Reason I'm asking is this whole stupid fight seems moot lolThat settles it. I'm deactivating my 800 game Steam account and getting a lifetime subscription to Xbox Live

The more launchers it has the more it can be exploited, this thing will be cracked open like a tin of tuna within daysNot gonna happen. It will allow you to install steam client or epic. But it will be in the back end . You won't see anything. You won't have a browser and go there on your own. Just an app icon for you as a UI. It will go grab link and install it on its own without you seeing anything but probably a loading screen or download bar
Think of it as a very restricted windows PC you find in a library or a work company with a limited access to specific apps. But with Xbox app interface on top
I've been seeing the xbox warriors come out in full force being morons since this thing was announced. Apparently the xbox community is over 1.8 billion people now.

It comes down to building a library you have confidence that you'll be able to play down the line. Having a Steam account old enough to vote, the value prop on that gets higher for me every year. I didn't even consider it until fairly recently when I was debating on a launch PS5. Thankfully the hassle put me off. I was expecting a sequel to the PS4 first party output and wouldn't have had much use for it the way things turned out.Reason I'm asking is this whole stupid fight seems moot lol
Whatever it is, it's a device to funnel you to Steam to buy and play Steam games and Valve makes all the proceeds.
Microsoft can call it an Xbox if it makes them feel better about producing a device for Valve to run their store.
Most people call that a Steam Machine, though.

K KeplerL2 always defended and say Magnus/Helix was/is a custom Soc for a Xbox CONSOLE.KeplerL2 say no.
SneakersSO too?
MLID's contact is quite "relevant" or "reliable" regarding PS hardware.
But for the rest... I'm not sure.
A lot of people hung up over what its labeled as
A lot of people hung up over what its labeled as
I have told people it was going to at least run Steam for about 2 years now, most here that have paid attention knew that wasn't truly shocking newsIt's normal to be hung up about it, if you you have to lick MS ass everyday for a living
But you are right, the label means nothing
Running PC games/stores it's a fact though, already confirmed by MS a week ago
I still call it a console. You were hammering "it's a console" pretty hard yourself there bro

I think I'm blind. I wish Xbox would embrace dark mode in all of its apps like PlayStation.![]()
I'm been running my Nvidia powered Xbox Helix for a few weeks now. Tomorrow's next gen today!
Very possible. Everything I said is just my speculation. The more launchers it has the more it can be exploited, this thing will be cracked open like a tin of tuna within days
Yeh, it will certainly be interesting to see what MS does and what Sony and Nintendo do to react to it (if anything)Very possible. Everything I said is just my speculation.
Other possible solution is a dual boot. Either boot to Xbox or normal PC . But I don't see this happening to be honest. As this mean devs will make 2 sku for the same game. One for Xbox and one for PC and that is extra development MS want to cut
Not arguing that point with you (or anyone else) at allI know that...
Still
No console in the history of gaming has ever run contemporary Windows PC games/ports natively, let alone multiple game stores from supposed "competitors"
I still call it a console.
If it plays all my past Xbox games and plays GTA 6 the day this machine comes out and there isn't a PC version of GTA 6 yet, its a console
Edit - I was more referring to the same crowd that seems to want to force it to be labeled a PC
MLiD said:(kinda) a console
It's (kinda) confusing for no reason.
Microsoft need to get ahead of the messaging for this thing. By all indicators it sounds like a PC with an Xbox mode; so it's a PC.
Alright then. If it boots up and completely blurs the lines between console and PC then it's a hybrid device.Xbox mode for PC is just FSE for Windows. Completely unrelated, but obviously there are code that's being shared.

Certainly, I've never seen him show any obsession or stubbornness about what it should be called; rather, he's stated that it's a secondary issue for him, and he focuses more on the product itself (premium product, power, accessible game catalog, etc.).
The point is that the obsession and stubbornness over whether or not it should be called a "console" comes more from others, and in the vast majority of cases, those "others" are motivated by the reason we all know deep down.
Because look like it doesn't matter if it's designed as a console, in a console-like shape, with console-like features, if it offers a console experience, runs console games, back catalogs from previous consoles, and even it could also come with certain limitations of a console...
But eh!! In the end, what importance do those things have VS what the dictionary considers?![]()

Im sure they'll clear it up at some point, but MS has said they are releasing a console, if they do confuse things when they announce it then they haven't learnt a single thing (although that was likely Spencers doing to try and get a jump on Sony's Pro console by releasing the base and Pro at the same time.... It didn't work.... At all)It's (kinda) confusing for no reason.

The fact that there are arguments on both sides means that "hybrid" is also a useful term... yes.Well there are probably motivations for this being called a console as well. I don't get any of that, but that's how this stuff typically works. I'm not sayingHeisenbergFX4 is wrong at all, btw. Terms have gotten really loose when it comes to Xbox stuff so I'm trying to stay as much in the "wait and see" camp as I can.
As U Unfortunatecookie said, "hybrid" is probably the most accurate term.
You're describing one of their major selling points, the first device that will play your console and PC games. Everything that has ever happened (except for maybe the creation/existence of the universeI know that...

So, at this point, what should focus the user's interest is the proposal itself, not so much the definition.
As you say, there are still many things to learn and key points that are a big question mark and "wait and see" is a good position.
That said, if anything emerges from GDC and the information from the various MS/Xbox and Helix panels, it's that, in principle, the treatment, logistics, and infrastructure that MS is giving to Helix is very similar, if not identical, to that of a traditional console and even the current XS.
You're describing one of their major selling points, the first device that will play your console and PC games. Everything that has ever happened (except for maybe the creation/existence of the universe) has a "first time".
Considering we don't have access to a universe where there's another console with the same specification, I'm not sure how you are determining that it's going to cost double the amount than it normally would. The major selling point would be to pay double the price of a console to get a non-upgradable PC???
WOW
Big stuff
Considering we don't have access to a universe where there's another console with the same specification, I'm not sure how you are determining that it's going to cost double the amount than it normally would.
Also my guy, we don't even know how much it is going to cost.
Yeah that was a losing argument, I would have changed tactics as well.Like I said: worst of both words
It doesn't have either the convenience of a console nor the flexibilty of a PC
Yeah that was a losing argument, I would have changed tactics as well.
Ok.... What exactly does this have to do with the exchange we are having? The only loser here is Microsoft that is throwing away a base of 30M just because they "can't spend Sony out of the market"
So they are getting ready to print money for Valve instead....
LOL

It's so bizarre when you see those that somehow have made this PlayStation vs Xbox narrative apart of their personality. I would hope he doesn't actually believe what he's posting, and is just throwing bait out there for engagement.Delusion
