Because it's launching with the Switch 2?Gameplay seems fun (MHW was my first MH and I liked it) but damn this new game is ugly as fuck. Why does it looks like a Switch game?
I was going to comment on the Charge Blade video and the outfit they had there...but you did a much better job showing off the goods. I agree, the details on the armor (and the various animations for the different pieces) look fantastic.![]()
So I was watching the HH video again at 1/4 speed, as you do, and I couldn't help but be taken by the detailing here in this armor set and weapon.
For the uninitiated, this is the Bone Armor set. It's actually a really great set for HH. Here are some fresh screens of that exact set in World.

I'd like to bring your attention to the detail on the pauldrons (shoulder guards). In World, they appear to be some sort of leather with fur accents. The leather is kind of muddied up close and doesn't hold up to scrutiny. The fur lining appears to be using a fur shell technique, common in World. It's the same technique they use to achieve fur on almost everything.
Now looking at the same area in Wilds, the difference couldn't be more obvious. The leather part is entirely replaced in a higher detailed fur covering. At first blush, I thought it was a card technique. Many many thin, individual hairs being rendered, similar to how trees or traditional (head) hair is rendered. But the more I look at it, it actually looks like the fur on the Wilds' set has some thiccness. Could it actually be geometry? That would be crazy. That's like, thousands and thousands of polygons just to render the fur on this armor set. It does appear that the fur squashes and stretches and moves in real time with the player.
This is the sort of detail minutia that gives me powerful hope for this game. People say it looks like crap and I'm like bro capgods are modeling individual hairs on this armor set. All the details on the weapons, the armor, the environment and monsters... Any given frame has many many thooouuuusaands of polygons being rendered down to the tiniest thing. I really do believe these consoles are going to be pushed to their limits to render them.

You still have time, play MH World or Rise to get some practice with those two weapons, especially for Charge Blade.Charge Blade and Hammer look cool.

In Wild you can bring two weapons to the hunt I'm thinking using my main weapon LS and range weapon like Bow.I love this slow drip, gets me thinking about what my plan is going in. In World I started with lance, ended up LS main with lance and HBG secondary. In Rise I started with LS, ended with LS/SNS/GS split. Been thinking starting with GS in Wilds, contemplating checking out hammer too.
I suggest play World or Rise again and try each weapon and see which one clicks with you and don’t be shy look at videos about proper way use the weapons.I've never played a Monster Hunter game. Tried the demo for World few years ago but it didn't click with me.
A bit weird since it looks exactly what I could like : big monster and variety of big weapons.
Anyway, I really like what I see on those overview for Wilds. Love the artstyle. Will keep a close look on it.
Because its trailer which anyone can watch and visuals are much more detailed. My guess is they didn’t want to scare off potential new players by showing gory blood when hunting animals.I have no idea why they disable the blood effect in these mini trailers...
But their blood effects are usually super uber mild...Because its trailer which anyone can watch and visuals are much more detailed. My guess is they didn’t want to scare off potential new players by showing gory blood when hunting animals.
I imagine so we can focus on the weapon moveset and not have effects than can potentially obscure them.I have no idea why they disable the blood effect in these mini trailers...
What makes you think the blood effects have been disabled? The hit effect in World was effectively dust and rocks.I have no idea why they disable the blood effect in these mini trailers...
I wish they brought those back, the effects in this one look super mild and lack impact IMO.What makes you think the blood effects have been disabled? The hit effect in World was effectively dust and rocks.
I think they are disabled, in world they were mild but they were more visible and it look like blood to meWhat makes you think the blood effects have been disabled? The hit effect in World was effectively dust and rocks.

Yeah maybe the amount of blood is related to the type of damage or the part you hit, maybe piercing is the one that does more blood spill.I'm a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong. I have probably close to 2000 hours in MHW and I've never noticed "blood" before. It is VERY subtle. I did discover, just now, that the bow seems to draw the most amount, and only from the fleshy part of monsters. Striking harder scales or other parts don't seem to generate hardly any blood at all. Here are some hot, fresh screens for you.
I wasn't getting nearly as much blood from dual blade as I did with bow. This leads to a fascinating detail I may have never noticed before. Perhaps monsters being pierced in fleshy points causes blood to spurt out more greatly, whereas being slashed with weapons mostly just causes scales and dust to be torn off, and very little blood. That seems like a very capcom detail.
There won’t be blood, rocks and kitty litter now fly off enemies since world. GU was the last game to include it, and all it was were red slash marks. Better than what we have now though, for sure.I imagine so we can focus on the weapon moveset and not have effects than can potentially obscure them.
MH Rise had blood. There won’t be blood, rocks and kitty litter now fly off enemies since world. GU was the last game to include it, and all it was were red slash marks. Better than what we have now though, for sure.
Can only hope that there will be a “blood” toggle
Both world and rise have blood, there is literally a video and a zoomed in gif in this very topic. There won’t be blood, rocks and kitty litter now fly off enemies since world. GU was the last game to include it, and all it was were red slash marks. Better than what we have now though, for sure.

Yup. IIRC GU also had blood, but the slash effect is too big making the blood hard to see.MH Rise had blood.
Yup, MUCH bigger improvement over World's weapon design.Nice weapon design. Now I'm not worried anymore lol
Yeah, they lean too much on the realism lolYup, MUCH bigger improvement over World's weapon design.
Should be right, there are 14 weapon typesI think we have three more weapons left…..Dual blades, Lance and Bow.
Unless we get new weapon but chances are very low. Frontier was the last game that got new weapons none them were ever made it to mainline MH games.Should be right, there are 14 weapon types
