If we're all armchair what does that make Jackson after the Guida fight. The Stairmaster trainer?

I was the first in line to applaud Gray tha Gawd for saving the sport from that bullshit. Does that mean you know fuck all about training compared to him?

To think Greg is the only guy who would advise against that fight is pretty ignorant. Guys like Chael have everything to gain where as Jon has everything to lose.

As someone who didnt buy a ticket, the only thing you're losing as a fan is 3 extra weeks of waiting time and a shitty undercard. Boo hoo son.

Jones would have everything to lose, when his buyrate would have been bigger than fighting Belfort, and even if somehow Sonnen hit the TRT hard enough to lay on him for 5 rounds - Jones would get an immediate rematch with even more money in that fight?

Shit, wish I could lose that hard to at worst, fall ass backwards in several million dollars. Oh, and not to mention, doing a favor for a company that spared my ass from a DUI where if the same shit happened to an NFL player you could expect a fourth of your games and salary gone at least.

Dana spared his ass, if his brother did the same shit, Goodell would have his ass strung up for millions.

Natch is mad he missed out on a Chael Sonnen fight. That's a good one. You would've bitched just the same if the fight actually happened. I guarantee it.

I don't really care anymore, since this discussion is going as circular as a Clay Guida gameplan. Let the truth of your beloved trainer be shown though, when he infects Jones with his virus so thoroughly that he can only decision a middleweight that Anderson destroyed in a matter of minutes.

Let's cut the bet short to whether or not Bones will finish Victor then.

Nobody has yet to explain to me why a fighter needs ANY notice if both fighters are getting the same amount of notice. Especially since JBJ is supposed to be this naturally gifted fighter. 8 days 8 years what's the difference if both fighters have the same prep time?

What? Is he writing a paper on 18th century agrarian society in England? No. He's punching people in the face. Before anyone says I have no reference, I was a old school sparring partner for PKA kickboxers in the late 80's and early 90's. Yes I'm old.

JBJ is not a fighter. He should find a job behind a desk with Greg Jackson telling him how to file his papers. I hate all this ducking fighters nonsense. Legacies are not built by having a perfect record. Name your favorite fighter. Do you like them because of wins vs. losses? I hope not.

Complete and utter bullshit. Name another champion that has had as many top fights in such a short title reign.

You can't. Jones the "non-fighter" took on all comers and defeated them all pretty handily. Why? Because he's stupid and goes into fights unprepared? The amount of notice for this fight was short, and the variance in fighter he was going to face was large.

Yeah...let's all criticize a guy for making a smart career decision. He agreed to fight at the next ppv, so the claims that he's afraid to fight are impossible to substantiate. He simply didn't see the Chael fight as smart on that short notice. Who are you to second-guess him? You must be the world's biggest badass who takes on all comers, right?

These guys fight for their livelihood, and by all indicators, most fighters gets kinda screwed by the UFC. Why hate on the best champ of the last handful of years making a smart move to protect his livelihood? If he loses and gets demoted shortly thereafter, are you going to label him a hero or just brush him off as a can?

The amount of people slurping Dana's bs is pretty funny, but not completely unexpected. I'd say the same thing no matter who the fighter, because these guys owe the UFC nothing. They are the show. Without the quality of fighters we get, the UFC would be no better than backyard brawls, and would still be obscure. Jones was sponsored by the UFC because he's good, not because he's some martyr for the rest of the roster.

How can so few of you see how shitty the booking was in the first place. There are injuries all the time. This is the first time a ppv gets cancelled, and it's not because one fighter didn't want to take a fight. It's because the card was terrible outside of that one fight. It's not Jones' fault they have him carrying garbage cards. PEACE.

I predict either Vitor by ko in 1st, or JBJ takes to mind numbing decision and becomes the least popular champ since Timmay.

I feel like I said this already but I can't remember shit right now.

So I can't hold you to something you typed minutes prior? Okay friend lol

Screw it, I'll do it. The difference is, I'm not doubting Jones ability, just the fact Jackson is THAT bad of a trainer that he will eventually turn him into a decision machine. He did it to GSP, he fucked Clay Guida up, so there's no doubt he will do it to Jones.

I'll do it, and I'll even put up my thread posting for the rest of the year.

If you remember, I had the balls to do this before with Silva over Sonnen and you wouldn't bet me on a simple avatar bet at the time.

So, you're on. I'll put up my thread posting in here that Jones won't stop Vitor.

Honestly, as much as it is Dana/UFC's fault I think that Jones could out match Sonnen anyday of the week. It just comes off as such an odd thing that a person of his skill level would not accept a fight against what I would consider is a fighter that is not even within his range, considering Sonnen would've been heavier, less trained, etc, etc.
And yes Arianny is so much better than her peers at carrying a round card around a cage. Clearly superior.
If only she had a butt to complete the ensemble. :(

I didn't bet you on Sonnen because it was trolling lol.

