented the tying run. On appeal, Rackley called Torres out, despite replay showing that Torres did indeed touch first base. Speculation is that Rackley's visual impairment and lack of basic understanding of baseball rules played a role in his controversial and atrocious call.

Listening to Terry Collins postgame, he is pissed off. Said "I have 10 guys who saw him hit 1st base. Never seen a call like that before in a big league game."

Torres seems to be surprised during the interview, saying he thought he touched the base and he never thought that he was going to be called out.

The Cardinals commentators said they thought Torres touched the base, but were baffled why he didn't argue at all.

... very early reports from Sweeny Murti of the Yankees are saying Robinson Cano has "tweaked" his right hip and has some sort of injury. Trying to find out how serious it is.

Sumbody told Andy Martino of the NY Daily News that it was Carlos Beltran who told Mike Matheny to appeal call. He saw play while in the batting cage.

If I were going to do that I'd post a really inconspicuous title like "Lets discuss John Webers theorem on re-industrialization in a post modern word" then post porn, so I could see how long it took for a mod to catch on.

Holy shit, that's it. A GAF challenge: Post a thread where the OP is nothing but porn. If you can make it a week without getting banned/detected, you win.

Well, maybe we should test just how hidden MLB GAF is. One day, perhaps some porn gets posted. If we could trust MLB GAF not to snitch, I bet it could go undetected. I'm not publicly declaring intent... I'm just saying I bet it could go undetected.

Firing him now would be completely pointless, it's not like anyone else would do any better the rest of this season. As for next season... that'll depend largely on what they depend to do with the roster during the offseason.
