It needed a heavy / high density weapon to counter Barbatos' mace. And it needed the same in a sword to counter the two swords thr Bael models have been shown with.
Not sure how I feel about the leg designs (are those drills coming out of the top?). In general though, it seems like it's might be more suitable for closer combat than the hit&run jousting of the previous Kimaris models.
Though can't shake the feeling that it's armour looks bulkier and would be less manoeuvrable than base model Vidar was. And while I know the Kimaris colours are meant to signify that it's Gaelio re-embracing his identity, I still think Vidar paint scheme > Kimaris

Mika and Atra scene almost made me tearing up. It's not a typical Gundam romantic scene but it's so perfect, especially with the ending song in the background.

I still prefer base Vidar, but I'll admit that i'm warming up to it. I'll need to see it in motion and its performance before I can accept it as a worthy replacement though.

I'd thought that the large blunt lance was an anti Barbatos mace or anti-ship weapon.
Then I realised that it's rotational drill is probably to counter someone grabbing the tip like we've seen before. So I guess that should make it better for MS combat than the previous lances were, but we'll see...

Never painted any gunpla i've had before, but I made some quick and dirty photoshops of Kimaris Vidar to have a more "Vidar"-like paint scheme... I think I'm gonna have to get a 1/100 and see if I can pull it off. Couldn't decided if I liked black side skirts or blue ones more though...

Just started watching this. Marathoned S1 and it was so good. Just started S2. I don't have high expectations because Sunrise.
One thing I do really like about the world-building is the existence of companies with their own militias and companies with the sole purpose of being militias. Money being the prime objective of many of the characters are so much better than 'reasons'.

Any plans for an IBO MG line? I'm getting the 1/100's anyway, but there's still a big gap in quality between the ungraded IBO kits and actual MG ones. The HiRes Barbatos seems nice, but it's too rich for my blood.

Vidar just has a really good no-nonsense colour scheme. It's cool without being too flashy and "intimidating" without looking malevolent/antagonistic like that spiker one pictured above. I get what they are doing in having Gaelio reclaim his identity but its a shame to see Vidar disappear & this seems like a good way to keep it alive I guess.
Anyways I'm pretty sure I've convinced myself to actually try this, so I'm hoping a 1/100 FM comes out soonish as Shun says. Been a while since I built anything though...
btw IBOGAF - black side skirts or blue ones? (I'm leaning towards blue for now.)
I look forward to waiting until the 10th anniversary of IBO for MG kits,
