Gamers are far more out of the loop than I had previously thought.

yup, I'm also getting the 360 version for the 13 year olds calling me the n wordRorschach said:This is what people don't understand. PC is all graphics (yawn), but the 360 version will be an experience. You can play a game (with inferior controls and a small screen) or you can experience an adventure. Your choice. And the graphics on PC aren't even noticeable. FPS and pixel counting? Who's gonna be doing that? I guess bored PC "gamers." I'll be too busy being immersed in the battlefield.

Games are not objective, or else I would prefer playing PC games if they are superior in all respects, as would everyone else. Even if I was the only person on the entire planet who didn't prefer playing PC games, my existence alone proves that it is subjective and not an objective quantity.
As for ease of use, PC gaming in my experience, across over 15 years and at least five separate PCs, has been anything but easy to use. Of course, it has become much worse in recent years, which is why I play with PCs less and less.
PCs and consoles have their respective advantages and disadvantages, both of which will influence us based on our personal preferences. One person likes the precision of a mouse and keyboard, the other finds it unintuitive and prefers something else.
What is a disadvantage to one person might mean nothing to another.
But one thing is certain: no input method can be objectively deemed to be superior.
Asmodai said:Dude, do you still fail to see the simple point in that a whole bunch of people(read:millions) don't care about the number of pixels, resolution, or any other technical jargon, so long as it looks good enough to them?
why is it that people forget that you can use a controller to play pc games?TheHeretic said:Steam has universally made PC gaming easier, I don't see how PC gaming was easier 10 years ago than it is today. Components were a lot more expensive and there was no unified system at all really until xfire, which was just a glorified friends tracker.
The level of precision with a mouse is objectively better than that of a controller. FPS games are just a showcase for this. You can argue for quite a few genres that controllers are superior, but not FPS games.

Hey, you'll probably hear that on the battlefield in real life. It's not gonna be like on PC where everyone's quiet because they can't afford 100 dollar PC mics, they don't know how to set them up, or their voice is too high pitched to be recognized by modern microphone technology.Guled said:yup, I'm also getting the 360 version for the 13 year olds calling me the n word

When did I ever say that I thought "speed" was all that mattered in PC games? Of course it isn't, there are many other factors. I said that I didn't like the control method personally, which is nothing like what you said.
Secondly, you just seem to be implying that I have no "skillz" in even the peasant filled public arena of PC games. I might have cared about that if somebody told me that I sucked at a game when I was 12 years old, but I'm far past that point now. (my retort would have been "No way! You suck!")
Honestly, are you actually wasting your time trying to tell me that I would probably suck at these super competitive PC games, if I played them, which I don't? That's pretty sad in itself, I almost feel sorry for you.

I can understand if you're not comfortable with how you're playing but all I heard was whining excuses that moving to another server to avoid hackers or going to a place where admins do their jobs, getting pc friends, and using a control style you like cold be fixed not hard to add controller support in. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you should be on pc but that any issue you listed could be fixed quite easily and really isn't indicative of how the experiences are for most users who like the platform.

I don't want to spend 10mins dicking about in the menus and connecting only to find its a rubbish room where as Live you can jump right in a get on with it.
Oh and ignore all the little bum fluffs running around on live with party chat, thats a godsend \o/

No! One must win!USD said:*shrug* I play console because the games I like are there. I really don't understand these threads, it's not hard to justify preferring PC or console (or taking option C and embracing both).
On TF2, I have played it on Live and every time I got into a game, it's like 12 or 16 players max (can't remember) and it's laggy. If I leave and try again, I usually get the same room again. Whatever matchmaking logic is coded in doesn't say "he left that room, maybe he doesn't wanna be put back in there." It just runs the same logic and gives me the same room.Johnlenham said:Personally about the servers ive allways found it a royal pain in the ass having to search for a half decent server (TF2 for example). Also, it's worth noting that Team Fortress 2 in particular was the game where I felt most like I was "clicking enemies to death". Other PC games, like Battlefield 2, have recoil, gun sway, and several other things that generally make it feel more like you are aiming the sniper rifle at an enemy, and less aiming a mouse at them. If you get what I mean.
I've never been interested in the hardcore side of games, whether on PC or consoles. A friend of mine plays Halo 3 at some kind of competitive level, that's pretty much all I know about it.
My experience is strictly what you might call the "casual" side, playing for fun and not caring about statistics and the like.
