Christ the lag has been aweful today! Not to mention pretty much every game had to migrate host. Annoying as hell.

I made a Custom Class Gunner....and now it's forcing me to rev the minigun before firing it seems. When I played regular generic Gunner, I could just hold RT and fire away.....now it seems like I have to hold LT first. Any thoughts?

Got a custom gunner too, didn't have any troubles.

Revving was never that big of an issue for me though.

Everything kills the Assassin in one hit, but not all my assassinations are one hit kills! :/

Everything doesn't kill the assassin in one hit if you have armor. All assassinations with the katana are one hit kills unless it is a tank or gunner who has the armor sponsor in the gold spot. Tanks are pretty much the only ones you can't always kill because they have so much health. I tend to stay away from them.

gg's tonight gaf, we beasted yet again in our party :lol

I love the game and also love approaching each arena differently every time to mix things up, playing as sniper and rushing in instead of base camping is extremely effective with ice mines and flak, a little too good if you want to spawn camp them.

only class I need to play and learn now is the assassin, i've been her once in a private match to try her out but never in a real crossfire or blitz game because there's always 2+ on my team.

I kind of dislike overtime because it's way too easy to win if you know what to do, the money ball should take less damage from pro's and juice attacks should be half of what they are on the money ball currently, a tank can juice and jet it completely in about 20 seconds :lol

Support is way too strong, air strikes while powerful should recharge at half their rate, throw 3 in a row and any turret will go down and right now you can do that like every 50 seconds, the firebase could be a tiny bit weaker in it's damage otherwise I think it's fine, shotgun has real low range but is deadly... but the worst offender is how easy it is to juice up by healing pros and bots, seriously I can juice every minute and that's without any juice endorsements on!

While the gunner is strong I think the tank is better, gaffers who have played with me have seen how good the tank can be especially the product bomb at level 3, can wipe out bots, stun jackbots, good damage to turrets and well it's the main skill to upgrade first imo.

I still think its great.

But the tank class is absolutely frustrating to play without teamwork and some games are REALLY laggy.

Strap on your hooker ...
Tank does just fine by himself. It does help a lot to make a custom class for him with Skill Recharge as your Gold sponsor, rapidly recharging your Dash and Adbombs helps him a ton.

Maybe the lag is caused by someone joining with a bad NAT? I don't see lag very often, but it's ugly when it happens. It happens VERY rarely, also. Most of the time, the connection appears flawless.

I must say, I really, REALLY enjoy this game! Love the personality, colors, animations, bits and pieces of music, and the stage design. The Night stage is probably my personal favorite, just because it has so many well-laid places for supports to make nice, dangerous homes in! XD

AND THANK YOU FOR 2 PLAY SPLITSCREEN ONLINE! Really wanted this in Transformers, as well. I love how well same-system Co-op play is handeled here. The best friends for gaming will always be those along side you. Also great to see guest can go online as well. I'm very thankful when devs add these features to games.

On the side of balance, everytime something feels a bit too powerful, I discover a strategy or build that levels the playing field again.

Except for that 5 Assassin team. THAT kinda just messed up everyone. They reached the moneyball, and made my team look like a bunch of chumps. And before that, front assassination, then back, smooth as clockwork, from person to person... it was a mess, but slightly mesmarizing to watch...

One of the most well-rounded, enjoyable TPS-style games around!

Here's a small hint to assassin players, from a support: your smoke bomb disables my turret. Only like 1 out of 50 assassins use this against me. Those other 49 die. :lol

The problem is staying alive long enough for the bomb to actually drop.

I am absolutely terrible with the Assassin.

To be fair, I was struggling with lag the rest of the night after I switched from Gunner, but still.

Anyone have any tips? Build order? Game plan after you pull off a successful back-grapple? Do you ever use the lunge?

The support health gun can be pretty good to kill if the shotgun range isn't enough. And feels so good seeing a player running from the health gun while you slowly sucks his health. :lol

Gunner is deadly, but I can see the benefits of the Tank now, he can kill bots more easily and the lack of any kind of bomb really hurts the gunner

I can tell you one thing, as a support I suffered countless back stabs when hacking or upgrading my torrets from the base, easy kill and basically no fear of lag.

