Dont really care to see Ben vs Frankie 2, thats a shame.
Would much rather see Ben vs Pettis 2 and Aldo vs Edgar even if he doesnt deserve the shot

Tired of Frankie getting all these rematches and completely stalling the 155 division. I guess they should have Pettis fight the winner of Diaz-Miller but then the winner of that will get hosed again if this one goes to another decision.

May is shaping up to be a great month.

And if Edgar is getting a rematch, then hopefully no-one gets injured this time.

Frankie is 30 already. With the kind of head shots he takes, I don't think he will be a top guy for much longer.

I don't really mind a rematch, but just let him fight Aldo before he's Zombie Frankie.

Holding up what? There's no contender lined up at 155.

Two weeks ago Pettis was all flash, no substance according to certain people here. Now Frank is holding him back from his long deserved title shot.

I wonder if Chael will keep trolling Brazil or just focus on Anderson.

I want the "American Gangster from Oregon" to come out to the Octagon dressed like Apollo Creed in Rocky IV.
Which would be appropriate for what Anderson will do to him.

Only if the music he comes out to is Living in America as well

and then when Sonnen wins he gives the speech Rocky gives after he beats Drago (Yes I know that Nate Quarry already did that. I don't care)

This card is blowing my mind right now.

5. Jamaine Facey vs. Willie Parks (185lbs)
6. Rodney Wallace vs. Derrick Mehmen (205lbs)

9. Deutsch Pu’u vs. Esteves Jones (265lbs)
10. Lionel Lanham vs. Brad Peterson (185lbs)

TITTIES

As a fan of both Bendo and Frankie, I am all for a rematch. Its well deserved because that fight was very tough to score. So many different ways to score that fight. Both guys are warriors and came to put on a show and fight.

I also tweeted Tim Slyvia just to get a cheap RT for the LULZ. I was never a fan of his during his reign. 2003-2006 had to have been the worst in terms of talent not only in the UFC HW division but in UFC in general. Looking at Sylvia's wins during that era and looking at who was in that division at the time you can make a case that it was full of tomato cans. All that division had during that time was Arlovski, Mir and Randy, who was pretty much a LHW. Arlovski left the UFC and has been doing awful. Bush league cans are keeping up with him. That only leaves Mir from that era thats good. All the early UFC HW's left for Pride and Japan that era like Severn, Frye, Coleman and Barnett.

It would just be interesting on how he stacks up now. He is 6-1 in his last 7 fights and like it or not he is the most successful UFC HW off all time at least on paper. The guy is not getting any younger and wants to finish his career in the UFC. He agreed for 6/6. Give the guy at least a prelim fight against Morecraft to start than if he wins have him fight Meathead. There is nothing to loose and its a win/win for the UFC. If he looses to Morecraft or Meathead Dana can bill them as fighters that beat the most successful UFC HW champion.

10. Brendan Schaub (8-2)

Schaub seemed to be narrowing in on a title shot prior to his surprising upset loss at the hands of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in Rio de Janeiro this past August. “The Hybrid” will return to the cage April 21 at UFC 145 in Atlanta, where he will take on another heavyweight looking to recover lost hype in Ben Rothwell.

Other contenders:
Fedor Emelianenko, Mark Hunt, Cole Konrad, Mike Russow, Antonio Silva.

He's a comin'

Hail to the KING baby
It's kind of strange to talk about how the HW division used to be so sad. That thing is such a joke. Tank could probably make the top 10 these days.

I actually more or less agree with Sherdog's assertion that Hatsu Hioki is a number 2-4 contender in the featherweight division. I thought he looked way overrated in his split decision debut, but seeing him tool Bartimus for three rounds changed my mind about him.

I'm predicting Chan Sung Jung, Hatsu Hioki & Dustin Poirier as Aldo's next three opponents. In that order.

Unless Frankie Edgar gets tooled by Henderson like Cerrone did in the WEC rematch, then he'll move down to featherweight. I don't know if it will happen, but it would be funny. Henderson/Cerrone I was actually close, while the rematch was a domination. Funny thing about Cerrone, if he's going to lose he'll do so in spectacular style. Odds don't look good for Edgar to go down like that, but a man can dream.