I don't want you to stop posting or anything, just the avatar bet. Lets make it valid until Bones finishes someone if I lose, and until Bones decisions someone if you lose. Deal?

Looks like I'll be going to the Titan Fighting Championships show is St Louis next month to support Dustin Jacoby. Then the next night I'm judging another amateur show. Should be a good time all the way around.

Haha, sure! I made some corrections in that thread! But I can elaborate! When is the next occasion for nerd chat?

Maybe Keen will.

Hey, I was nice and showed him a good time! I even brought up Yaco's untimely demise, but I think the hint went unheeded!

Asian girl was passed the fuck out, and thus occupied, and Swedish girl was no go (I know her well), and also slightly crazy. I posted pics in that other thread!

But still, I hang my head in shame.

Does anyone know what frontrowbrian is going on about? Did Dana make a hint at a Brock/Fedor fight?

The Dog Stars. Quick, easy, and highly entertaining Post-Apocalypse book. :b

Interesting, will probably buy it the next time I bulk buy from Amazon.

Thanks for the recommendation Boetsch.

Jones stepped in for Rashad on a months notice, not 8 days. Jones is more than willing to fight anybody the UFC wants him to fight with proper notice and prep time, hence him taking the Vitor fight. This part seems to go over everyone's head.

sorry I went to bed after posting link.

Can we for the love of god please stop perpetuating the myth that Jones was asked to take a fight on 8 days notice?

Jones was already scheduled and prepared to fight that night..he was asked to change opponents on short notice.
Its a world of difference and everyone here knows it.

Chael accepted the offer to fight on 8 days notice..
Shogun and machita both rejected the offer.

Rashads break down as to why he should have accepted the fight is salient and practical. The UFC has been extremely good to him in the last year..and he turned around and said..SO?..I'm bigger then the Promotion is now.Its all on my terms now...it was a shitty move.

To fight a guy with the same fucking style, no less, and one who is arguably less dangerous because he doesn't have that right hand.

Rashad's point about JBJ costing a lot of guys pay days is true. But for those same guys, I think the message that Dana sent to them is that he and Silva don't have any faith in those guys that anyone wants to see them and would rather cancel a show than let them carry it. That they intentionally created a one fight card and filled it with cheap, completely expendable guys who were just there as filler before the main event. To me, that's pretty insulting on top of missing out on a pay day. I wonder how that makes those guys that their bosses would rather kill a show because they know no one wants to see them, and booked the card intentionally that way.

I do not disagree that the blame for the cancellation of the event is purely the Brass that run the UFC..they put together such a weak card it couldn't survive the loss of the main event. Thats a different discussion then what I was saying bout Rashads comments on why Jones should have accepted the fight.

New GSP shirts on UFC.com, look like old GSP shirts......expect GSP to also come out with some sort of new training video then announce his official return in the coming days.

Wow at AA walking so quickly through a crowd of Filipinos. He should be more careful, could have bumped his chin against the top of their heads and KOed himself. Also did one of the photographers say "take it off, hurr hurr hurr."

I love videos where there's a really bright light flashing right in the middle.

I still can't get over the fact they've booked nine fights without a single Chinese fighter. Especially if you believe the UFC marketing spin that the entire point of the card was to establish a beachhead (of sorts) to the Chinese market.

Unless of course at the last minute they add a rush of Chinese fighters to Facebook prelims or some shit.

I'm still considering going to the event though. Anyone know anything about where/when I can buy tickets?

The lack of Chinese fighters so far is definitely a bit odd, but I would definitely go if I could. The card is shaping up to be really good

Congrats on the new baby boy Heel:

The World Series of Fighting has been granted a promoter’s license in the state of Nevada.

Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission, confirmed the news to Sherdog.com on Tuesday. Kizer also verified that the WSOF has requested to host its first event on Nov. 3. MMAWeekly.com first reported the development on Monday.

The Las Vegas-based promotion formed last October, though the organization’s debut has since been delayed. Former K-1 standout Ray Sefo is expected to serve as the promotion’s president, and events will be held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. While sources told Sherdog.com this past spring that the WSOF was expected to debut with an eight-man lightweight tournament, that plan has not been officially announced by the promotion.

The organization did, however, announce plans to air its events on the NBC Sports Network -- formerly known as Versus -- in its written request for NAC approval regarding its Nov. 3 event. Kizer told Sherdog that the request will be placed on the commission’s September agenda. The WSOF is also expected to reveal more specifics about the event at a press conference in the coming weeks, according to a source close to the promotion.

Do you live in Asia too?

You didn't see his Pro Elite debut?

Arlovski barely scraped by a LHW who had a 6-2 record.

If Sylvia doesn't put him away in the first round I'll be surprised. And if Arlovski wins then I want a rubber match (lol.)

How many UFC cards would survive the loss of its main event? We rarely ever see a situation where one of the two fighters in the ME won't accept a replacement.

Has anyone who was a champion at the time in the modern UFC fought a different opponent on 8 days notice for the belt?