Also seems like the most recurrent plan after back-grapple, is bailing out with the smoke bomb or run ability, and try attack enemies that are alone or try to be not noticed by the others, you can be killed during the grapple animation which sucks.

And don't take this as evidence, but yesterday an assasin aproached me, for the front, stupid move but he was using run, and I could see the dust from his footsteps without seeing him, maybe is not a good idea to use run when you're trying to kill someone.

I hope someone with more experience can help you build a custom assasin.

If anyone plays tank/gunner (I don't) I'd recommend spawning bouncers as much as possible. They are amazing distractions coming from an Assault/every other class. They can absorb a lot of fire

Yeah by far the best spawnable bot.

If you go over by the doors that the regular bots come from you will see a hologram much like the launching pads but instead is a robot. Give that a whack and special bots will emerge and their type is based on your class.

edit: It's $100 per spawn and there's a small cooldown.

Near your base by where the bots spawn there should be a little bot icon. Costs 100$.

Assault spawns the flying bots (can be annoying.. get a lot of assists from spawning them)
Tanks/Gunners spawn bouncers (great fodder)
Snipers spawn Sappers (useless because they die so fast imo)
Spys spawn Gremlins (kinda like the flying bots, get annoying to other players)
Support spawns Gapshot (great for taking down enemy defenses)

This is the best game to hit the SUMMER of Arcade. Limbo was great, but this have so much replay value. This game have me going crazy because: you have ability to upgrade your character on the fly, to build turrets that regenerate health and to shot that annoying Wal-Mart knockoff mascot.

I have notice there are a lot of Assassins and Tanks. I believe Tanks are GOD Tier. They have the proton pack. That pack does so much damage and it can heal the players and the turrets. We also cannot forget they can spawn Bouncers.

Assassin are just a cool looking character that the beginners want to play as. They are fast and stealthy, but no health. Three shoots from a Gunner, they are dead. I love the animations they have, but I think people need to pick up a different character before learning the Assassins.

Assault takes down tanks like its nobodies business.

Disables normal turrets for a few seconds too...you can actually put a pretty sizable dent in a turret (if not destroying it outright) by doing this, then going apeshit on it with the dagger/sword. If it's not dead by the time it comes back up, you can sprint away, then take another crack at it when your smoke bomb recharges. I can't tell you how many undefended turrets I have taken down with this.

Is there a good site yet that accumulates info or strategies for maps or classes yet? I've learned more about the classes and basic game mechanics from this thread more than I have from in game or the official site. I was hoping they'd have more class walkthrough videos by now too.

If you can browse thru the hordes of asses complaining/bragging, Gamefaqs boards are alright.

i am terrible also but i do have an answer for one of your questions. yes, i use the lunge. quite a bit actually. i use it to close the distance on someone or get away fast (if the smoke bomb is still recharging). don't forget you get a jump boost when you use the smoke bomb, but you probably already knew that.

edit: i usually try to upgrade my cloak and the basic one for the sword first. i love the cloak maxed out because it recharges when you stand still.

all of this is probably old news to you and i'm not a good assassin player but i just like trying to help people. if i am wrong about these i'm sure someone will call me out. an i actually hope they do. if i'm doing something wrong i want to know.

The Tank is awesome. He's faster at taking down bots, his charge gives him mobility and killing power, his fiery spin of death will kill any assassin without some kind of armor endorsement. His armor and health regen make him very good at staying alive even while behind enemy lines. Honestly, it takes a double team to kill me anymore while playing as the Tank, while the Gunner can still be outmaneuvered and beaten by bombs and airstrikes.

Then again, I'm the type of player that does better using defensive classes offensively rather than using offensive classes.

This is because of rate of fire, I'm guessing. Rate of fire makes everything about your gun faster, except for reloading. So it probably increases rev speed as well.

Assassins are pretty worthless...

They never get enough money to actually help the team. Hey guys, killing bots helps.

so do you guys think this will be similar to BF 1943 in that it'll have a decent community that'll stick around for awhile? Because while I enkoyed my time with the trial, I've been burned before with the purchase of a multiplayer focused xbla title.

