We know how the whole "He trains with GSP" thing works on Bellator...

Just a reminder for y'all of the start time for UFC on Fuel:

Facebook Prelims - 10:45am/1:45pm PT/ET
Main Card - 1/4pm PT/ET

Oh and that's from the UFC's Facebook page. The UFC's official Facebook Page states the Best Coast Time first, friends. Hold that.

Bautista's original opponent was Rashid Evans, whose main claim to fame is that his name would be easily confused with one of the biggest stars in the sport. He was given the lottery ticket of being someone who had never had a pro fight, but was going to get to headline a pay-per-view. The downside is that Evans was incarcerated, but according to trainer Phil Dunlap of Advanced Fighting Systems in Mahwah, N.J., they were able to get him released based on the fact he was given this opportunity.

According to Dunlap, Evans violated the terms of his probation, when caught driving without his license, and then panicked when police tried to pull him over. He's back in jail and won't be out until after the fight.

Come in nerd chat for the Facebook prelims bright and early at 10:45am BCT, they should deliver better than most FB prelims.

Going to put my picks together right now. If Pickett vs Jaboin isn't exciting I'll eat my hat!

EDIT: And here we go ...

FYI - the prelims are gonna stream on Youtube (which is usually a lot better than Facebook) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-ppzHgpIF0&feature=g-user-lss

All nighter. Get your drink on and then entertain us in nerd chat, industrian. What alcoholic beverages are popular over there btw? Sapporo Beer?

Regarding beer, Taiwan Gold Medal Beer is the best East Asian beer I've had so far. NT$50 (US$1.70) for 660ml. Sapporo and Asahi are more expensive. The cheapest stuff is probably Bar Beer and Tsingtao. For some reason Busch is pretty popular over here. You can buy it everywhere. Never tried it myself.

As for non-beer drinks, occasionally I'll buy some Scottish whisky for a taste of home. With the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival right now you can get it cheap too (and if you find your local Chinese and Korean restaurants mysteriously closed for the next few days it's because of this festival too.)

I don't want to drink that much due to having to go to hospital on Monday for blood-work and x-rays... but I guess a couple of beers won't hurt. :p

Originally from Scotland are ya?

Yup, moved to Asia in 2009.

Unrelated: I wish I could buy singles here in PA. If I want beer I have to buy a whole case. :(

One of my friends in NJ told me about the rather "absurd" alcohol sales restrictions in his state (not sure if the rest of the USA applies.) When I told him I could buy beer in petrol stations, supermarkets, convenience stores, etc in the UK he took it as a shock. You can only buy alcohol from one of those stores from 10am-10pm though.

But Asia has a better viewpoint in alcohol sales. You can pretty much buy it from anywhere at anytime and even drink it anywhere and anytime without any repercussions (unless you're obviously drunk as fuck and/or making a scene.) Unless you're in Korea of course, they appreciate the fine art of getting hammered more than pretty much anyone else on the planet. Finding full-suited businessmen at 5am sleeping on a park bench after a drinking session is one of the most common sights there.

Yeah PA and NJ have ridiculous laws regarding alcohol sales. We're two of only about 6 or so states in all the US that can only buy beer from beer distributors and only within certain hours. The weird part about it is that's part of a relic of blue laws to keep people from drinking too much but in actuality we probably drink more because we can't buy singles or 6 packs or 12 packs - we have to buy cases of 24 or more. Also, in PA our liquor can only be purchased from State operated liquor stores.

EDIT: The one backwards law NJ has that PA doesn't however (thank God) is that people aren't allowed to pump their own gas there. Only professional attendants are allowed. It's really fuckin weird/annoying.

I find this rather weird, especially coming from the haven of socialism and overreaching nanny state that is Scotland (as in: our government would never in a million years try to control alcohol sales by taking direct control of distribution.)

Wouldn't a monopoly like that trigger the "unconstitutional" argument or at the very least a "the government is barring us from free enterprise" complaint? That and wouldn't there be a million lawsuits against the State by victims of alcohol abuse (considering that the state is the only provider?)

Considering that I've never seen any petrol stations in the UK (or Europe for that matter) that have people manning the pumps instead of doing it yourself, I find the idea of someone being paid to man the pumps quite bizarre. When I see it done in Asia it comes across as more of their customer service culture than anything else. But still it's quite jarrying. And from a business POV I'd never pay someone to do something that the customer can do themselves.

I'm guessing this is a health & safety regulation or something.

I believe it is a job preservation thing.

It's funny that you mention singles because when I buy groceries after work, I always see older men buying 1 beer with 1 iced tea drink. They mix that shit over ice. I know cuz my grandpa does it.

Beer + ice tea?

I know a bunch of old guys who drink whisky + milk.

Well I did not realize this. Looks I'll be missing the majority of this card.

I'm not really a beer or iced tea drinker, but ya, it's not bad. My grandpa is retired and will nurse these drinks all day, so his rationale is that it's less alcohol that he's consuming.

So glad FB prelims are early. 2.5 more hours? I can be up for that.

Before we move on from the subject of beer, I'd like to present to you my choice of poison for the night:

Q47tW.jpg

It's the first time I've ever seen Bar (cheapest of the cheap beer) in a bottle and I'm curious as to how it tastes. The cans are fairly decent for cheap beer - waaaaaay better than non-Gold Medal variety of Taiwan Beer.

I just ate a big bowl of Haagen-Daas lemon 5 ingredients and raspberry truffle ice cream for breakfast. I think this was probably a mistake.

I just saw a commercial for "UFC on Fuel TV: Struve vs. Miocic" and the soundbites they used for the main event were just awesome:

Struve: "I'm part of the new generation of fighters."
Miocic: "I've always wanted to compete at the highest level."

so riveting
