It was amusing to see his desire for vengeance become a endless quest to belittle his master's sacrifice.
But Iok the Brave never left us.
To be fair, while I was firm in my dislike of Mika back then, I did so because I accepted the notion that they had no choice. It's the 'one last big score' mentality, just do this job and be set for life.
Then S2 rolls in and Tekkadan is not out of the game, reveling in playing people and shooting them without due process and sympathy went out the window.
Said it a few pages back.

I think it's less to do with his piloting skill and more with setting up Ein as the literal ghost for Tekkadan's sins coming back to haunt them.
Plus, the boy was tenacious AF. Not even death can put him down, you gotta respect that.

While it's fair to criticise her, in a minor defence of Kudelia
- A) she acknowledged the blood she has on her hands, and
- B) what little socio-economic improvements came to Mars of the back of Tekkadan's achievements were all a result of her.
She is the one that gave Tekkadan a motivational aspiration
to fight for beyond making money and a name for themselves in S1.
Without her, they could have ended up as just another merc group fighting for the promise of riches down the line, with no real objective and losing comrades along the way... which sounds a lot like S2 to me

I don't think it's just that (rgere's many branches to his incompetance that's separate), more that he's just as fanatical about his men as they towards him which gathers people around him when they're putting their lives on the line either way.
Everything to do with the turbines was just completely different brand of incompetance.

Bael is p sexy, I'll probably pick up the HG at least at some point.
I'm not really rooting for anyone but barbatos, I just want to see how this plays out.
And sure none of them are 'angels' but out of the factions in the fight I'd say tekkadan are probably by far the lesser evil.
And by default, of you're not rooting for the murdering war slave street orphans over all the other shitty organisations in this I really have to question your morality.
I'm guessing they'll betray chocoman.
I've heard tons of good things about Utena, I want to watch it someday but it's got sooo many episodes.

A bit late, but Lafter deserved better than to be killed off by B-class side-villain Jasley. Naze and Amida should have been sufficient for that plotpoint to resolve itself, Jasley's death wasn't even satisfying because he was so unremarkable.

AEUG had Wong who represented Anaheim that profited out of supplying both sides of the conflict with arms.

...continuing the theme of off model art, I went to the website and some of the profile pics are hilariously derby.
I feel like the have to be trolling with some of these, though to be fair the last guy did genuinely look derpy anyway.
On a more serious note, thinking more about what drives McGillis, I find it hard to believe that if he seriously told them he wanted to reform Gjallarhorn, Gaelio and Carta wouldn't have joined him.
- He himself would have inherited the Fareed seven stars position,
- Had further political power links through marriage to Almiria
- Gaelio would have inherited the Bauduin position
- Carta would have been head of the Issue position (and apparently the most powerful f the families).
- thats 3 out of the 7 families with one of them being the most powerful of the 7.
So why betray instead of gaining the assistance of people who have been friends with you since childhood? On the surface of it, the obvious answer is impatience and opportunities that Tekkadan's arrival offers (plus the bonus chance of screwing over his father). But after digging more into his backstory this week, I believe that what really underpins it is that he wants to keep everyone and everything below him.
To steal a couple of reddit comments:
These stuck with me, because while i don't agree that he resented them for their wealth / positions (the opposite seems to be true and he seemed to actually like them) - its clear that his past has lead to him desiring power. I suspect that what is motivating him subconsciously is that he wants to keep everyone below him. Therefore, despite being longtime friends and likely supporters, Carta and Gaelio had to go because they were his "equals" (and possibly superiors) in political authority/military influence.
Meanwhile Tekkadan will never be able to match him in political/military influence - perhaps in direct military conflict (brute force) but this is negated A) by having them as allies who are dependent on him, B) gaining Bael.
This adds another factor into why Bael is so valuable to him. It obviously confers the "he who so ever shall draw Excalibur from the stone shall be King ofGjallarhorn England" aspect. But additionally represents to "top" of Gjallarhorn, their worlds most powerful/influential organisation, and mythically their most powerful Alaya-Vijnana driven mobile suit.
It fulfils his subconscious need to have everything (and everyone) below him in (political) authority, (military) might, and (his own physical power) brute force.
EDIT: yeah...
...that costume design of Iznario looking like a priest takes on a whole other connotation in light of recent episode.
DOUBLE EDIT: ...yeah and episode 11 when we first see Iznario and he asks if McGillis is able to take time off to come home & McGillis refuses... that has a whole other connotation to it now as well.
I feel like the have to be trolling with some of these, though to be fair the last guy did genuinely look derpy anyway.
I also still believe they are fully trolling us with those long ass names for Akihiro's gundams and its main weapon being a pair of giant bolt cutters.

Gundam Vidar has done fuck-all all season and its being dismantled into its "real" form....which is another version of the Kimaris (god the purple is butt ugly).
In other news, Macky's plan basically has done absolutely zilch. Its ends up just being Macky + Tekkadan vs the Arianrhod Fleet since everybody else can supposedly remain neutral lulz.

That was a huge build-up-to-final-battle episode. But clearly this isn't the end. So... what's going to happen next week? The preview is pretty evasive. People are going to die for sure, things are not going according to plan. Is McDonalds going to die? Probably not. Is Orga going to die. Maybe. What will happen to Tekkadan? What will happen to Mika? Dum dum dummmm.
