Yup same thing happened when I was at UFC 117 in Oakland when Fitch was "fighting" Alves.
The fans were nice enough to provide us with a fight to watch outside of the cage when there wasn't one taking place inside of it.

So apparently, Alistair Overeem applied for a license from the NSAC this morning to fight JDS. This should be interesting.

I would say he has to be. Fought top level competition from the beginning, won the title and is the biggest PPV draw in the sport's history.

I wouldn't mind Werdum for the whole revenge angle and all, but let's be real. Mir would step in the octagon and get KO'd in the first, EASILY. Hunt has a better chance of being competitive due to the way their styles match up. Fuck a ranking.
As crazy as it sounds, Hunt stylistically is the best potential match-up for JDS, and might be the only guy on the roster that has a real shot to win.
Plus say if Hunt wins, and Cain beats Mir, Uncle Dana can have his mexican golden boy sugar cain velasquez back as champion if he faces Hunt. I'd figure Cain would be the favorite in that match since he will be able to wrestle Hunt. Then they can setup a JDS/Cain rematch. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities.

Sure, I think it'll be a competitive fight because of how their styles match up (I can see Hunt winning with JDS' awful defense), but I hate when people get unwarranted title shots.

Wasn't MMAGAF giving Fedor shit for fighting Mark Hunt? Using that to discredit his legacy? Yet now everybody is begging for JDS to fight Hunt.
At least Fedor fought Hunt when he was a top ranked fighter.
MMA didn't evolve, not the HW division at least. Junior Dos Santos and Brock Lesnar being champion proves that.

Yes, and I'm sure they now see the error of their ways. Hunt winning the strap would really put a cherry on top.
It doesn't discredit the HW division, it just proves how little the HW division has "evolved".
Everybody uses that reason as to why former greats failed to acquire glory in modern MMA (Cro Cop, Fedor, Nogueira), ignoring the real reason: ageing and declination.
I really don't see how Junior Dos Santos or Cain Velasquez are much different than Fedor and Cro Cop.
Then there's Brock Lesnar, the one-dimensional wrestler with no striking ability at all, and minimal JJ, who managed to not only take the UFC belt, but defended it twice.
I dunno, if I see Mark Hunt get the title shot, and give JDS a competitive fight, then I'll be really disappointed.
I don't see why. 38 year old Hunt's hands are more dangerous than Werdum and Mir's combined.

Yeah because Fedor getting his ass beat by a light heavyweight he's several years younger than in Strikeforce, who fought in the same division as him is proof of aging.
Seriously, why do you fucks have to ruin this? Mark Hunt isn't going to be considered an all time great, but he's a modern day Tank Abbott type fighter. A throwback to the old days of UFC, so he's interesting. He could replace a guy who's doing horse roids, when the only thing Mark Hunt does is hamburgers.
He's got a punchers chance, and him winning legitimizes Fedor no more than it "legitimizes" Melvin Manhoef or Sean McCorkle or any of the guys he lost to in his 6 fight losing streak.
It doesn't have to be read into any more than that, and once again Fedor is brought up for some reason when he has nothing to do with this. You wanna go talk about Fedor, go create a LttP 2005 thread on him and you can circle jerk with the rest of the Kool Aid drinkers about what washed up fighters and cans he beat, and how he himself was washed up even though he lost to a 40 year old LHW.

The argument doesn't work in reverse. If you're done in your early 30's, chances are, it's because the sport passed you by and you weren't really as good (or people thought as good) as they thought. Tito didn't get old, as much as his style was exposed as fighters got better and weren't going to let him GnP them.
Bringing up who Silva lost too years ago when he would have crushed those guys at any point thereafter doesn't mean shit, he was basically an amateur compared to where he is now. He evolved, others like Fedor didn't, and were exposed and people like you couldn't take it so give the 'aging' excuse, even though his fights showed he was outclassed (and outsmarted in Werdum's case) instead of an aging fighter who gassed late in a fight and couldn't keep up.
I miss when we can talk about 2012 fights instead of constantly comparing whatever happens now to a guy who hasn't done shit in 7 years.
PS - Hunt is like Abbott not in style, but the fact that fans root for a guy who likes to bang and take punches (ala Nelson as well) and doesn't fit the mold of an atheltic versatile fighter that are dominant in today's MMA

We were fine talking about Mark Hunt here in 2012 before you trying to make some irrelevent tie-in to Fedor when Hunt was "really in his prime" or whatever bullshit that is. You brought it up, no one else. People just want to see an underdog with a strikers chance fight for the title instead of seeing slow ass Mir or a rematch with Cain right now. That has nothing to to with Fedor, now or then. I mean, Dana could easily just pick another guy on the undercard in Big Foot who beat Fedor to a bloody pulp if that's what mattered, but it doesn't, and no one wants to see that fight.
And nice strawman there about who you think I like. At least I respect most of those guys, and Henderson is one of my favorite fighters. Mainly because he doesn't need excuses about how old he is to put on a good fight and be competitive, instead of getting run from the B leagues and taking circus fights like a guy six years younger than him.

I'll be damned if Mark Hunt's run gets ruined because of this. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get the shot, this is exactly the reason. Dana doesn't want to hear about Fedor any more than I do, and I'm sure in 2012 he doesn't want to hear about how an almost .500 fighter who lost to Fedor six years ago has the strap.
So when you're sitting there wondering how and why you just saw Struve getting KO'ed by Cigano in 5 seconds and why Huntu didn't get the shot, you'll know who to blame.

That's crazy. Contre said at age 30 it just drops 1% per year. He said he's never seen a "clean" athlete need TRT though, it's always the ex roiders that need it because their endocrine system is fucked up.
That's interesting, didn't know that. If true, yet another reason why TRT shouldn't be tolerated if roiding isn't.

My nephew is on it because he has tiny balls syndrome. His doctor is seen by a lot of professional athletes from Cali. He's met some fighters, NFL players, and a baseball player in the waiting room.
