Monster Hunter 3 Tri Official Site Updated

So what am I doing wrong against Qurupecco? I've been hammering away at him the entire demo length and he barely even seems phased. At one point he started drooling like the Jaggi did a little before it died, but I ran out of time before I could see how close I was. Should I be trying to hit a particular part or something because I have basically just been hitting it wherever

Trying hitting its head, it can speed things up.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Even after getting plenty of experience in Previous MH's taking down Quro with the time limit with the hammer is a bit difficult, typical hammer tactics leave him with too many opportunities to heal and over aggressive hammer tactics will lead to your own defeat. The easiest way is to destroy his beak but if you're finding hitting his head too hard then just get the timing down right so you can keep the pressure on him without getting your own ass kicked.

The hammer seems to be right now to be the easiest way to take down Qurupecco in the demo. I had marginal sucess with the S&S, the rest of the weapons... hell no. Should I stick with the hammer to beat him as a first-time player?
If you have more success with the hammer and S&S then I'd say you're doing quite well. Those weapons aren't the easiest to get into. You can always try other weapons but these are great weapons if you can start with them.

So I have the controller bundle pre-ordered on Amazon.. have had it like that for a month or two. As it gets closer, I wonder if I'll actually play it or not.. I almost never use my Wii and I have FF13 with the Mission (woops, not Hunt) system seeming kind of similar. Is this worth buying if I'm not going to play it online? I would like a classic controller as I don't have one currently but I guess I could rent it and buy a controller..

Just looking for some input as I've never played the series.

You should really try the demo before buying this game. I think you should rent before buy.

Also:
Finally got my demo from Capcom. I live in Southern California btw!

A quick question for those who played the Japanese version:

I'm under the impression that since MH3 was released it was supported with a variety of event quests and unique equipment etc. Is this still going on or have things slowed down seeing as the game was released quite a while ago in JP?

Guess I should look into how to do that.. wonder if it's too late. I don't have a classic controller but do have a Wavebird.. you cant play this with the Wiimote/nunchuk, right?

Wavebird/GC controller is a nono. Any other controller is fine. If you want to try the demo just go to GS/Ebgames and pre order the game and cancel the next day or so.

Yes its still going on. They added new quests last month, however things have slowed down as compared to before.

New blog post on the Capcom-Unity site. It's about the Jhen Mohran. They've posted two trailers which really don't show that much new stuff when compared to the Japanese trailers.

I finally got to play the demo and as usual I'm completely useless unless I'm using the Long Sword. :P
It's such a joy to say that, isn't it?

I tried to buy the CCP on eBay, but for some reason it's going way past the delivery time, and I'm getting no answer. And I can't buy the CCP bundle so... guess I'll play the Nunchuck setup.

Is there any toadstool mushrooms to be found in the demo, Iwant to make poisoned meat. I noticed when fighting the greatt jaggi (haven't tried on queropecco) when he starts drooling he will eat meat you place down. The SnS build in the demo has tinged meat and sure enough te bastard eats it right in front you. In the original monster hunter you needed to use smoke bombs and hide and hope a monster would eat the meat (rathalos :D )

If it's any consolation, the studio might be closing down.

That was mean.

I just got the demo in the mail today. Played the Jagi quest and sucked hard at it.

What weapon is the easiest for a first time hunter like myself? I tried the sword and shield guy and it was okay with it.

Long sword I guess. Also Monster Hunter has a big learning curve, so don't be down on yourself if you suck.

Anyways the demo was cool. The loading time was pretty good. I only tried Heavy Bowgun and Hammer. They really fuck up the hammer, I did not like what they did to it.

Start with great sword, long sword is easeir but going with great swords you learn to sheath/unsheath stratergy and you learn a slower but direct weapon. GS hit hard i mean hard and then it makes using the long sword eaiser becuase your so use to GS. The long Sword feels so light and easy. The great sword is were the action is:D

Sword mode feels like a GS were the axe mode feels like a slower LS. I say stick in Axe mode and go to Great sword for the power. I am learning hammer which unsurpassible power but you need to be good at hitting monsters in the head. Hammer makes querupecco fight easier breaking his beak horn

There's a new Ironbeard viral ad up. And he reminds us that what's needed to become a true Monster Hunter is "a thirst for excitement, a desire for action and a
firm grip on your Wii
..." :lol

Sword mode is the stronger of the two. For me I usually attack using sword mode and switch back to axe whenever the gauge is low. Will keep on using axe mode till the gauge charges back and then I switch back to sword again. For cutting tail, axe mode is preferred.

What's wrong with the hammer?

Oh well I guess I should try to replay again with the sword. I was already doing pretty well with the axe.

Say what? Hammer is so much better now more like it! If you haven't realised yet, you can now combo into a triple pound from a level 1 and level 2 charge attack.

I forgot to mention that in sword mode, your hit will not bounce no matter what colour your sharpness or how tough the skin of the monster is and that is a HUGE advantage.

More than settling on an "easy weapon".

Practice = playing = practice = playing.

You simply need to put the time in. If you put the time in, you WILL get better.

Cool thanks for the heads up. Already have Unite and the Tri demo, but that fossil model looks pretty cool! Might give it a shot ;p

You guys must not be regular hammer users in previous MH's then? I turned on the demo... loaded up Quro with hammer and beat him in about 5 mins without taking more than a tail swipe once or twice. :lol The real challenge is beating him with lance in the time limit. I love lance but I'm no pro with it. I'm hoping to go mainly lance in Tri but I know I'll revert back to hammer when I'm having too much trouble.

Ive barely touched the demo, but I would figure a lot of the weapons they give you probably just have slivers of green as opposed to the rainbow of death your sharpness was deeper into the prior games.

I am interested in this game, simply because I hear that the English version will be free to play online, and will support the Wii Speak channel.

Somewhat unfamiliar with the Monster Hunter franchise in general. Is this similar to Phantasy Star Online (a game I played the hell out of)?

Now, I hear Gamestop is going to be offering bundles including the Classic Controller Pro and the Wii Speak itself. Can anyone in the know tell me if this is something I can pre-order? Also, what is the pricing on the bundles?

Dunno about the Wii Speak bundle, that's news to me. But the CC Pro bundle you can reserve; it's $60 normally and you get $5 off plus 500 Wii Points when you pre-order.

That 5 bucks off just comes from the money you put down when you preorder.

I guess I give it more play time. I think I judge thy hammer too early.

That's a really good vid. Only difference between you and me is that I wait and use more lvl 2 charges (usually does more damage than a smaller combo with the lvl 1 upswing) and I immediately circle to hit his head when he's on the ground. It does a lot more damage than just going for body and since you usually still have enough time to triple pound it's a great way to make him dizzy for another 15 seconds of free punishing (oh and you break his beak which helps :] ). Nice job though. :D
