Can't believe I actually carted to Yian Kut-Ku. That move where he charges at you while digging his head on the ground really got me by surprise, it has insane tracking.
Insane tracking and last forever, tried to roll away but if you are close he gets you anyway.

I guess the only way to avoid is unsheathe and run away at full speed because normal run and roll is useless.

I agree completely. I really disliked this hunt. Worst in the game by far.
Yep, worse monster in the game for now.

I thought it was because of the first group hunt but yesterday i fought him solo and he is just a boring, easy fucker.

Btw all the artian weapons looks super cool but they kinda make other weapons a bit redundant.

Or switch to sword and shield and laugh in his face. The new perfect guard is overpowered as fuck, I love it and hate it at the same time.
I'm not good with parries in general so it is never my first choice.

I tried sword and shield in the past but i thought it was pretty boring tbh, but i heard good things about wilds iteration so maybe i'm gonna try it, the game is pretty low on endgame content so i have to try other weapons to keep the interest high or i'm gonna soon put the game in pause until the first update.

I don't know what it is, maybe it's because I've gotten so used to playing on Portal, but yesterday playing the game on my OLED with HDR my mind was blown by the atmosphere in the game.

Was doing that HR40 Assignment where you have to kill 3 monsters and I had to fight that Rey dragon thing in the Plains with that thunderstorm and that water monster in the Forest with the downpour and it was just amazing.
All the weather effects made the fights truly epic.

Also, LBG really sucks.

I've also never been the biggest fan of SnS, but I loved it here. I can't speak for your tastes, but it's certainly worth giving it a try. The increased mobility, damage and defence that now almost resembles lance make it quite satisfying if a little overpowered.

I'm hearing this everywhere but why?

I tried briefly and the only miss-input was the countershot with circle after you fire your normal ammo, i swear half of the time the input is lost in translation...i thought it was me being an inept but maybe it is not?

Also the absolute genius of having the countershot and the rapid fire mode in the same button so if you miss the timing you switch mode, who the fuck thought it was a good control scheme?

But i adore the fact that ammo are infinite, make the game easier but i hate farming ammo materials.

Yeah, maybe I'll gave it another try at a later point, but for now I'd rather go with my Bow/Hunting Horn combo.

Also need to look into those Artian weapons. No idea what they are. Lol

They are like metal-futuristic shaped weapons, the hammer even has a special graphical effect when you charge hits.

Crafting them is basically the whole endgame, i crafter and maxed out a couple but i'm not sure if i understood the whole process and how to get the best possible outcome.

I want to try the hunting horn, i saw people placing like 3 bubbles on the ground to absolute fuck up the monsters and it looked very satisfying to pull off, but i hate the whole music notes composition stuff.

Are there any game mechanics resources that have been put together yet? World had a lot of unexplained mechanics that would be super helpful to know for Wilds. Things like how the status effects are applied (is it still a buildup, with each trigger increasing the threshold?) or how it is built up (is it still blunt damage to head = stun, everywhere else = exhaust?) or how monsters can be enraged and what changes, or even just explanations of the various decos...

Damn I love trampolining with the insect glaive, I dunnoh the combos on the ground though so if I stop being able to bounce I switch to my sword and shield or horn depending if I have friends with me.

Having way more fun after finishing the first part

No, they don't go in details for everything everything and the menus are still confusing for a noob.

They tried to do a better job explaining stuff with a more restrict campaign but the game has too many shit to explain in detail that is probably impossible.

You better watch dedicated videos like i did when i played world.

Put more time into Gunlance last night.

It's so good! I'm rocking the Gypceros one right now and it's literally a huge tube cannon.

Yeah that's what I mean, are there any in particular worth watching? Was kind of hoping for a comprehensive wiki or something so I can read instead of watching lol

That said maybe I just need to search harder... Most reddit stuff right now still seems to be meme upvote bait and not actual mechanics discussion.

Maybe fextralife wiki? But it is probably not complete yet.

Lol everyone hate the poor kid.

If it wasn't for him being bipolar you would not have the hunter cool one liner at the end of the campaign...
Nah our Hunter would have said it anyway. The Hunter is very clearly a murder hobo when it comes to Monsters. Hunter characterization boils down to landscape pretty, can I eat this, is this thing you are talking about useful for hunting.

I think most of the cast is pretty annoying. I only like the Wudwuds, Palico, Olivia. Nata is probably the worst character. 2nd worst to me is that Botanist. I think the issue is just they aren't memorable in the way characters from MH4 and MH Rise were memorable. Standouts in this game to me are Fabius and Gemma...but that's because they are Ace Lancer and Miss Forge from MH4.

