Dark Phoenix Nixed, Wolverine definitely a go

I know there were ideas that Wolverine would receive more attention concerning his own story arc, but I didn't think it'd be definite. I suppose it'd be best to leave the Dark Phoenix Saga to Synger.

--------------------------------

As for the storyline, the main goal seems to be towards what Bryan Singer established at the end of X2, the 'Dark Phoenix' storyline known to comic book fans.

But the main discussion was towards one specific mutant, canuck growler Wolverine (and they say nothing good came out of Canada…) and how his own movie will be treated.
"I would never go with a different Wolverine. In fact, we met, Benioff and Hugh and I, and Benioff told him the story and Hugh loved it. Hugh's on board. Hugh knows the whole samurai story. I gave him those comics, he read those, so in the future he's onboard with those also."
The plan is to do more of an origin story for Wolverine. The first one. If that's successful, my deepest desire - I'm not reflecting Fox but you never know - my deepest desire is after the origin story, which David has worked out beautifully, it's really good - if that works, the second one could be the Mariko, ninja story.

X-Men 3, sans Bryan Singer, is firmly scheduled for a summer 2006 release, while nothing is cemented for Wolverine. Aside from those, Shuler Donner is also hard at work preparing the release of Constantine, starring Keanu Reeves.

...and Keanu Reeves as constatine? Suddenly I'm reminded of Colin Farrell as Alexander and Brad Pitt as Achilles. Both very very very forgettable movies.

If this is old news, shoot me :)

I've seen the Constatine trailer many times but I never knew it was a comic?

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
Dark Phoenix wasn't nixed where do you get that from the article? The article focuses on the fact that the wanted to talk more about what is going to happen in Wolverine's solo movie.

The Constantine trailers look sorta cool as a movie (and a little Matrix 1-like), but I hear from comic purists that it's blasphemous to the source material. Does Constantine in the comics carry around a gold cross as a weapon (like he does in the movie)?

I don't think it is -- and someone correct me if I'm wrong -- but it's probably just an adaptation of Constantine, the scholar/ruler (my teacher had this huge obsession with this man), like Alexander, Caesar, etc.... I wouldn't be surprised if they made one of Genghis khan, then again, the lead character would be a strapping bankable Grecian-esque male lead... so I could be wrong in that assumption :)

That's right, I skimmed over it pretty quickly. I just hope they don't botch up what Synger set up so well.

However I think it would be nice if the nixed the Dark Phoenix for X3 and then introduced it in X4 giving people time to forget about her and then make it look like a big shock for X4.

No, he doesn't. He's a nasty bastard, sorta like a British early Dennis Leary, but a little more serious. He was inspired by Sting, pre-soft-rock version.

I think we need some more Famke Janssen pictures while we ponder exactly how the Dark Phoenix saga will play out on celluloid.

James Marsters has been basically playing Constantine (or at least he was when Spike was evil and relevant) for years. There's no way Keanu can reach even that level of complexity for the character. Either Marsters or Sting should've had that role. Fuckin' Matrix movies.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Meh, I haven't read the comics, but as far as I'm concerned, I really liked the first trailer for Constantine. It looked pretty sweet. I'll be seeing it.

If they dont introduce Gambit like they did Nightcrawler then this movie will be a flop for me....

No.

Constantine is based on a Vertigo comic called Hellblazer.

Well.. um.. sorry for not being completely in the comic circle know how. Your comment is a tad bit late, though, as it's been pretty much established through the other posts exaclty who Constantine is, but thank you for your kind chairty in trying to hammer it in after the fact.