I feel like this is going to last a while. The word of mouth is really positive, the game has a lot of depth, and the developers have made it easy to tune the stats. The only thing that's worried me lately is that barely any of the video game podcasts I listen to are talking about it and the ones that do have only played it for 20 minutes or so. That might have something to do with the late re-certification though.

Assassin's seem to only be good at three things.

1) Backing up important players. For example, play Assassin and then Stealth follow your offensive players. The moment anyone tries to mess with them, go for the backstabs.

2) Killing Jackbots. Whee.

3) Once the shield on your opponent's Moneyball drops, switch to Assassin and then get in that ass. Though, to be honest, I really hope they fix this. Maybe make it so once the shield on the opposing team's Moneyball has dropped, you can't switch classes until it's back up. Otherwise it's too easy.

But yeah, overall Assassin's don't really contribute to the team. They're just invisible dicks.

I've always realized that not many people seem to understand how the game is meant to be played. You're supposed to support the bots, not the other way around. It's really hard to play XBL randoms when both teams are just concerned with killing one another. Yeah, sure, kill the opposing players but do it while escorting the bots through the defenses. That's the whole point of the game.

Man. You guys sure do like to hate on Assassins. You really need to play with Toku or I. You guys just seem to play with shitty kids who like to try and be cool assassins and then just suck. I never do that bad. 20+ kills most games and I actually help my team. Toku and I can pretty much destroy an entire teams offense on our own while our team mates worry about the money ball.

I know this strategy is completely legit, can be countered, etc.

But it doesn't change how completely stupid it is.
Run the clock, accumulate money, change class to assassin, when moneyball drops in overtime, kill the moneyball by circling around and being pretty much impossible to kill without damaging your own moneyball.

SO annoying.

Seems people are becoming better with their favourate classes online, some nasty people out there but hey I still win 90% of my matches :D

Tank > Gunner and it always will be for me.

Game is soooo good.

it's a great trick to stick them at flanking points, let somone use a jump lift and detonate your bomb to send them another 200 foot :lol

If there is one key thing they need to fix it has to be the overtime rules and how much damage the moneyball can take from pro's, you can sneak one guy in and destroy the ball in 30 seconds if no one is about, might as well idle the first 15 minutes of the match.

More focus needs to be on escorting bots to do the big hits.

Juice damage to the ball needs to be half also.

this game blows when youre playing by yourself without a party

most of the time you get matched up against other parties who are working together while you get a bunch of 0s and 1s in your team running around doing nothing. last night i tried to play a pick up game by myself at 3 am. i had 25 kills, the second guy in my team had 3 and none of them had mics :|

While I prefer the gunner, I have now found that the tank has his uses as well. The charge is great and the fact that the tank is the only class that can survive a sword backstab is nice (with the armor perk).

I think the gunner with armor gold can survive it as well and the tank can survive it without armor gold.

100% agreed. I played several games this morning where the common tactic seemed to be wait til overtime, buy juice, and then snipe the crap out of the moneyball in 10 seconds. There isn't even time to react if you're working on the enemy base and the sniper manages to sneak onto an elevated position in your own base.

I also had a 30 kill streak as support :D I had a 3.3 turret above their first gate exit and their team kept launch padding straight into my air strikes and shotgun combos. Pretty cheap and slightly overpowered perhaps, but it got me the 25 kill streak badge.

Gunner with gold armor only survives the dagger backstab but dies when the assassin upgrades to sword.

I actually went quite a while before I ever found the custom classes and perks in the UI.

Does that perk selection only happen with custom classes that you have to purchase with in-game cash? If so that's kinda lame, newcomers are already at a disadvantage trying to learn the controls, classes, bots, maps and whatnot. It's a shame if they are also locked away from performance increasing perks until they have put more time in.

That being said I was still having lots of fun with the game last night, and I've still only touched support so far. There are few things as satisfying as a really good level 3 firebase placement. Opponents are starting to get pretty good at trying to blast them as they deploy. So my new usual tactic is to push forward with a pack of bots that I've overhealed and then try to deploy the firebase just behind the bots while the enemies are blasting the bots. When the wreckage from the bots clears they are faced with my level 3 firebase and myself with a shotgun and often loaded with juice from all the bot healing that I was doing. It's a really nice feeling.