LBG sucks because the Bowguns suck in comparison to Bow. They dumbed down Bowguns a lot. I still carry a HBG regardless. Wanna do testing with Evade Extender(Butterfly Alpha was really easy to get) with Spread and see if the dodge forward and backward has increased distance as a way to mitigate Recoil. Maybe make Pierce gunning better.

I think Bowguns suck because the fun mechanics like deviation and lowering recoil just do not exist and you have to really hyperfocus on if you want to run a Normal, Pierce or Spread build. Elemental maybe.

Cluster seems redundant with Wyvernblast.

I dont understand why Capcom chose to make those unanimated cutscenes with close camera angles to character, they look so lifeless. I would've preferred normal gameplay camera for those conversations, they would hide the flaws much more

I reached HR100 today, so far its a really good Monster Hunter.
What i really like is the Monster variety but i think its a bit to easy. Nothing G-Rank in an DLC couldn't fix though.

Yeah I'm really happy about this, the roster is varied and really interesting in my opinion.

We’re missing elder, piscine, and snake off the top of my head. But they did introduce cephalopods, so that’s something.
Piscine wyverns suck, I personally dont miss them but we are going to get Elder Dragon one way or another, either from title update or G rank expansion.

Replaying Iceborne before Wilds came out I'm honestly got little sick of Elder Dragons so for me I'm glad they put more focus on none Elder Dragons here for once.

It’s not really MH without Elders imo. They gotta bring something back. I’d personally love to see Malzeno brought over from Rise.

Am I the only one who thinks the Elder Dragon categorization is dumb? They should either change it to make more sense or drop it completely.

I see no reason for it.

We are definitely getting Shagaru Magala at some point.

From I can understand the "Elder Dragon" is not really actual categorization like Flying Wyvern or Bird Wyvern, its more title they put on monsters that they cannot quilt explain.

Its same reason why Behemoth which is monster that is not even part of MH world is categorized as Elder Dragon.

Sorry, but this is a bad take.

It’s a classification of monsters that defy other classifications, and generally apart from any specific ecosystem, are abnormally powerful, and are basically walking (or flying) forces of nature. It’s also a badass term for a group of monsters. They can’t be trapped or captured, and they don’t get exhausted. Additionally, in the lore they are often the reason for failed expeditions, or the fall of civilizations, towns, settlements, ect.

The whole classification doesn't make any sense with World and now Wilds. There's like 5 monsters in Wilds alone that defy their typical classifications.

The entire "can't be trapped or capture" is just a forced gameplay mechanic to make the fight more difficult.

Sorry this TINY Kirin cannot be capture or trapped yet that giant Deviljho (who is also much more powerful) can.

Let alone you can fight endless amounts of them.

There's a similar issue with the "Constructs" in Wilds too.

Kirin maybe tiny but its way more agile and fast and can easily escape traps. Deviljho is strong but it’s not smart and solely acts on hunger and rage.

Elder Dragons are not just about having pure physical strength.

I would also add that while yes not being able to be trapped just makes the Elder hunts more challenging (which is a good thing) but it also ties into the lore and reinforces it with a gameplay mechanic, which is the best way to do these kinds of things.

Also, I agree, Kirins power is not size alone.

Edit
why doesn’t it make sense in World? Just saying that isn’t enough, and certainly isn’t an argument.

That's cuz Yian Garuga is a crazy mofo.
Crazy or not when comes both size and strength Deviljho has Garuga beat but the difference is Garuga has abilities thats useful to defend himself.

That even true in our animal kingdom, there are small colourful frogs that are highly poisonous which no predators dare try eat them.

Success doesn’t always come in big size and pure strength.

Elder dragons aren't just called elder dragons because they are strong, that's part of it sure, but the main reason is they have the power to severely affect the ecosystem, in a bad way generally.
So it's more of a lore reason, like teostras presence can make volcanoes become active, but it also gives them a reason to create a monster that's on a baseline tougher to fight than others.
It's also why spiky boy nergigante exists, he's basically a monster monster hunter, bringing balance to the ecosystems,

Someone else was saying sheathe and Superman dive can avoid it

I'm actually using that stupid attack for LS practice, one of these days I'm going to get the timing right on Foresight Slash to counter it

It will happen, after the 50th time I try. Really. It will

My god, and here I thought blasting over 50 hours and just reaching HR70 was excessive given the game just released last week
