on a side note, I love how much detail they put into the game. I was fighting a Congalala yesterday with a fire hammer. noticed that it's fur actually got singed after I attacked it for a while. that's so cool.
I randomly threw out a slinger line to collect an item from the world and my Palico was standing next to it and the Palico had an animation to flinch when my slinger whacked it on the head by accident and I was like damn they somehow thought of this and animated it lol

Uh, are frenzied monsters suppose to die so quick? kut ku dying in barely above a min…
I get stream lining things but this seems a bit extreme

Edit frenzied Nerscylla too, 1:28 without even trying

I think they're going with attacking more frequently and differently while having less health with the frenzy monsters. that and the frenzy virus, when you get fully affected by it, would disable you from healing with potions I think. it's a threat in theory but for more seasoned/skilled hunters, it's not really that big a deal.

Also in MH4U biggest threat we’re not frenzy monsters instead Apex monsters which you couldn’t fight them properly without using waystones on your weapon so your attack wouldn't bounce off.

That is correct. Frenzy monsters have way less health in exchange for more aggression. Icymanipulator Icymanipulator Think of them more of lore fights for something you've yet to see than challenge.

Welp, seems I can't read

I was like how the fuck do I survive the Jin Dahaad frost nova when there aren't any ice boulders to hide behind

Turns out I need to pull the ice boulders down from the ceiling myself

I am very smart

Saw some who were interested in playing together, so I setup a NeoGAF squad to get things started (if someone wants lead/sub-lead let me know). For those who don't know, it's basically a guild/clan and you can use it to join a squad lobby to more easily play together (bc Capcom somehow made multiplayer more confusing than ever).

Squad name: NeoGAF
Squad ID: XG6EV5EH

How to join:
  1. Talk to Felicita/go to squad information counter at base camp.
  2. Manage squads --> join a new squad --> squad ID search.
  3. Search for XG6EV5EH and request to join (approval required).
  4. Post your character name in this thread and tag a leader/sub-leader.
You need to finish the tutorial hunt and talk to a few people in base camp to unlock the squad counter.
I sent a squad request char name is Illyasviel

They really should have added a way to view and craft an entire armor set at once.

If not that then at least let us turn off the forging cutscene that plays for EVERY item.

You can easily skip cutscene and you view armor set just like you can in World.

This whole difficulty nonsense is getting silly, it's just sounding like the same gatekeepy arguments souls freaks use.
MHW wasn't difficult on release either, pretty much every actually difficult quest came from updates, diablos is arguably the only kind of threat because of how aggressive it is, and he was near the end of low rank.
Also you control the difficulty yourself, just leave the cat behind, don't eat a meal, use a weapon you're not familiar with etc., there's many things you can do if you're seeking some kind of challenge

I would argue that the tempered elders in base world were harder than the tempered apexes we have in wilds.
Both games had us hunting tempered monsters for decos and stuff, it just felt better in World.

The other issue for me, and one I personally hate and drives me crazy to “just not use certain mechanics to make it harder.”
To me that is that it’s kind of bad design when you have to stop using certain mechanics to make the game harder. So I don’t get to engage with cats, eating and the food system, probably shouldn’t equip decos either that and the armory system aren’t for vets I guess, and to top it off then I should play a weapon I don’t enjoy- all so the game can be challenging?
I don’t think so. That’s too many hoops to jump through when they should have catered more to their core audience who made the series what it is today.

I highly disagree on that, I replayed World/Iceborne not too long ago before Wilds came out and no Tempered Elders were not really challenging except maybe Kirin and Lunastra.

You guys really exaggerate difficulty of the base World.

I'm not talking about viewing armor.

You cannot forge an entire set at once. You have to make each piece one by one and each time you get the same exact cutscene that is split into several parts so you can't just hit skip once.

Should have the option to buy an entire set (and view the total requirements) and have an option to simply press forge and not view a cutscene at all.

That doesn't make any sense, self imposed challenges are not "bad design", as you can do this with any game and in that case every game is badly designed because everyone will experience difficulty, challenge, and fun differently.

You are spot on, limiting yourself to get a bit of challenge is bullshit game design.

It’s not that world was *that* much harder, but the elders are generally more of a threat considering they can’t be trapped, captured, or exhausted. They seem also generally more aggressive than non elders.

And because other then *maybe* Gore and Ark, Wilds is on the easier side , so any increase in challenging content would have been welcome.

LR and HR never ever going to be difficult for experience players unless they make HR hit as hard as G rank.

Coming back from Iceborne and Sunbreak back to HR and LR is going cake walk no matter what.

I'm taking my time and am at HR 40 after 43 hours of playtime.

Next big play session is probably Nuudra farm.

I'm 22 hours in and I'm like HR5 lmao. Only on chapter 3 of the story and that's ALL I've done outside of maybe 2 optional quests which were things like 'Slay 12 whatever". I've only had to restart 1 quest from carting too much.
