The problem with that is you'd keep Aldo on the shelf for at least 7 months if he has to wait for Zombie/Poirer. Giving him Hioki/Bartimus in May or June then Poirer/Zombie in the fall would be better for everyone.

Sadly, we're talking about the UFC. I wouldn't put it past them.

Featherweight is looking to be a lot of fun this year.

Why? That is a much worse fight.

Both lost to Forrest. Both are former UFC champions. Both are on the verge of retirement. Both are non-factors in the title picture. Both are free this summer. They have never fought each other.

Why not? That is way better than Tito/Forrest III. Can you pick a clear winner?

I think Forrest is about the best you are going to do for Tito. Its still not a good fight but you're not gonna find one for him because he sucks. Best case scenario would be him going away and never coming back.

Little Nog would be a more interesting fight for Ace I think.

Not that it matters to me since I just use user cp all the time anyways but hasn't this thread finally gotten enough heat to be stickied?

Ray "That Guy Who Fought Andre Arlovski" Lopez vs. Chris Price

lol

rumored fight for Tito's last stand:

Tito vs Forrest III
A perfect opportunity for Tito to go out on a win since Forrest hasn't seem to been training hard lately nor does his heart seem to be in mma anymore.

I'm having MMA withdrawal. They give us MMA every week for like over a month, then BAM - 10 days wait between events. Then after that, even longer. Fuckers.

With many of the old guard being ushered out and UFC pushing forward with trying to market new stars, I'm curious to hear thoughts on how many fights each of the fighters from the old guard have and if they are "UFC Hall of Fame" bound. Rank em if you could based on who is getting in the hall of fame and who isn't (based on merits, and not Poster Boy status). They are in order by age as of now.

Depends if they consider it the UFC Hall of Fame or the MMA Hall of Fame.

well since there's no MMA Hall of Fame, it would be UFC =/ I suggest providing your opinion based on merit rather than their UFC prestige.

Also, KenFlo is "done" but I don't believe he has officially "retired"

I can't rank that many. Put it this way though, I think if the MMA Hall of Fame was like the MLB Hall of Fame, the first balloters would be Dan Henderson, Tito Ortiz, Anderson Silva, and Rampage Jackson. I didn't go through the Others list yet, but that's who I would put on my "first balloters" list.

Before any of those guys I'd suggest Royce Gracie. A fighter that made UFC more technical than a drunken fist fight at a bar.

EDIT: Or is he already in it?

EDIT 2: Actually this has me wondering now - who is in the hall of fame?

Jesus fucking christ.

I just read about Diaz failing his piss test and testing positive for marijuana. I thought he won the fight, and he was robbed. But you know what? Fuck him. This is the second time he's done this, and when you sign a contract, you play by their rules. The dumbass should retire. He just so fucking ignorant sometimes. Don't like promoting the fight? Don't fight for the UFC. Don't like to not smoke pot? Stop smoking while you train. Btw, this is coming from someone who enjoys the plant himself, but it's totally within the right of the athletic commission and the UFC to dump his ass, even though they won't. He's really his own worst enemy.

From the top list, I'd remove Sherk and Lil' Nog.

Bottom list, I'd keep Shogun. Faber is borderline.

Well I am also interested in hearing what everyone has to say on how many fights each fighter may potentially have. I believe Matt Hughes has one fight left in him. Tito apparently has one more, too. Sherk probably has one, too.

shogun rua has better hof credentials than qrj. It aint even close.

I didn't include Shogun in the first list because Shogun has much more time on his hands with his age and fighting ability in comparison to Rampage. I believe Rampage is closer to retirement than Shogun, and thus, I put him in the original list rather than the others since I predict Rampage has 2-3 good fights left in him before becoming the next Tito.

I see your point. At the same time its stupid that its a ban substance. What advantage does one smoking weed give the opponent?

I would say you could persuade me on these two.

Yeah, if Sylvia makes his way back to the UFC after a more impressive win-streak outside of the promotion, he could see his way into the HoF if he was successful with his return.

I've seen all of your opinions on it, but I am excited for the Tito/Forrest fight.
I love Forrest Griffin and even if he may put on a boring fight, I still can't help but get excited during the build-up to it.

I also can't stand Tito Ortiz, so I will enjoy my daydreams about Forrest literally kicking Tito's head off of his shoulders and into the crowd. He probably won't even win the fight, with my luck, but he's the guy who got me into MMA and I can't help but root for him.

Did you watch their first two fights?

I don't remember the first one very well, except that I remember which bar I was at and arguing with my friend that I thought Griffin won. It was close. Actually, I don't remember the second one very well either.

The first fight was a bit before me getting into MMA. I started paying attention to MMA while in Korea in 2007 when a buddy showed me the Griffin/Bonnar fight.

I saw the second fight though. I don't remember much except for Tito trying to hype everyone up before-hand, about how he got his surgery done and it was the first time he felt 100% in years and it was the best Tito the world was gonna see. Then he lost and said some shit to Rogan during the interview about something being wrong with his neck or back or something, making excuses.

Brittney with dat girlfriend trolling:

The big day - for women - is just a few days away. Guys know it's get the job done or else on Valentine's Day.

Dave Farra did a nice job of rounding up several stars from both the female and male sides of the mixed martial arts world to get their takes on Feb. 14. This is refreshing to watch as we find out that some of the ladies aren't big fans of V-Day either.

...

Brittney Palmer gives advice to women saying the best gift for your man is a BP calendar or the March issue of Playboy magazine.

I'm looking forward to the PB pictures but honestly I don't see how anything can top that "Britney has a fat ass" video. That is just perfection.

I think that anything done in PRIDE should count since it was bought by the UFC and it's the only organization that was ever on equal footing with them.

Pat is absolutely a Hall of Famer for pioneering the "let's get a group of guys together and give them the same homogenized just win baby style" thing that has ruined the mixed martials.