WW is terrible at the moment. What an overrated division.

Is it crazy to say that besides LW that MW and HW (esp when the Strikefore guys come over) are the most stacked or will be within the next year or 2?

Lets assume Hendo retires within a year and Rampage is gone. We only have Machida, Shogun, Lil Nog, Evans and Bones. Guys like Gus are unproven and who knows if Mousasi will get a UFC contract. Bader and Davis will never be on the level of a Machida or Shogun.

MW can have the deepest talent pool. I would say that technically 50% of WW and 75% of LHW can fight at MW.

FW is improving at the moment wiith likable fighters like Hioki, Korean Zombie, Koch and lets say Aoki gets a UFC contract and fights FW.

BW/FLW are pretty meh and probably always will be as these guys are waaaaay too small to be marketable. The fights will be entertaining nonetheless.

Fedor said:
Of course, I want to compete at home, in front of my countrymen,” the Last Emperor stressed. “But at the moment, the strongest and most respected MMA organization is situated in America. It’s the UFC. Therefore, I have to go to the US in order to face the strongest opponents.

Would be fun if he did join the UFC and went on a Mark Hunt-esque winning streak.

What the hell did Schaub do to be in the Top 10? I don't believe that neither Gonzaga nor Mirko were highly ranked when he fought them.

I think Fedors decline is way too overblown. Im calling that fight with Werdum a fluke. Just like Mir/Lesnar 1. He only legit got beat down by Bigfoot, which was competitive in the 1st round. The Hendo fight can be argued as an early stoppage, if not than there is no shame loosing to Hendo, dude hits harder than any HW in thr UFC anyways. Fedor still beats Mir, Carwin, Cain, Nog and maybe JDS. People love hating on the guy.

When you have a win streak like Fedor had anything else looks horrid in comparison.

I think after he's tied down his third win to regain the confidence he lost in his Strikeforce era of shame he'll be ready for some entry-level UFC contention.

True dat.

I don't see Fedor beating JDS or or Overeem, but I think he matches up well vs. Cain, and would most likely beat Mir, Carwin, and Nog (again).

That is, of course, if Fedor fights like he did in his last 2 fights (and his PRIDE career), that is to be patient and calm, instead of a wild brawler.

Fedor is still one of the best grapplers at HW, and he has really good kickboxing.

At least Fedor openly admits that UFC has the best talent, maybe that's a sign of good things to come.

Don’t Call Jon Jones “Cocky”, It Really Hurts His Feelings

“When I was, like, 20 years old, I had this voice-mail message that said, ‘Hi, this is Jon Bones Jones, the light heavyweight champ.’ I was speaking it into existence and carrying myself like I was the champion way before I was even in the UFC. It’s crazy that it all played out. I want to change our sport with something positive, to brighten up people’s lives and get them to look more on the positive side about every little thing… Sometimes I look back, and I want to be rude to people who didn’t believe in me. But that’s not what I do. I try to treat everybody with love. But when I go home now, to the people who treated me like a loser, I’m, like, the hero of our whole town. My road wasn’t easy, by any means. That’s why when people call me cocky, it’s, like, the biggest blow I can get. It’s like, ‘It’s not me! I’m sorry I’m coming across that way.’ I don’t think I’m better than anyone. I heard this story once of this football player who, whenever he scored, just handed the ball to the ref. And I thought that was really cool, like, ‘This is what I do. I score touchdowns.’ I wasn’t trying to be cocky or anything, but that’s what I was thinking: ‘This is what I do. I defend my title.’ ”

I'll say the Werdum fight is a fluke, but he got sat on by Bigfoot and couldn't do anything(at least according to my recollections of the fight). As for Hendo I still felt Herb Dean called it early, but that might just be the fan in me.

I do like that he has been calm is his last two fights and picking his shots and such.

Nice card. I'm really interested in Paul Sass and if he's Damian Maia 2.0
